With Wade gone, is his son still under contract with us as a TE coach? Haven’t heard any news about him lately.

He’s done an excellent job developing our TEs when we transitioned to a 12-personnel. Everett made some excellent performances, particularly vs Seattle on the road, Higbee has been phenomenal during the last part of the 2019 season, and Mundt has put up some good blocking as a 3rd TE.

If Wes picks up McVay’s offensive philosophy like a sponge, would love to take Wes into consideration as the next OC if Kevin O’Connell does well and lands an HC spot in the future.

This is all assuming Wes Phillips is still under contract with us as a TE coach.

Yes most all coaches contracts are three years. He couldn’t come over McVay‘s first year because he was still under contract with the Redskins. I don’t think he’ll leave as he’s friends with Sean and by reports one of the reasons we were able to get Wade.

Mali’s O”Connel got promoted ahead of Wes.
I know you wanted him to be OC even before the OC hiring.

I can’t imagine The Rams kissing another OC anytime soon. If so it means McVays offense is really doing well .

Wes is an Excellent TE’s coach. What happens to The Rams old OC ??

I wanted him to be OC? Interesting. I remember saying he was McVay’s friend and we’ll see how far he goes. I think he’s the next one, now after O’Connel to get moved on as a McVay assistant.

I think that was me suggesting Wes might be in the loop for OC due to his history with Sean, that and his bloodline can't hurt. I may have also said something similar at DC about Chris Shula.

I think both are on track for those type of jobs. But it’s a bit early for that, though they’ve been touched by McVay magic so who knows.

I think Wes had the finest season of any coach on Sean's staff. His impact was profound in his first season here. Now maybe some of it was timing, sure. But still.

I also hope he at least got an interview as OC. And tbh he should see some expanded inclusion in the gameplanning to help him out just like I would think Shula gets extra involvement on the defensive side. Both those guys are up and comers IMO.

What Phillips did in Washington before he became TE’s coach wit The Rams was impressive as well. Still though The Rams could have had Kittle . -lol
I like Reynolds & Kupp. They have really been solid & productive. Same with the trade back to get John Johnson. When that went down I was happy with the trade back. Kittle was still there.

My point is The Rams passed on offensive lineman Kromer first season. The Rams still need another TE & a power run game. Like Mcvay drafted Rogers. I believe with all the young offensive lineman The Rams have, that they will pass on offensive lineman & will find a TE. A big D’lineman & playmakers. Maybe even trade up to get a stud LBer Snead has scouted ???
Shane Waldron is an interesting coach vs Wes Phillips. Big difference & Wes has showed at least as a TE’s coach that he is the better coach. Add Wes as the OC coordinator & he would probably do a much better job as well.

I don't think its a huge necessity right now, but might smart to do as I doubt we are able to keep Everett (considering Higbeasts contract) after this season and would be nice to have another in line be prepped for it.

I’m pleased with our TE’s and by the way, Higbees final 5 game stats were a lot better than Kittles. Not taking anything away from Kittle, I just think we have a guy we can be proud of too.

And i don’t recall Higs celebrating each catch as if it was the winning TD catch in the Super Bowl. Just doing his job at a very high level.

I think it would be awesome if we can keep both Higbee and Everett. It seemed that Everett was taking big strides before the injury. Screw Kittle and the 49ers.

Need to be more multifaceted. Get the match ups advantage, put more presser on the DCs weekly to prepare against us

EDIT: If Cooks is truly done, we got Reynolds and the 2 TE sets to do damage while we deal w/ his contract in 2021. Would like to fine a RB to pair w/ Henderson and replace TG3 in a year if needed

mph yeah, he was a steal coming out of
Western Kentucky with his baggage. Goff roomed with him his rookie year. There best of friends now. When Goff throws Tyler Higbee is sure to be there.
His first season he got knocked off the line of scrimmage.Seeing him develop has be a pleasure for sure. The guy in training camps would make these great catches only to drop them. Then to top it off he missed some easy passes each practice.
Higbee is a stud. He has worked his butt off & has established himself as a solid blocker.
Everett is the guy McSnead drafted together. They were looking for a Reid type player I think & knew they could wait for him,so The Rams traded back to get Everett. If they missed Kittle was still there. To me it was an awesome draft by The Rams. That group has done well.
I think The Rams need another big TE??
Reynolds vs Higbee ?? I loved the draft.
Ebukham was also drafted ahead of Kittles .Once Everett was drafted it checked a box off the list.Postion vs value when all things are the same. I’ll always remember Kittles 40 yard dash,so when he blast a guy with power 45 yards downfield it reminds of the power he runs with. Taking nothing away from The Rams players, just sort of be cool to have 2 beasts at TE.
Hope Everett has another solid season & stays healthy.

So are you advocating to trade Everett or let hm walk when he becomes a FA? If not I would say the Rams are set at TE.

well at what price do you pay ?? I don’t know man. An2 TE set is en vogue. I like the Higbee Kittle types that can block & make plays. Always have to have a Everett type of TE as well. The guy who Phillips had in Washington & then The Rams signed was good. Mundt has upside & got some good playing time. I believe you let the draft come to you. Right now I don’t know what is out there. What I do know is Kittle was value in 4/5th as well as Tyler Higbee.
Everett was a pick I liked a lot because it was McVays guy. It was McSneads first together & they traded back to get him.
John Johnson for free made it even better.
Juju smith was in that draft as well.so my point is I want playmakers. I also believe TE’s help the O’line out & makes an offense more diverse.

Can Everett become a serviceable run blocking TE? If he can take do Mundts role and also run routes from that position, it would be HUGE. Teams expect pass only when he's in the game and it would keep them on their toes.

He's shown flashes of good blocking. If he can be consistent in that role, our 12 personnel will keep defenses more honest.
