The fact is that Jeff Fisher had to sign off on Les Snead's hiring. I do think Fisher had a thing for athletic freaks and Snead accommodated him with Brian Quick and Gregg Robinson. Another indication that Fisher was held to a higher standard than Snead was how only Fisher was fired and not Snead at the end. I think Snead knew knew Fisher was going to be fired that last year because he was curiously quiet and in the background that whole season, unlike before and after that year. He was keeping low and let Fisher flail out before the cameras....
Fisher was the definition of a mediocre NFL head coach. Good defensive minded coach brought to earth by being a below average offensive minded coach. Man those Rams offenses under him were hard to watch.

Well, I wasn't responding to how good a HC he was. I was backing Merlin's comments about Fisher having some control of who was chosen in the draft. Snead simply fulfilled his wishes for athletic freaks with little regard for football intelligence and love for the game. With AD, Gurley and Goff being the exceptions.

I'm sure Les made him some epic cups of coffee.

Sorry I wasn’t meaning to reply to your post as much as add my 2 cents on Fisher.

Check this out. Both Young and Puka are taken in the 1st round of this re-draft.

I just tried to post this but I’m tech challenged. Quite a compliment to a team that did not have a first round pick.

How do I add a link to an article?

Avila wasn't a high profile pick but he's been solid too. Kobie's starting to excel. We know Puka and Young are good. To find 4 good starters without a first round pick is impressive. And lets not forget our rookie punter. He's a keeper too. That makes 5 solid picks. The jury's still out on the others. Tomlinson's got skills but has a lot to learn. If he can figure it out he can be another keeper.

I'm pretty sure jfm played his rookie season. And quite well. He had a sack in the superbowl.

Which made his release next season at final cuts rather curious.

.
And dude has been a stud for Jets. Really curious what happened there. By all reports, he didn't have a good camp with us the following year.

I just copied the link and pasted it into the post. But sometimes, depending on the platform from which you're posting, things might get squirrely and not work. Tech is like that.

Click on the url at the top of the article. When it turns blue hit copy. Then paste it in a text box here.

Some articles have this at the bottom or top which is a way to copy it also.

Right on the $$.
He never got the offense going, mainly due to personnel choices, IMO, but he made this defense legit in his first season (2012). IIRC, the Rams tied for the league lead in sacks in either his first or second season.

That first season under Fisher the Rams won two games (seahawks and 9ers) without the offense scoring a TD. Hekker threw a TD vs the seahawks on a fake FG in one, and Jenkins scored on a scoop and score vs the 9ers for the only TDs the Rams scored in those games.

That defense excelled against the new running QBs (wilson, bobby 3, and krapernick) but the Ram offense was putrid.

I'm not giving-up on Hampton just yet.
No reason to give up but look at his college highlights and how he plays now...he just lacks power. He wouldn't have made opening-day roster if Mathis was healthy.

So, to me, he never look good, even in preseason. BUT---nothing is over this fast. He does have speed and maybe a year in the weight room and learning some hand techniques----he could turn out.

But Mathis looks the part. Hapmton didn't

Mathis looks the part, but he doesn't play the part, and hasn't played the part since he left TCU. Hampton, in my opinion, should be shifted to inside linebacker. He simply doesn't have the power or length for outside work, but I feel he has the speed necessary for coverage and the length necessary to get past guards and centers, especially with AD and Turner taking on blocks.

Keeps getting better!

All the regulars… plus …
How about motherfucking Davis “Mitts” Allen?!?!????
4 catches for 50 and a TD???
Wow!!
And Nick Hampton played.. got a tackle!! Looked like he was lined up as a 4-3 OLB to me.

Amazing class.

I don’t think either is any kind of long term solution.

Allen emerging is huge for this team. Higs has looked beat up for weeks now. Long's moment comes up and big surprise he gets hurt. Then out of nowhere the kid comes in there and is blocking on that edge and catching key passes. Such an immensely positive sign for us given the current balance of the team.

Watching what he can do the rest of the season is going to be a lot of fun. Because he is going to be a lot more involved now that the coaches know he can handle the moment.

More great stuff!
Davis Allen with another grab.. and Nick Hampton!! A big pass deflection!!

A note on Hampton.. some have suggested he be moved to ILB... I don't think he can handle a role like Earnest Jones, for example. But he seems to be being used like a 4-3 OLB.. I'm curious if he's going to be good enough to define a role for himself in certain packages.
