So you don’t read Rozeboom not dressing the past two weeks as an indication he has the 3rd ILB job?I think 3rd and if they keep one 4th ILB is a wide open battle.

This has been my guess too.IMO, Rozeboom is a lock, they like him for his special teams ability too. Now Jake Gervase is good on special teams too and Jake Hummel has had good moments, but again, I believe they will keep 3 ILB's & Rozeboom seems to be the choice along with Howard on the PUP list with Gervase & Hummel going to the practice squad.
Keep in mind I'm quite sure that Rozeboom is on the edge on FG protection too, so again, he's extremely important to special teams as a whole and is why I believe he'll be part of the final 53.
I'd like to think I'm right 4 out 5 like trident gum. FWIW the 5th dentist recommended not chewing gum, which I don't do, I'm a mint guy because mints dissolve, gum you have to dispose of and that can be a PIA.And … not to brag … I am right about this stuff two times out of five.
I'd say he might have the inside track, but either of the guys behind him can come in and take the job with good play. I don't think backups are locked in place just yet.So you don’t read Rozeboom not dressing the past two weeks as an indication he has the 3rd ILB job?
#39 Jake Gervase is much more valuable to McVay at this time than Hummel & Rozeboom.I’m wondering if Hummel and Gervase are battling for the 4th ILB role; and the Rams may only carry three in the 53-man-roster.
I could see them going with just two TEs and three ILBs on the 53.
How so?Jake Gervase is much more valuable to McVay at this time than Hummel & maybe Rozeboom.
The guy who had 30 snaps on teams in the entirety of 2021 is more important to the team? If coach D wants him there then great but I'm not sure anything we've seen from Gervase makes him more valuable to the team than any other backup, many of which can play Special Teams.Ongoing very big Brain action!
Special Teams
My posts specifically involved ILB'er unit & I gave a long basis for this reasoning in my post following:The guy who had 30 snaps on teams in the entirety of 2021 is more important to the team? As normal always watch the OL & DL over any other units in the preseason.
Watching to see:
#1- OL'er #71 Evans & #62 Kolone remaining on the sidelines dressed waiting for some late 4th quarter wipe-up action only.
1st half OL
LT-Jackson
LG-Snyder
OC-Brewer
RG-Anchrum
RT-Arcuri
2nd half OL
LT-Arcuri
LG-Brewer
OC-Snyder
RG-Anchrum
RT-Jackson
Brewer & Snyder get snaps @ LG/OC Carberry needs to find another center!
Jackson plays Swing OT no RG snaps. RG experiment over!
Arcuri gets snaps @ Swing OT. He needs to play better @ RT to win a position.
Anchrum gets a full game of snaps @ RG. He is the top main Swing OG #6 OL'er.
#2- DL'er #92 Jonah Williams has been the best non-starting DL'er in TC & preseason. He has won an MR53 so no need for him to play more than an opening series in the first quarter.
#3- DL'ers- Ernest Brown/ Mike Hoecht/ Elijah Garcia/T.J. Carter need to see an HD amount of snaps. The best 2 to watch would be Hoecht & Garcia.
#4- I like to see more of the 2 DE's ( #96 Keir Thomas & #98 Brayden Thomas) playing mixed in with the DL'ers neither have the speed or quickness to play the OLB'er posts in this 34 D but both are tough run & edge setters as 43 DE's.
#5- #38 CB Duron Lowe & #41 FS Dan Isom UDFA's are possible keepers for the PS.
I read it and understand. I don't however think we've seen anything that makes him more valuable to McVay and the Rams. He's a backup ILB one of three that at times has manned the ILB position and called the defense. If he wins the #3 or 4 job will I be surprised? No. He has as good of a chance as anybody but I don't think there's really that many backups that are so valuable they can't be beaten out in camp as we've seen happen a lot with the Rams under McVay.My posts specifically involved ILB'er unit & I gave a long basis for this reasoning in my post following:
What are you watching for in the final pre-season game ...

I was not discussing in the general "all units" conclusive terms in the initial MR53 of the 2022 season. If you will when you have the opportunity to read the above-attached post please let me know what your thoughts are then.
I'd say he might have the inside track, but either of the guys behind him can come in and take the job with good play. I don't think backups are locked in place just yet.
Yeah if Roze has been held out then he's probably safe. Which I don't agree with but it's splitting hairs so whatever.#39 Jake Gervase is much more valuable to McVay at this time than Hummel & Rozeboom.
Okay, now I understand your thoughts on #39.I read it and understand. I don't however think we've seen anything that makes him more valuable to McVay and the Rams. I mentioned it before but if I were McVay my first & only assignment for the newly hired consultant assistant to HC, Gruden is to turn all his attention to find any & all ways to improve this Ram's running game.Yeah if Roze has been held out then he's probably safe. Which I don't agree with but it's splitting hairs so whatever.
They'll keep 4 most likely. So whoever gets cut will end up on the PS.
They could be, I think the backup OL after Anchrum and Jackson will be interesting for sure and wonder who ends up on the PS.Okay, now I understand your thoughts on #39.
I also would have players like OL'ers Chandler Brewer, Jack Snyder, AJ Arcuri.... plus Jonah Williams, Lance McCutcheon & FB/H back T.J. Carter a higher priority too than #39
That large number of very good 2nd tier receivers have to be in consideration as possible trade bait before the trade deadline for a Ram unit that needs beefing up.They could be, I think the backup OL after Anchrum and Jackson will be interesting for sure and wonder who ends up on the PS.
We have 3 good/great starters at WR and some guys after that who have the potential to be good depth as well. I think that's the most interesting backup battle going on. A lot want 8 kept though I'm not sure how realistic that is since it leaves you light somewhere else. For instance Roger Carter and Jared Pinkney would be good blocking #3 TE to keep but how does Harris affect the TE and WR depth? I really wouldn't like to keep just two TE going into the season with the injury history of our top two.
Cut downs will tell a lot as will any signings in the 48 hours after that.
