You guys? which guys?!. I find your comment inappropriate, because I would not have a heart attack over Goff missing OTA's...

Whatever is going on its probably obvious that things are currently in the works. Lets see what happens though, and if the absences mean anything worth getting worked up over....

Yeah, I think that it's strange that McVay wasn't notified of a reason for the absence.

Just common courtesy and it would have eliminated all this unwanted and unnecessary drama today.

Don't think it's a contract final negotiation, either. If that were occurring, the Rams and McVay would have been fully aware, as they were with AD.

Like I said. Very strange.

Now AD i can somewhat understand since hes the best DT in the league but is still on his first contract. Tru who IS NOT the best CB but is getting paid like he is....thats what i have a problem with

Tru misses a day and everyone assumes other than why he really missed. Probably something trivial. His alarm clock didn't go off, he couldn't find his keys, his wife was sick, his kid got in trouble at school and he had to go to the principals office, he got in a fender bender on the way to OTA's, he cut his finger slicing onions and had to go get stitches.............

If theres a legit chance they work out an extension, its probably in his best interest to skip all OTAs. no reason to risk injury if you might be making 30m+ in the coming weeks. thats my 2 cents anyway

So its ok for rookies who haven't even signed contracts yet, and have $0 guaranteed at the moment to show up, but the guy guaranteed 16.7 has a good reason?

All I know is that if any of the following were tru, I would be at every team activity

I had a down year in 2016 and have never performed consistently at the elite level despite entering this season as the highest paid CB in football.

I am currently being significantly over compensated as the highest paid ram which may be stalling a long term deal for the best player on the team.

I have a new defensive coach and system.

of course there are some unknowns such as maybe he's already familiarized himself with the scheme and/or maybe he tweaked a muscle or something and doesn't want to bring it to the teams attention. And there may be other reasons but if they include something like he just didn't feel like it or he had better things to do, then I wonder why he thinks he should be the highest paid corner in the league, given the circumstances that we are aware of.

comparing apples to oranges there. 1st, rookies have an injury protection or whatever you want to call it where the team MUST negotiate in good faith if they are hurt before signing contract. Secondly, nearly half of a team's draft picks are going to be fighting to make the roster so missing time as a rookie on the bubble vs a seasoned vet who has proven to be a solid starter in the league is quite the difference. Thirdly, top 10 CB money that Tru is sure to get is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than a rookie pay in todays game.

Sounds like making a mountain out of a mole hill. It's voluntary practices. Just about every team has players out for one reason or another. Let's find out what's up first.

You think the injury settlement a rookie would get would compare to that of a vet player?
Not understanding where you are going mostly as you seem to be agreeing with me, not disagreeing.
Tru is making 16.7 this year no matter what

its not a settlement, its a protection in that an injury can result in a team trying to give their rookie less than what they are suppose to make based on the cba rookie wage scales. yes, its less than tru's 16.7m but its a 4 year contract where as tru's is 1 year. a rookie has little to no leverage/reason to sit out OTAs for contract reasons because they are basically guaranteed a certain contract based on where they were draft. Tru has leverage/reason to sit out OTAs because he only locked up for 1 year so an injury is WAAAAAAAAAAY more likely to affect his next contract than an injury would affect a rookies because its so far away.

There is a reason most players hate playing under the tag, and its because they prefer a long term deal in case of an injury, which is exactly what every drafted rookie is guaranteed to get once they are drafted.

This is a good example of how the Aaron Donald situation can spread to the minds of other players who are under the incorrect assumption that they also deserve special treatment. It's also part of the reason I mentioned in the AD thread that I'm not happy he chose to not be there in year one of a new regime whose slogan is "We not Me."

Trumaine is under contract for a lot of money this season in spite of lower end production, so it's a bad call by him and his agent to pull this stunt when he is going to be on the market next year. Dumb call IMO, because he should be absorbing everything he can from this staff and working to establish his production to match how well he's planning on being paid. So here's hoping someone like Gaines takes full advantage and it all blows up in Tru's face.

IF it were my call, I would trade Trumaine right now for the best offer I can find. Corners are a need for a lot of teams in terms of upgrading the position for this season, and someone will move a pick for him and probably pay him too. I'm sure Cleveland, for example, would love to have him step right into Williams' defense there.
