I don't think anybody expects the refs to be perfect but they expect them to ref both teams the same way.

For example, Why is it the cheats always get the calls going their way at crucial stages in the game? The refs bias towards them makes it difficult to enjoy the sport.

.
I don't know about bias towards specific teams, some teams are more discipline than others. Ppl are complaining now but remember how bad those replacement refs were when the refs went on strike?

I didn't pay attention until this year, and I've only watched 2 or 3 Seahawks games this year including ours, but they seem to get BS calls going their way in the second half when they are down. Not always penalties, but various things that are clearly wrong go the SuckHawks way in the late third and fourth quarters.

It's like the refs are protecting the legend of Wussel Wilson and his infinite ability to lead a fourth quarter comeback.

I hate the talking heads that say when a "fumble" etc happens, they should allow the play to happen and correct it with replay. Then they replay the play and if there's no "clear" indisputable evidence, they allow the play to stand. I'm not complaining at this point, but WTF and HTF did they over turn Goff's 2 point conversion agains the seahags?

There was no clear video evidence that Goff was short, but the talking heads said they refs "pieced" together film. How can they do that? Piecing together evidence is not clear cut when you're taking about centimeters on the goal line. "Rant over"

I truly believe the commissioner is the one behind a lot of this. I wish they could get someone else in his position, it seems like he is in there for life.

I don't believe refs intentionally affect the outcome of games. I know it would be easy to do. A well timed holding call stalling a promising drive or bringing back a big play can change the fortunes of a team. Offensive holding is the one penalty they can call without as much controversy.

But honestly, I think they are more affected by the human aspect. Knowing they might really hear it from the crowd can give them pause on the questionable ones. Those borderline holds might be more inclined to flag the visiting team.

Not to mention, everyone knows the Patriots are generally considered the best team. If they have borderline holds it must not be a hold because they're good. If the Bengals or Dolphins have the same play, it must be a hold because they are bad teams.

And yes, I do expect a make up call when they realize they got it wrong. Not an egregious one. But maybe something that would normally give them pause to throw the flag.
