Stafford has played in 165 games, or 85.9% of the games he could have in his career. He missed 19 games in his first two seasons, since then, he's played in 152 of a possible 160 games... or 95% of them.

Dude is an absolute warrior. There is no question about it.

I think the concerns being tossed around here are really more of hes sustained some nasty shit and although hes played through it...every year is another year older that shit has to catch up to ya doesnt it?

Not excited, just looking forward to hoping we have one of the top 5 QBs in the league and an explosive offense that makes it look easy.

Concern is that Stafford is overrated and he is what he has been, an exciting QB at times, that ends up being not much better wk in wk out when it comes to winning games than what we have had....Add in concern that he is more injury prone based on his style of play & age.

Hopefully he is not a modern version of Steve Bartkowski, Dan Pastorini, Bert Jones, or Chris Miller, all who tried to rekindle their careers in horns.

You need to get a Stafford avatar...
Matt needs to get in line sadly. My avatar is reserved for supporting the signing of big 54. And this summer it is reserved for Holt's acceptance to the Hall. So maybe around preseason time window I'll be ready for him. Also by then there should be better photos to choose from.

Let a GIF visualize what the Rams will do to the NFL this year.....

There's a lot of big mouthed fucks in today's world who could use some of that. IMO.

Unfortunately, through injuries.
The guy is a warrior, but I want him healthy.

I would love nothing more than for Stafford to play into his 40s.
In Horns, of course

Excited about having a QB with instincts & awareness in addition to the arm talent which we've had here before many times.

Nervous about his age and possible nagging injuries. He's got miles on those tires.

Your comment might get some hate....but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about some of those same exact things.....We are counting on Stafford elevating his game not maintaining it.

I feel ya brotha! Just a little concerning is all...he suffered some shit I don't even know what it means but it sounds nasty.

"I mean, this past year was bad," Stafford said. "I had the partially torn UCL in my right thumb, I tore my UCL on my left elbow on the second to last play of the Houston game that nobody knew about, trying to stiff arm a guy. That's why I started wearing a sleeve on my left arm because I had all sorts of tape underneath it, just to hold it in place."

what the hell even is a UCL? How many do I have? Why did he tear so many?

Excited about his obvious arm talent, ability to read defenses, and how he avoids mistakes.

Concerned about his track record vs. good teams and in playoffs.

I'm excited to see Stafford lead the Rams to a SB victory this season. I am concerned though if we can win it back to back

I’m most worried about too much of a good thing. We’ve seen flashes of McVay getting excited and pass happy now hopefully he can grow out of it but I don’t want to get down by 10 and completely abandon our running game and throw the ball 60 times. We have a potent passing attack? Great! Let’s use it to balance our running game and keep our defense off the field while we tire out the other teams not just throw a million times because it’s fun and Stafford is a shiny new toy. Just win.
Mcvay has only allowed the Rams to throw 60+ times in a game twice, in his 5 years as HC. And has only thrown for 50+ 3 times.

That being said I understand the gist of what your are saying and I imagine coach may have a lapse in a game here
and there, however I think Mcvay is far too aware of himself to allow this to become a chronic Martz type issue.
I truly believe that the Rams were far more lethal with Vermeil there to remind Martz to keep the attack balanced.

I'm thinking Mcvay is too smart to not have someone on staff that will wake him up when he gets lost inside
of the game. As a play caller this can happen very easily, especially when your initial plan is not playing out the way
you had hoped.

Well yeah I meant 60 as an exaggeration not literal. Just that I hope he doesn’t get carried away.

I don’t want to speak for the man but I assumed he was referring to the scary sounding injuries he’s sustained catching up to him as he ages. Stafford is an absolute warrior but a broken back is scary shit

You'd be surprised what rubbing a little dirt on it will achieve.
My old middle school coach would recommend it for pretty much anything related to football injuries.
Apparently he had done years of research on it.

My excitement for this season is about the upgrade at QB that Stafford will provide and my belief in Cam Akers being 120% more legit than we even realize and the next star for Rams at RB.

My concerns are about our O-line being good enough to let our stars shine and having the depth and injury luck necessary to get in the playoffs and make noise.

Most excited to see Mcvay with a qb he feels can create big plays and "off script".

Worried about how long and if it will take Stafford time to get acclimated with the team that's ready to win right now, since he hasn't really had to be in many situations where 12 and 4 was the floor.

I’m watching another Lions game. It was the first game of the year against the Bears.

Stafford had some great drives only to have them killed by Oline penalty or the inability to run it in the red zone. Two things that stand out. He stands tall in the pocket and delivers accurate passes with pass rushers all around him. He does not throw off his back foot. He has his feet set most of the time but when he doesn’t he does not throw floaters. The passes still have zip to them.

The other thing that stands out is that he uses every weapon on the field. He does not key on anyone and on any play you couldn’t predict who was getting the ball. So he is seeing the entire field and not reliant on a specific receiver to complete third down passes, even under pressure.

If he can do that then this offense should roll. Consider how few penalties the Rams had on offense and also that they were able to run the ball. Two things that held the Lions back.

The only bad thing I saw in two games that I watched is that Stafford doesn’t seem to start fast. By the second quarter he was money. McVay likes early leads. With Matt’s ability to stand tall in the pocket I worry that the Rams do not protect him well enough and he gets pummeled and injured. I hope they get a center to upgrade the interior.

Zero concerns.

Sometimes the most obvious conclusion is staring you right in the face.

I remember when the Patriots traded for Randy Moss. It was terrifying. I said to a friend "they'll never lose..." and I was nearly right about that the next year.

Moss had some pretty mediocre years in Oakland prior to that. But he came to the best coach and team that he ever had, and domination.

What we're going to see next year is just that: domination.

Excited to see where this offense grows to in the next two seasons and beyond. All of the things about his game point to higher scoring, seeing him make NFL throws without having to see a guy open first, pocket awareness, a long ball that gives a guy a chance to run under it, touch on passes short and long, torching the blitz, working play action. THE WHOLE PACKAGE!!

What am I worried about, not a damn thing when it comes to Stafford.
