Are you okay with Havenstein now:)

No, because for the money he's being paid his play doesn't reflect it, 7 sacks and a contract jumping to $9.6M next year. Speed beats him like a drum. His contract structure pretty much says he's gone next year.

I've been critical of Edwards because he still plays too high and power & quickness will beat him. Corbett's weakness is power and stunts. This OL struggles to pick up blitzes and stunts and that is interior OL play. They also need better play inside to run consistently between the tackles. The Rams inside run game really doesn't scare anyone. Why? Because they are inconsistent and that starts with their play at OG. Also, McVay has no patience to stick with it. He would rather make 3 deep throws than 2 strong runs and a short pass.

Against D fronts like the Niners that's a loser, because the Rams don't have the OL built to consistently give Stafford 5 seconds to take his time and wait for the slow-developing plays. On most of Stafford's sacks, he's had time to make a quick throw or simply throw it away. McVay's scheme is to read deep to short. In this game, McVay needs to shorten up his passing game to nullify the Niner's pass rush. When the safeties creep up, and they will, then the deep shots will be there.

Right now this OL is "good enough" but if McVay is going to stay with his current offense into the future the Rams need to upgrade their OL.

OT next year will be fine with Noteboom, and probably Jackson. If the Ram's passing game was primarily short to medium range this OL would be fine. But Sean loves his slow developing plays so since he's not going to adjust his offense he needs to rebuild the OG position to give Stafford the time.

Pressure on Stafford comes from primarily the right edge and inside. Corbett is serviceable in this offense, but Edwards is outmatched. He looks like a swing OT in a backup role. Corbett played better on the left side. IMO they should move him back to LG and play Shelton at RG using both as bridge players while they draft behind them.

They don't have the cap space to sign a good vet OG at this point. So drafting behind their current guys and moving the OGs around looks to be their best option right now.

When the Rams were playing the 49ers in Anaheim in 1986, they lined up for a FG. I was watching the game in the barracks with some of my shipmates and I said "block it and run it back for a TD." So what happened? Somebody (I forget who) blocked the kick and Leroy Irvin scooped it up and took it back for a TD.

Gonna try that again on Sunday.
I was in the real Navy down in San Diego when that happened. I transferred from NOSC to the US Fletcher (sub kiiler) in 1986. NOSC was integrated with the sub base on Point Loma, but you were prolly on the East Coast...

I was in Pearl Harbor - the best damn duty station in the entire US Navy ;)

Saw that game at a friend's house in Hawaii back then. My cable was out so went to his place to watch. The kick was a 44-yard Wershing attempt that Jerry Gray blocked. In the LA Times story LB Wilcher said he picked up the ball and heard Irvin screaming his name, then lateraled it to him and Irvin scored on a 65-yard return. Jeff Kemp was at QB for the Whiners, Montana was out with a back injury.

Yes.
Give that a try on Sunday.

HOLY COW!!!

That's almost exactly what I had.

I had this notion of Buffalo going, but I feel really strongly that we beat the Bengals in the Super Bowl.

The NFL gets to introduce it's latest young gun to the masses and a bunch of super ambassadors for the NFL get their rings!!!

But wow, excellent job!

I made one prediction that stands out, and there is a longer story to it I have shared here before.

The short version is I met Brenda and Kurt Warner at 1999’s training camp… Brenda was sitting in the bleachers with fans back then in McComb IL. Jim Thomas of the PD was there too. We (my wife more than me, particularly with Brenda) chatted for a couple of hours (length of practice) in those bleachers.

Anyway… My prediction?

I told my wife I didn’t think Kurt would make the team.

Boy was I right. :laugh4:

Look at the first post in this thread.
I was right! I called this super bowl appearance way back in October of 2019!

When the Rams moved to St Louis, I told my dad they'd move back to Los Angeles when their lease was up, which I actually thought was no earlier than 2020. The only time I didn't really think it was going to happen were the years the team was good, so like five years of their time away.

That Snead avatar you're rocking is hilarious. :laugh4:
