Fisher. And what sucks is that it was so damn obvious lol. Career average coach was gonna some how become the coach to flip a franchise around? Yep that was my thought.

Allen in 1978 and Knox in 1992 were both disasters whom I thought were more than adequate replacements to Knox (the first round) and Robinson, who the Rams ownership and front office didn't field the horses that he needed to continue his 80's success.

In all fairness though Knox inherited a team with little talent on both sides. The once mighty OL for nearly 2 decades had fallen off. Same with the D-line. There were no Youngbloods in there, just journeymen. Most of the skill positions were forgettably bad.

Allen though, who I thought would be a good replacement to the departed Knox, ended up alienating players and staff until he was made to walk the plank. So I was wrong more about Allen in thinking he could repeat the past success he had.

I never really liked Fisher at Tennessee or his brief stint as Rams DC and I was guarded about the hire. Best thing I like about Fisher is the finger gif. Cracks me up every time.

Spags and then Fish for me. I thought Spags was going to be real good after that SB thrashing the G-men gave Brady. But then as I sat in the stinky confines of Qwest stadium in Seattle on opening day to watch my Rams deliver the worst offensive performance I could recall and the worst QB play I had ever seen in my life. I watched the defense go from world beaters to clearly slouching in their stances and completely lose faith in the offense in the very first game of the season. I don't think I had ever had such a hopeless feeling about my Rams in my life and I have been a fan since '67. 28-0 to open the season? Oh FUCK!!!

I thought Fish would put us in contention and be a good coach. He brought us back from the dumps but just wasn't a very good overall coach.

Brooks I was right on. As a Ducks fan, I always felt he was just a mediocre college coach that happened to take the Ducks to the Rose Bowl and lose badly. He had one bowl win in his almost 2 decades of mostly losing football with the Ducks.

McVay I was right on. I was excited to get a really young, energetic, and innovative HC.

The first coach I honestly really thought about before the hire was Brooks. Before that, I really never paid all that much attention to the HC. I mean, I realized all the mantras like Ground Chuck and Robinson's 3 yards and a cloud of dust. But it was all about the players for me.
