But why was it a major brain fart? If Stafford didn’t throw a bad pass or it was an incompletion those that are calling it a dumb ass play wouldn’t even remember the play even happened. The empty set had nothing to do with the decision that Stafford made to throw that ball.

I think it's a brainfart because it telegraphs pass on the very first play from scrimmage of the second half and took away a lot of guesswork for the D. When I saw them line up in that, I already had a bad feeling.

If it had been an incomplete, I'd still think it was a bad play call where we dodged a bullet.. If it was a complete pass, I'd think it was a bad play call where we got lucky.

There was simply no need for it at that point of the game. Even if you are going to pass in that situation, put a back in the backfield and make the defense have to think about it.

Not worth all that Otto !! :sunglasses::thumbsup1:

Stick with your Hawkeyes and more importantly the RAMS !!

Just another frustrating loss !!!! :angry4: - seen a few unfortunately. 315 losses since I have been a fan - and I'm sure there will be more.
Oh I will!! I'm just dramatic my friend!!! :)

I thought so too. Mentioned it a little earlier.
I saw that after I posted. Great minds! Might as well chalk up these games as losses since McVay is incapable of beating his mentors (except the one that mattered of course).

Can’t blame the refs for this one.
Missed FG’s gave up field position twice , and Higbees drop was big. Has he ever made a crucial catch ?
Of course the empty backfield int. was a back breaker. The game should’ve been a win by 10 plus.

When Stafford scrambled for the 1st down i thought we had this one...

To be fair, if you come out of year one of your youth movement with 5 core players that's pretty amazing. And Ernest Jones is one of the best young linebackers in the league so that's 6.
The last few weeks have made me wonder a bit about EJ being such an effective player.

I love you all, Ramily.

I don’t even want to think about this loss.

I’m just gonna avoid football for the week and check in here and there.

Games like this make me question things. Honestly, if we weren’t inflicting so many self-inflicted injuries, the reffing would have me on the verge.

This officiating has to be addressed. Even my youngest son, a new football fan in his mid 20s, watched this game and part of the Lions game and he walked out. He’s a potential new fan and his last few times watching NFL games, he’s frustrated to the point of not watching anymore.

The NFL can’t afford to alienate new fans who increasingly expect tech based fairness. They just can’t.

I hope the other half of this gummy kicks in so I can mellow out cuz I’m still angry enough to chew nails
I have heard an NFL official say that holding can be called on every play. I will add that PI can be called on every play. The question is why are the holds and PI’s called at the time they are called. Puca was mauled on a 3rd down pass…no call…the Rams barely touch the Steelers on an important 3rd down stop near the end of the game…and the flag flies. The Super Bowl was decided by a questionable PI call against the Eagles….these very very subjective calls are ruining the game. I no longer watch the NBA for these reasons.

I think if you could put Wonder Woman’s lasso of truth on McVay, he’d say he hates to run the ball and he wishes he’d never have to call another running play for the rest of his life.

Week in and week out we see teams game plan to beat the Rams and yet week in and week out the Rams play to the opposition strength
It wasnt the refs, it wasnt the missed kicks. This should have been a 2-3 touchdown lead.
McVay has lost it. That loss is solely on him. Like Cincinatti.
