This podcast interview is all over sports media today and the part that’s causing all the hubbub is where he says he’ll be “at peace”. The talking heads interpret it as he might retire but I read it as that he’s at peace if he doesn’t win another ring. There’s not much football news this time of year and sounds like they’re jumping all over any scrap.
It’s true he’s the 101st highest paid player right now but at one point he was #1. This isn’t a 2nd contract situation where the guy’s making peanuts like Lamar, the rams recognized how he’d outplayed his contract and redid it and now they’re willing to do it again.
Let me know when something really happens.

I didn't watch the full hour plus, but I made sure I caught the part about his salary. He says he doesn't think the drop-off between the QB and everybody else/the defense should be s big as it is. Did he think QBs should be paid less or does he think he should be paid like a QB? I think he's smart enough to know QB contacts aren't going down, so it stands to reason he wants $35m ish per season. That's a bit of a guess on my part, but I don't think it's a huge stretch given what he said.

I'm been and continue to be team AD unless its something outlandish like he wants QB money Rodgers money etc. Having said that it's cool to use negotiating tactics and he is doing it in a "polite" way as NFL network just said but nobody besides us in here have said and called out the elephant in the room. That being you negotiate til your heart's content but you need to be careful what your saying look no further than the aforementioned Rodgers. Get your bag but understand that one side of your mouth is talking business deservedly so but the other says a chance to win. A lot of teams give themselves a chance to win but how bad do you want another if an outlandish demand or amount cost the rams getting you help for another chip?

To sum it up get your bag AD your my hero but we all understand the reprocussions. Unless your saying you will take a shot and it is wt it is but as long as you get your bag and have a shot that's a bit worrisome.

I will always believe the best in AD however I'm waiting for some media person to interpret those statements a bit different something more like....

"AD basically saying field as competitive a team as you can I already got my ring love to add another but as long as we are competitive that's fine however I will need my bag"

There is a lot there and maybe leave the negotiations to the people that get paid to do it. Not the best look or perhaps plan.

a few points here folks...he is not represented by Yeezy in contact negotiations..Donda is simply a marketing group
Donda Sports is a marketing agency, so this won’t change who Donald is represented by when it comes to contract negotiations. It’s more about off-the-field opportunities for the Rams star.

2nd.. to the folks saying give him 35 mill a year.. what happens next year when someone else renegotiates their contract and is paid even more than AD... do we go this route again in 2023 and pay the guy 40 million?

He hasn't said he wants QB money, but he did say there shouldn't be as big of a drop-off as there is. Top paid defensive player makes what, $28-29 million (annual average)? There are only 13 QBs making more than that (annual average) and 2 more making $25m or more. So as the best defensive player he thinks he should be paid more than 13th highest paid QB? 35 million probably? I feel like that's unreasonable.

So thinking about recent events. AD just bought a new mansion in LA. AD signed with a marketing group in LA.

What’s the best place to market oneself in the “entertainment” industry. Answer:LA.

What’s the best way for a superstar athlete to maintain their marketability. Answer: Continue to play at a superstar level.

What if Donald is “at peace” with a fair contract that allows him to explore “entertainment” opportunities to augment his income in the best city in the world to explore such opportunities? Answer: Nothing so he signs an extension with the Rams to achieve all of the above.

.

He's all over the place. He wants to win, he wants his money. He's happy, he's not happy.

I don't care that he wants more money. Just don't talk shit. Or don't talk at all, like the last time the Rams went through this.

Yea its different when you see articles highlighting things, and then you see AD talk about it out of his own mouth. What about the fact that Kanye wanted him in a music video but AD said no its out of my element right now :laugh4:.

also @CGI_Ram feel free to merge this with the other AD thread if you want since there will be a lot of overlap. But people need to watch this podcast before they give their opinion because it's very telling how he feels.

No I know all that. I've said all along he should get paid. I'm hoping it's not anything outlandish was my point as well as I also wish something's would be better left to discuss behind closed doors as I can see how certain things can be misinterpreted or rock the boat to much. Hopefully it all works out but we went from like weeks ago that a deal was progressing swiftly and Kupp as well to now you just get a bit of a different feeling. I just hope it all works out.

I never appreciated "the highest paid" whatever. The way contracts go these days, you usually only "highest paid" for a year or two, then somebody else has a great contract year and they pass you. Pay him well, which is what he deserves.

I think $35m is pretty outlandish. That was my point. Dude wants to get paid, that's fine. He wants to get paid like a top 10 QB, $35 million? That's crazy.

Pay him and get it over with. AD has never slacked off. He's always ready to play and he leads by example. I never want to see him in another uniform.

Is that what he is asking for? I didn't know I haven't heard any specific numbers. Watt is 28 million rt? So what would you say is fair? 30? 32? This is where it gets crazy.
