The offensive line is not near good enough. We have no chance of going anywhere with this o-line. I posted at length several times about needing to keep Saffold. See:
https://ramsondemand.com/threads/saffold-signs-with-tennessee.57700/page-9#post-1193155 Why teams think they can cheap out on the o-line, is beyond me. Goff is under constant duress.
Way too many penalties. Many of which get back to a pathetic o-line. Not good...
Goff's turnovers need to stop. The lack of ball security is embarrassingly bad. And honestly, he isn't a good enough passer to shrug it off as taking the good with the bad. He had a great first half of last season. Other than that, he has been good but nothing special in his career. It might well have just been a hot streak last year. Why did that not occur to management before giving him that much guaranteed money? I actually like Goff. I think he can be a franchise QB for us. But I don't think he proved enough to justify that contract.
The play calling is bad. Worse, it's predictable. We seem to have been figured out on offense, to some extent. Gurley sure looked healthy to me on the few carries he got. Why not use him more? I sure hope the answer is not that his knee is damaged goods, because if it is, this team is definitely not a Super Bowl contender.
Defense was atrocious. Winston had all day. The tackling was poor. We had no answer to stop the pass (in particular Godwin), the run, and were completely incapable of getting off the field on 3rd down. It looked to me like the team did not take the Bucs offense seriously enough. Why that is I have no idea. Evans, Godwin, Howard, and Jones are some pretty solid weapons.
The injury to Rapp looked pretty bad. This will impact the defence significantly.
I was worried that this team would take a large step backward this year. So far, it seems to be the case. It's a long season. The Patriots did not look like Super Bowl contenders at the 1/4 mark of last season. But I am not optimistic the Rams will be turning this around any time soon.
I could vent much more but already have typed too much. On to Seattle.
