I remember quite a bit from my youth, but at 5 years old then do not remember that game. The game I remember that season is when they played Washington on Monday Night football and they highlighted George Allen's return to California.

I remember thinking Tommy Prothro was not going to out coach Allen and I was right. Redskins won that game 38-24.
Yeah, Kermit Alexander returned an interception 80-plus yards for a TD on the opening drive but the Rams couldn't stop Billy Kilmer.

Kermit Alexander's life and experiences warrant mention. Quality NFL player for more than a decade.

Ten years after retiring, four members of Alexander's family (including his mother) were murdered by gang members sent to a home to kill everyone in it. The Mother-Fuckers went to the wrong house.

A number of years after that, Alexander and his wife were in Haiti doing charity work; and decided to adopt a child who was in an orphanage. The boy had 4 siblings. The Alexanders (who I believe were in their 50s) decided to adopt ALL FIVE children.

There are some fine people in this world.

I'm thinking I would have posted that instead of a bunch of clips of Dallas looking like they curb stomped us.
I was trying to focus on the uniforms, the 1971 highlights is like 25 minutes long, but I will take that under advisement for future postings.

Do you remember who the Rams traded to the 49ers to get Kermit Alexander back in 1970?
No ... I could look it up ... but I am going to have some fun trying to figure it out!

I know Alexander played for the Niners; and ... I believe ... he was in on the tackle that injured Sayers' knee.

One hint, I bet @David Ray would know who the Rams traded for Alexander. You are also correct, he was in on the tackle on Sayers.

That was a tough loss for an 11-year-old me.

First televised game I saw in color. Dallas returned the game-opening-kick-off for a touchdown.

Rams went 8-5-1 that year, beating the 49ers both times but the Niners won the Division with a 9-5 record; and made it to the Conference Championship before losing to a Dallas team that won the Super Bowl.

One day, I hope to be able to move-on from that game and season played almost 55 years ago. Some day.
And the RAMS went down the field and answered with a TD to tie the score 7-7.
And when Dallas was cheating back to set up another return, Ken Geddes recovered an onside kick off the foot of David Ray and the RAMS went ahead shortly thereafter, 14-7.
I subscribed to Pro Football Weekly publication during the years 1971-1977 and HOF DT Bob Lilly, whose nephew lived behind me in 71 and 72, was quoted in the game story, "Gabriel was REALLY HOT".

In Week 10 of 1967 the Rams traveled to Cleveland to play the Browns. Browns chose to wear white at home thus putting the Rams in their Blue jerseys. From week 11 1967 thru week 14 1970 (and including 2 Playoff Games) the Rams wore ONLY their White jerseys Home AND Away. A record FOURTY EIGHT (48) consecutive games. A record that surely will NEVER be broken. Week 1 of 1971 the streak finally came to an end as New Orleans chose to wear their Whites at Home against us.

This streak I feel gave that uniform set (1964-1972) a certain kind of Mystique. A rareness to seeing the blue jersey that i find ultra cool.
They wore the blue jerseys in the Playoff Bowl played in Miami in January of 1968 where they defeated Cleveland 30-6. Of course, the NFL has relegated those consolation contests to the dustbin of history. There is no recognition the game was even played on profootballreference website. But wikipedia DOES document it under 1967 LA RAMS.

If we count it, they would still have worn the white jerseys 43 consecutive. And still a record that will never be broken.
