As much as I absolutely hated the draft pick, Atwell has certainly grown on me. He's currently our favorite active Ram in my household and only wish he got more looks (in past and currently). He's the guy that can turn a 5 yard slant into a 70 yard TD. I'm glad McVay realizes he made a mistake by not playing him more. Dude has some great hands and gets up to full speed in a flash.

As for Akers, I mean he has his good runs, then he makes bone headed plays that could cost the team the game. I swear every run Williams had was close to 5 yards and MUCH closer to breaking a long one then Akers. Not sure I see a reason that Williams isn't starting and getting a bulk of the carries. Why is Brown touching the ball at all?

Good stuff OP.

Also, any post with a quote from Tommy Boy gets an automatic thread winner from me.

TuTu is proving he can play with the big boys and showed he has game moxy with him running into the db forcing the PI flag, that's a football smart move on his part.

Akers fumbling again at a critical moment. How many does that make going back to last year?

Hoecht is NOT an OLB, maybe 3rd and long. Guy can;t seal the edge, Raiders gained big yds on end arounds going Hoechts way.

Powell is going to break one eventually.

Skowronick elevating his game.
The Raiders let Hoecht take himself out of the play more than once. He should probably be a designated pass rusher on passing downs. Tutu is gaining confidence with every game. The kid has really good hands to go with that elite speed.

According to the site I checked (Pro Football Reference), Akers has three career regular season fumbles; plus the two huge ones in the Tampa playoff game

Hoecht looks like a 4-3 DE...not quick enough at OLB

Timing is everything isn't it. Earnest Byner comes to mind.

Skowronek and Atwell and Powell can be weapons if used properly. Based on what I have seen and of course, IMO.

1. "I swear I've seen a lot of stuff in my life, but that... was... AWESOME!!!"

- Tommy Boy Callahan
- me (12/8/22)

2. Holy crap on a stick. Did I actually just see Baker Mayfield lead a 98 yard game winning TD drive with 2 minutes, no timeouts, and only 48 hours in town?

3. Let's not take away from three other players who made this happen: Van Jefferson, Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell!!!! All had big catches!!!

4. Cam Akers owes all of those guys a big fruit basket!!!

5. Let's face it guys and gals... we needed this one. Its been a tough, tough season. Nice to have something to smile about.

6. So what does this mean going forward?

7. First, we have something to look forward to seeing for the next few weeks (particularly good for me, as I'm travelling to Lambeau for next Monday's game).

8. Second, we hopefully have our back-up for Matthew Stafford for next year.

9. Third, maybe a starting QB of the future?

10. I know... I'm getting ahead of myself. But Mayfield, with time to actually master the system and the benefit of Kupp and Robinson (along with others), could be a very good fit in this offense. He has the arm, he has the wheels... maybe he just needs McVay to take him to the next level?

11. I know... too soon. But, shit.... that was freaking exciting!!!!

12. Let's give credit to the defense - particularly Bobby Wagner, Ernest Jones and Greg Gaines - for keeping the game in reach after a shaky start.

13. Jalen Ramsey got beat a couple of times but, in the end, Davante Adams had only 3 catches (71 yards) on 7 targets.

14. The refs gave us a hard time with some picky calls, but they made up for it by not letting two clear penalties (PI, unsportsmanlike conduct) go on the last drive.

15. So... are the Browns happy the massaged their starting QB position the way they did, or is it the Rams who will have the happy ending?

16. Yeah... I went there!

17. Kyren Williams is continuing to earn a role, and Cobie Durant is looking like a keeper. Nice to see some production from the rookie class.

18. The graphic they put up on the telecast - only 5 starters from the Super Bowl have played in every game this year - tells you all you need to know.

19. Can't believe this Florida boy is going to a night game in Green Bay in December. My 20 Random Thoughts may be delayed next week until I return and my fingers thaw out.

20. Seriously... wow!
#19, be sure to post some pics for us. Thats a bucket list for me, but December is too cold. You'll have a blast though, I think we'll win too....

Makes me hope OBj is healthy and still in play for us in 2023, both Stafford & Mayfield have chemistry with the guy.
As stated before, Baker and OBJ do not get along. Despite OBJ being open in games Baker told him that he does not fit the offense that Stefanski runs. It’s nearly the same one McVay runs.
I goes to show how quick people are to forgive a tool like Mayfield. If the Rams can retain him I hope he’s matured past grudges.

Hating the pick is logical. The Rams drafted a receiver the year before. It was not a position of need, and to use a second round pick on an occasionally used deep threat is wasteful.

I don’t think anyone personally hated Atwell.

I disagree, he's just learning the position as well as slimming down a bit to augment his already crazy level of quickness.

He's already quicker off the ball than Floyd who's no slouch in his get off. The only Ram faster is AD, which... I mean... yeah.

He'll get there. If anything, McVay is mad that he didn't figure this out earlier (which is funny because a few of us have been on moving him to the outside for more than a minute...)

anyway, he's staying and likely is gonna grow into at least a strong rotational player for us... growing pains and all

Perhaps using the word 'chemistry' when referring to Mayfield > OBj was an oversimplification, although there has been some very nice video highlites circulating with the two connecting on multiple occasions.

Now I'm upset I didn't watch, I started making dinner, checked the score and it was 13-3 and I said oh well and turned on something else, the highlights were fun this morning though
I got a text about Baker effing Mayfield and I went back and was able to rewind the last couple minutes and postgame so I could see what all the fuss was about.
