Ya but eventually you'll see larger athletic linebackers running over wide receivers, and as good and tough as Nacua is, he get's dinged up a lot. If I were a defensive coach I would make the WR's pay for blocking with a linebacker putting a hurt on them.

Hence the move to 13 personnel. McVay is always zigging while other teams zag.

He is amazing and hopefully he can try and save some extra effort so he doesn't get hurt as much. His style is not going to last through the superbowl run. Higbeast really shows his extra effort after the catch but he's huge! He gets injured also. I notice Devante will get extra yards but he also seems to know when to quit. We have many more games and we need puka. Go rams. I really like me some Ferguson.

Been saying this for years, going back to Kupp. Kupp excelled in that slot role for McVay's offense that made Jordan Reed a star. Kupp physically is similar to Reed, though Kupp was a better athlete and better at RAC. Puka isn't as physical as Kupp but he's physical enough and more slippery on top of that. But they're all that 6'2" size with the 3 cone type juice that gives them advantage vs DBs or LBs.

McVay has a type. That is also his super power offensively speaking, being able to take guys who are not rare athletes and set them up to dominate this league.

This is also why I wanted LaPorta or Bowers, as both those guys were "bigger Kupp" types who would have absolutely dominated this league in McVay's offense. It's why I wanted them to get up there and take a talented TE too, as maybe the bigger weapon with McVay's scheming would be a revelation for him.

Ferg feels thus far like more of a seam stretcher and wheel threat than a shifty 3 cone terror across the middle. But there is time. Maybe he can develop into a monster in this system. But this is also why I want Andrews, who would get schemed open in McVay's system and move the chains with size and resilience across the middle.

Back to Ferg gotta say I was very happy with how he played yesterday. Also Allen looked really good and Higs was on too. But what we need is Ferg to step up and dominate. Because if we lose Nacua for significant time, Adams is not going to survive over the middle. Adams is also not about taking a beating, the dude is very conscious of contact and I don't hate him for it but we have to be realistic in who's gonna lock up that chain moving role in traffic.

Kupp has missed 30 games throughout his career..... Nacua is well on his way to that mark.

We have four TE's that can block for Williams. Since the passing game is the primary focus for the Ram offense, I think we might consider being careful with Puca.

I love the detail in this. Great stuff.

Maybe it’s recency-bias.. but I don’t know that I’d say Kupp is more physical than Puka.. but maybe I’m not seeing what you’re seeing. I mean.. I haven’t see Puka de-cleat a 245 LB the way Kupp did against Tampa.. but he seems very physical.

We may be entering the golden age of Rams TEs with Davis & Ferguson. If Ferg can develop in the ways you suggest are needed.. they’ll be a hell of a combo.

Puka is plenty physical. Kupp just had a little bit more. But Puka is also a little more slippery than Kupp was in the pattern.

Got my fingers crossed on Ferg though, no doubt. If he can show out it's going to be a big deal for us.

I agree with many of you about Ferguson.... Other than him getting his ass chewed out yesterday by Stafford on live TV :laugh1: ..... I think the kid has many tools that could make him a great player in the NFL.
