Todd Gurley's 2nd contract that only starts this season.

Snead needs to do a little better.

Yeah I didn't like the Pead or Mason pick and plenty loved the Tre Mason pick, however, in fairness to Mason, he went downhill fast after the Rams selected Gurley so that's a wash along with Gurley's 2nd contract, Gurley had done so much on and off the field, everyone IMO, was very pleased over the extension, but it just didn't work out and I'm sure the Rams will learn from it.

Not sure what they will do in the draft, some feel the Rams could draft a RB in the 2nd round like Dobbins or Edwards-Helaire and some feel much later like Zach Moss of Utah. Again I tend to think if you have a great offensive line and passing game, the running back is the frosting not the cake, however, we as Ram fans have been spoiled over the years with the likes of Dickerson, Faulk, Jackson & Gurley so a Committee approach does not resonate well with most of us.

:sick:Sadly we have a problem with our GM Snead's thinking on the true value of his top draft selections on how these top selections help keep you out of Salary Cap Hell.:censored:

I would strongly suggest Snead follows your excellent advice.
I would go this route if it were me.
I would have no issues with this either. Rams have a good amount of OC (five) prospects but none look to have what is needed now or the future. Upgrade is badly needed after this season.
I see the WR situation as a not needed this yr but next season its a very big need. With both Kupp, Reynolds & Everett being UFA's & that monstrous Cooks contract along with his concussion issues.......as you said factor in the abundance of nearly a dozen first round caliber WR prospects there would never be a better time for Snead to get his future star wide out for a bargain!

Its a very bad draft for 34 D ER/OLB'ers. I would plan on utilizing both 6th & 7th rd picks for RB needs. I am still worried about the CB Ramsey situation enough to keep an outside corner on my get list.

I would center in on the following positions LT/ OC/ CB/ WR/ RB's

Hate to say , glad your not drafting. If you can’t see the need for a RB at the top instead of a RB LB OLB/DE ? Wow
A CB after RAMsey trade ?? What about a safety instead?? Weedle & Blake are gone.

The Rams cut Coleman-Robey because of CAP & young depth. I hate to think what The Rams would have looked like with him & had J.Joyner in the slot instead. He even got franchised of course as a FS.

Henderson had 147 yrds(lmao) what a joke!!!! Gurley got straight out CUT!!! Brown has been a core special teams player. - Kelly ?? Where is the depth.

Austin Blythe to me was never a starting LG to begin with.He took over for J.Brown because his dumb self got busted for Peds?? He road the wave to The SuperBowl. He did well for his size.I’m not a believer in a big center & Blythe takes charger off the line. Jared Goff feels comfortable with him. Brian Allen was handed the starting Center job, now he has to compete for it. It’s a joke to think those other Center as Backups are going to get cut right after the draft?? They all have experience with Kromer.as Snead would say about the RB postion there is only 1 football, more said here imo.

LT- yes I agree might to a postion of need ?? I think Noteboom is kept on the PUP maybe the whole season?? Then again progression & injuries will play apart.
WR-is a value pick because of the depth in 2020 & The Rams because of the Crap Gurley singing hurts resigning key players they have drafted & developed.
TE is a position of need 2021 but can’t because of cap.Everett is on his final yr. How much does he command ??

—On offense with a New OC in O’Connell The Rams need a little spark in the backfield.Henderson & Brown aren’t your every down back. It is always easy to see the The direction MCSNEAD are going early in drafts. In 2020 it is going to be a RB within the 3rd if not sooner.

Yeah... it feels like everything hinges on improved oline play. I am confident in internal development, I am.

But... give me a lot of options. This has gotta work. I am hoping oline at 52, too.

I won’t be pissed if we go LB or WR if a coveted one drops.

What about a RB ?? I’m a broken but I don’t see a O”Lineman drafted. It’s just like McSneads 2017 draft. Then everyone was saying who is this John Johnson guy. The Rams had no TE on the roster.I was a Kittles fan, also that NY Giants TE Evan Engram if he fell.
What would The Rams look like without Copper Kupp?? SuperBowl Champs if healthy??? Look back when he got hurt & Gurleys numbers after??

I just see the development of this young OL & a RB taken early.A LB & or a OLB/DE maybe with the first pick?? A trade back again just to add 3 quality position of RB,S,DE,OLB,lb,De,WR

A backup QB such as J.Hurt will be added before a O”Lineman as well.
Dak Prescott type of QB???He is an athlete & this offensive Staff is looking to add another wrinkle to the offense.I don’t know if The Rams meet with any QB’s or Hurt??

Yeah I liked him as much as his brother Al.

Do Chads count with my vote?? Frank Gore is a for sure HOF & will be putting on that jacket.

Who will be The Rams RB in 2020. Gore is more durable than say Henderson with 147 yrds with 4 receptions & zero TD’s. Ram fans want to complain about Brian Allen then use this guy as a featured back???

Who is the so called future RB??? Malcom Brown ?? Yes Detroit ended up with CJ Anderson, but he sure looked good in a Rams Uniform. Gore has been a Ram killer over the years, wouldn’t want him now because he would have the opposite effect at this stage of his career.

Remember: the draft is for the future. The Rams have also been behaving this way with most of their draft picks over the past two years. For example: Noteboom and Allen were selected but at the time, we had starters and they saw very little to no playing time. When we drafted Rapp, we had our starters set and Christian who had been on the team for years. David Long - same thing.

With that in mind, we actually should be looking to next season to see which players will be leaving:

Ramsey*
Kupp*
John Johnson
Everett
Reynolds
Ebukam
Hill
Floyd

*can't see the Rams not re-signing these guys

Whitworth - seems like this be his last year despite the 3 year deal

My best guess is that we will have 7 key contributors leaving next year - their positions are: S, TE, WR, EDGE, CB and T

Now for the self scouting part, which McVay and Snead may disagree on - this is the hardest part as fans because we think we're right but often, the staff disagrees - the following positions are ones that I believe we should upgrade for the 2020 season:

ILB/S (subpackages)
RB
G (many say Center but I'm fine with Blythe there)

QB, WR, T, C, TE, EDGE, DT, S, CB - some will disagree, but I am fine with all of the penciled in starters at this position. The OL stabilized AFTER Blythe went to C.

When you overlap those two, you get OL and S as the biggest priorities.

The next step is for the staff to figure out which of those players they will re-sign.

I actually hope I'm wrong, but I believe that our day 2 picks will be OL, S, RB - then on day 3 I think it will be EDGE, WR and CB

I personally would prioritize ILB, but I have a feeling we're going to roll with what we have.

The Rams just cut Robey,Gurley, & Clay.

That tells me a RB is needed & they have a couple CIRCLED early!!!

Clay was cut & the advantage of drafting a 3/4 edge rusher in The Rams system comes into play. They can find that twinner???
Coleman getting cut shows the depth & development of D.Williams?? Maybe even Tyler Rapp??? I’m. It sure about the Free Safety postion??? Blake Christen left.
Then what about Littleton’s spot. Reader was a good find as a udrfa. Then again who slips ??
—I’ll keep saying no O’lineman will be drafted. Made a Rod play saying so right after the season.Whitworth,Blythe, & Havenstien are all starters from the SuperBowl. Corbett was 33 overall pick 3 in2018. How bad was the Brian Allen pick?? I was shocked. Sullivan getting cut last season was a head scratcher.
The Rams drafted 2 lineman though with serious value. Could see a draft pick like that?? Nothing early for sure.

I guess you just deleted from your memory bank that I posted that I favored the utilization of two 2020 Ram draft picks for RB's. ;)

So clearly this Ram fan perceives a need for a refurbished RB unit this season. The only area on where you & I differ is you prefer utilizing the Rams top draft selection for a RB.:cautious: I believe good RB's prospects can easily be found late Saturday afternoon, whereas good LT/ OC/ CB/ WR's normally can NOT be found that late.

So you take issue with my thoughts that the Rams need to draft an outside corner? When you research how any Ram corners have contracts in 2021 you will find only ONE corner David Long. The other four do not. So you see no problems with having four CB's with no Ram contracts after this season?

Finding safeties to play & start is usually an easy task for most NFL teams. Snead drafted two last draft. Rams currently have FOUR safeties under contract for next season with only one being UFA. I would not surprise me if Snead finds a WWC veteran well seasoned starting deep safety looking for work in July @ a very low salary cap cost.

The draft is deep at Center. For example, Matt Hennessy fits our system and should be available with our compensation 3rd round pick, if as predicted, there is a run on WRs through the first three rounds

They will target an impact player in the 2nd. If Dobbins dropped to the 40 to 50 range, would you go up and get him? As FA showed there are not many teams looking at RB early. If Ruiz or Jones drops, would you trade up? Baun?

What we do will be determined by how the draft plays out. At least 7 WRs will go in round 1. I then predict a deep run early round 2 leaving some very good players at other positions that the better teams will jostle over

Snead needs to do a little better.

To be fair, nobody was going to predict Mason's mental health issues. He had nothing of the sort in college, and he had a good first year.

I would rather the Rams go with a running back that is not collecting social security.

With all the talk about how deep the WR and C class is, a player at either position could fall to the Rams spot at 52, as teams will pass thinking they will get a quality player at either position later.
Trading down is a good bet too, a couple of QB's will be there in the middle of round 2, Easton and Hurts, and 2 teams with multiple 3rd rounders in NE and LV need to add a young QB. Snead has hit on those 3rd rounders, having a couple extra this year may be to his liking.

David long fell into the Rams lap.A CB takes longer to develop in the NFL. This is where Kevin Demoff needs to sign D.Williams longer-term contract that’s good for both sides. Yes I see your point.
I think a D end or outside linebacker/linebacker is more important than an offenselineman.
I think the Rams have to take a running back by the third round to get any kind of quality.
WR depth in the 2020 class deep.I also think A QB at any point could be in play, such as J.Hurt?? The Rams also need a Kicker. Those are SPOTS on the 53. Will see, always like to get your view. — Can’t wait for this draft.

LOL - no doubt. I wish The Rams could trade up to get Johnathan Taylor. The Rams have to many needs & the 2020 draft has a couple nice players MCSNEAD will find.
Was just wondering what you thought The Rams would do to fill that RB position. Kelly or an older RB??
Trade ??? All could be options at some point.
