He can disappear in front of a defender, we will see how translatable his skill set is to the NFL

After we signed Mr. Jones to a UDFA contract I looked up his highlight vid on YouTube and came away rather amazed that this guy was not drafted by someone. He seems to have great vision and cutting ability and he was a decent receiver out of the backfield. So nobody in the NFL couldn't use those skill sets?

Then I thought well mebbe he's just a small scat back type of RB and usually those styles of runners don't really do much in the NFL (see Austin, Tavon). But, heck, he's got decent size and 200+ lbs and looks like he wasn't afraid to stick his nose in a pile to gain extra yards. So I don't understand it myself and I'm excited to see what this kid can do.

I'm believing we're all going to be pleasantly surprised, ya'll!!

I just rewatched Henderson's highlights.
I was wanting to see if I could tell the difference between being pick number 70 last year and an UDFA this year and if it would show up on the best clips of both RBs.

It did, imo.
Henderson may or may not be successful at this level, but even from just watching 2 college highlight films and comparing 2 RBs with impressive skill sets who competed against less-than-elite opponents, Henderson's balance and burst just POP off the screen like Jones' cuts do, but DHs skill set just appears to be more likely to translate... but who knows. This was an eye test based on each players best, with no similar comparisons based on their "worst of" clips.

Now I just re-watched Akers highlight reel to see the difference (or whatever totally subjective, non scientific way of distinguising) between these young guys.

Imo the difference between Akers at 52 and Henderson at 70 is even more pronounced than Henderson Vs. Jones.
Akers' reel shows a guy competing against elite competition, surrounded by less that capable teammates, who posseses the full arsenal of RB tools and he uses every possible one at just the right times.

Impressive highlight reel.

Seems to have great vision of the field and a little patience to see how it opens up.

Most importantly IMO, he had excellent downfield blocking for him.

Mr. Party Pooper here. I don't see anything special. Yes, he's elusive and cuts well, but he doesn't have much juice, lacks contact balance, and doesn't run with any real power.

I've looking for this kind of analysis, thanks. DH has ball-catching skills also. I feel like if our blocking had opened a lane or two last year, it would've been a different story for us. I still have high expectations for DH. I love how our backs have ball skills. Also, I've decided to change Cam to the nickname "Green."

Nah man, thank you. I'm not really gifted with that type of thing like @jrry32 and others here are, so my opinions should be taken with a grain (or maybe the whole shaker) of salt.

I just like talking Rams football with others here who are not assholes about everything. That's why ROD rules. The best rams fans and mods. Even when the team sucks, this place keeps Rams football a source of pleasure and escape and I appreciate every member and mod responsible for making it this way. Cheers friends!!!

Great juking and cut/stop speed, his straight line speed is nothing spectacular, which may limit him, but very interesting player, glad we got him to kick the tires.
