Without so much as a peep, the league sat idly by and watched the Rams hire a defensive coordinator that was going to be severely punished just a few weeks later. 50,000 pages of investigation and evidence piled up and the Commissioner couldn't pick up a phone and tell Stan Kroenke, "Hey, just a heads up here; we're investigating Gregg Williams, so you might want to hold off on that hire. We'll explain shortly."
