What if he plays week one? I'll say it's a 95% chance he doesn't play, but we all know how much Fisher has borderline lied to us. He's never specifically stated Gurley won't play against the Seahawks week one so I'm not ruling it out. Any competitive advantage we might have can help.

That said I'll be biting my nails the whole game if that happened. Of course I'll be nervous to see him play whenever he comes back whether that's week 1 or week 8.

Just sayin, if it happens I won't be completely surprised.

I'm not sure there really is a competitive edge hiding it, though.

I mean, if he plays or sits, does Seattle prepare any differentially?

Fisher has bold faced lied to us... let's not sugar coat it. And i recall him saying he won't play in week 1 but that was atleast a month ago. I bet he plays a little. Maybe just 2 or 3 touches. Maybe 5 or 6 plays

Remember when Fisher said he didn't intentionally send all our draft picks from the RG3 trade out to the middle of the field before the game against the Redskins? Good times, Fisher. Good times.

Didn't he specifically say it during the Saturday press conference before the team announced the cuts?

EDIT: Just watched the press coverage and I'm right. He did.

If he's full go at practice, I don't see why they can't send him out as a decoy a couple of times. Send him out on a wheel route or something and he probably won't even get hit.

"Probably" because it's not worth the risk. Most ACL tears are non contact. Getting hit isnt the only worry.

Probably not a good idea to use a game day active spot on a decoy. One that won't even contribute on special teams.

Fisher loves messing with people. I would not be surprised in the least if Gurley plays. It's just something Fisher would do.

Sit him and don't use him until after the bye week. After the Bradford and Long fiasco last year I'm a bit more cautious.

I won't. They already took the restrictions off of him in practice so in my mind the decision to play him has already been made.
I don't think so. Allowing him to take contact from his teammates is a whole different breed than allowing him to walk out without having any contact in a while against a team that couldn't give less of a rip if he goes back to the IR, especially a division rival who has nothing but gains to make out of putting Gurley back out.

In my mind, it'd be a huge mistake to trot Gurley out right now.

Yes, but that was a response of "this week." Seattle is the 13th which is next week, and that video was from the 5th which was last week. Like I said, Fisher has a way with words haha.

I've always believed he'd be active game 1, I've downgraded my odds some, but the timeline isn't unreasonable.

If I was Seattle I'd be prepared for anything.

And I really don't want us rushing Gurley back, no point in it, but he's gonna be taking hits and making cuts regardless who he plays so I don't think it matters what defense we're against when he plays, it's more of a factor of getting more rest and rehab for his knee.

I agree with you on the division rival thing, but also, look at Bradford and Suggs this preseason. Some people are just gonna target other people's injuries regardless if they're a division rival. Suggs has no relationship to the Eagles or Bradford AFAIK.

Whoever Gurley comes back to play against doesn't guarantee he's not gonna take any nastier hits than he would've against another team.
