I agree with you on the division rival thing, but also, look at Bradford and Suggs this preseason. Some people are just gonna target other people's injuries regardless if they're a division rival. Suggs has no relationship to the Eagles or Bradford AFAIK.

Whoever Gurley comes back to play against doesn't guarantee he's not gonna take any nastier hits than he would've against another team.
Exactly, so you've got make absolutely certain that this guy can take the hits. Week 1 after 11 months of limited football action and zero contact is pretty much asking for a redo of what happened to Bradford last year. That's my point, not that nobody else is going to try to put Gurley out, everyone is looking for that edge. That's exactly why we need to make sure he's 100% prepared and that's a lot easier to gauge letting him practice a little, watch him and control the stress his ACL gets than throw him right back into the fire Week 1 without having played a single preseason game and limited practice to his name and absolutely nothing but hope and prayers.

I am extremely hesitant to trot a guy back out there when all he's had to him is a couple of practices you can count on your hand.

I would be stunned if we see him before week 3. If there is a sane bone in Fishers body, he will not even THINK of putting him on Fedex Field in week 2.

There is a difference between being physically fit and being football tough. The Gurley man needs to get his body used to absorbing punishment again as well as dishing out punishment of his own.

I've always been intrigued by "getting the body used to punishment"

Its one thing to get in shape well enough to prevent getting winded.

Back when I played....it seemed I couldnt wait to hit and get hit. I didnt need to be "ready". Of course I was just a high school chump with little regard for my own well being.

I also think it's a bit funny that we're concerned about him getting hit hard when so many ACL tears come from non-contact. I'm guilty of that train of thought.

Also you were getting hit by other high school chumps where this was just a fond memory to look back on when you look at a trophy in the garage.

Not being hit by creme of the crop professional who stack their whole life on making sure you don't get anywhere.

Last major ACL injury to a Ram was from minimal contact, so I think we have a right to be worried about how contact will effect somebody still so fresh off the injury.

I seriously doubt that he sees the field this weekend. That would really be a surprise.

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays. Could pump up Mason and the entire Rams team.

I don't think so. Allowing him to take contact from his teammates is a whole different breed than allowing him to walk out without having any contact in a while against a team that couldn't give less of a rip if he goes back to the IR, especially a division rival who has nothing but gains to make out of putting Gurley back out.

In my mind, it'd be a huge mistake to trot Gurley out right now.
You'd think that would be the conventional wisdom. But with Fisher, anything is possible. I can't wait to see Gurley out there but this week or next probably isn't the greatest of ideas. Now, Pittsburgh, is a different story.

If Gurley Plays in week #1 it will be because Fisher feels He's ready, I'll respect that decision!(y)
I wouldn't call him a 'Liar' he just mis-leads with a reason!!:D

I could see him being a decoy for a play or two but given our ACL history over the last 2 years I would be surprised if he got any actual carries.
As Fisher has said, this is our back of the future, no sense in rushing him.

It sucks, this is a huge game to start the year, you'd love to have all weapons ready to go. Sigh.

If he actually plays after the limited practice I'd be more concerned that he'd fake out our guys more than the Hawks. He's as much of an unknown to us as he is them

Agree. The LAST place I want to see Gurley is on Fedex Field. That field borders on criminal.
