This is where we devolve into politics, because I believe that everyone has opportunity and are allowed to "pursue happiness.", but no one is guaranteed equal results due to different abilities. Kaep was an ok QB, but not that good. Certainly no team should be forced to sign him.
Nice points, I never thought about the 14th Amendment in the argument. It's too bad that the Amendment was useless for almost a century due to the North being weary of well doing, and the pullout of troops in the crooked bargain between the Rutherford Hayes vs Tilden scandal (Union troops left the South in the deal to make Hayes President).

Again, I'm talking about the protests, not Kaepernick's employment. The reason for Kaepernick's protests and the current protests is the (valid imo) belief in the Black community that they are not treated equally by the criminal justice system (and police in particular). So yeah, I don't have much patience for people who get so hung up on being upset about how the flag was treated that they can't be bothered to think or care about the people being harmed because we are failing to ensure that the values that the flag represents are upheld. Anyways, I've strayed far from football and will move along now that I've made that clear.

This after Kap tweeted “let in rain”. Kap’s kneeling in this context tells you where He is at. He buys the “America is Racist at its core” narrative sold by media, academia and politicians lining their pockets.

The facts are startling. Do yourself a favor and set the media propaganda aside. To claim that the Police are disproportionately racist against African Americans is not factual. In 2018, the latest year for which data was published, African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and committed 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population. That is a problem.

Meanwhile the amount of African Americans killed by caucasians is less than 1%. The amount of whites killed by blacks is 10% and the amount of blacks killed by blacks is 50%.

The facts matter. This narrative of
White cop systemic racism is not supported by the facts. The black community needs more help, educational opportunity, Economic stimulus etc to deal with the rate of fatherless young black men running around without direction.

In my book, the cop that killed George Floyd should get the maximum penalty. So should any racist of any kind. It’s sickening. Racism is going both ways right now and it sickens me.

But to demonize the police, the country or “white people” who make up over 70% of our country’s is evil and racist also.

There is no America without law and order. So stop demonizing the police who are 99% good people charged with keepin you safe, as the data shows. Stop buying the media and non factual narratives.

Peacefully speak out against the racists, prosecute the 1% of racist cops and stop disrespecting the police and the people who fight for your freedom.

Why do they play the national anthem before games anyway? It's almost fascist in intent.

It's weird to people that don't live in America.

It was first played at a sporting event during WWI (MLB game), and afterwards other clubs in various leagues would sing it for special occasions. Then towards the end of WWII the NFL commissioner ordered that it would be played at the beginning of every NFL game, so that's when it started.

It used to be that players were in the locker room at the time though, but after 9/11 the military began paying the NFL to have their players all come out for the National Anthem, and have the giant flag and the flyovers and such as a recruiting tool.

Yes, the NFL gets paid by the Government, even today, to have soldiers at their events waving flags and jets flying overhead.

I hope Goff can find a better way around this question. If it caused duress for Brees and the Aints then every reporter working the NFL will be wanting to ask that question, fishing for some stories, or trying to create some.

Goff has said a few things and they have been the right thing from what I can see, McVay said that he will allow the players to protest if they wish, so I'm guessing that Goff shares that same thought.

I strongly disagree with some of the posters here but by the end of the day, we're Rams fans here on a united front so I won't let my personal beliefs get in the way of that.

The facts are startling. Study after study has analyzed the issue and found that Black people are disproportionately subjected to detention, searches, and use of force even after you remove other variables. In one of the more famous and egregious examples, the City of New York and NYPD were sued for their policy of stop and frisk that disproportionately targeted Black and Latino people. The results of the studies done on the NYPD's data were actually staggering. Despite being stopped significantly less often, white people who were stopped and frisked were MORE likely on average to be caught with contraband than Black and Latino people stopped. Yet, New York City and the NYPD continued to make it a policy to target Black and Latino people. The federal district court held that policy to be unconstitutional and chastised them in the order. (The case is named Floyd v. City of New York.)

Ironically enough, while deadly force is the issue that garners the most attention, studies have actually found race not to be a causal factor once you account for other variables. But that doesn't change the fact that in every other aspect of policing, Black people are disproportionately targeted, and the explanations outside of race have been ruled out. That also holds true in other parts of the criminal justice system (charging decisions, plea bargaining, sentencing, etc.). If you'd like, I am happy to offer up literature for you to read that will evidence what I am saying.

We have a racism problem in this country. But blacks are not innocent in all this and in fact for a conversation to take place people have to be able to say what they think. You gotta air those grievances, get that shit out there and discuss it. And this is where our current culture of being terrified of insulting someone makes everyone toe the line and choose words carefully instead of getting it the fuck out there and moving forward.

Lastly lighting shit on fire is a bad way to show that you're being treated unfairly. People can rationalize it all they want but I'm not buying that. I may be white but I'm not afraid to tell people when they're being assholes (this includes blacks) and if they want to take it beyond that I'm down.

My family has been in California since 1898, I've served and bled for this country. My nephew whose home I'm sitting in right now is deployed as career Army. My niece is career Navy. Military service has been a part of my family since day one. Yet I've had my share of badge carrying bozos tell me to "go back to where I came from". I lived in San Diego and moved to Mexico simply because I couldn't afford to retire in the US at the level of life I wanted. Since I've been here in AZ I've had more than place tell me they don't rent to my kind. We've been turned away from all of the more upscale apartments. So we have given up trying to rent but decided to try to buy instead.

Unless you have personally experienced it you have no idea of the rage it fills you with. Brees is your typical privileged idiot who prefers to remain clueless as to what is really going on in this country. I have to wonder how he can sit there when he has never served. No, he was too busy making millions while he let others protect his rights and liberty. A huge percentage of those people are of color. Brees is a hypocrite.

He's stupid and doesn't realize it's not about the flag. It's about institutionalized racism. My ex-wife is white with German ethnicity yet she still carries on with my last name. Her own family gives her grief about it and she reminds them that my family accepted her with open arms and still considers her a part of the family so she is not about to turn her back on her "other family". We got a lot of flak being a mixed-race couple. So she knows first hand what it is. I asked her about it and she laughs and says it's better than her maiden name which half the family back in the old country supported Hitler. She says the jokes on them because my father probably fought her relations and was on the winning side.

The flag is a symbol of our country, which was founded by liberal radicals upon radical liberal principals. To be reactionary is actually anti-American because it goes against everything this country was founded upon. During the Revolutionary War to be a conservative you were a Tory wanting to stay under King George. Brees needs to go to NYC and read what is on the Statue of Liberty. It makes it clear that this country isn't about one culture or nationality. We are a blend of the world. That's our strength and what makes this country special. It's not where you come from but who you are as a person that counts.

What Kap was protesting is exactly the same thing all those people in the streets are protesting. The racial and economic inequities in this country and not the flag itself. But if you want to take it there, then the flag is a symbol of hope for a better life FOR ALL AMERICANS NOT JUST SOME.
