Well
bored waiting GIF
well - I guess I was wrong.

Special teams was one reason, but he has speed & size which made no sense when thinking about it.

The 2nd one is moving player from practice squad to game day rosters.

I think with the rule change it adds another avenue to rosters ?

Depth wise though with basically just Jones & Wagner the LBer position is depleted without Howard or a capable player there.

Howard might be that veteran guy play calling now that he resigned making the calls in the preseason making sure everyone knows what’s going on. Having Jones,Wagner, & Howard all being able to wear the green helmet adds to consistency from that position throughout the season no matter who is playing there.
In essence the QB(3rd string) on defense. Well those are my wacky thoughts on it.

Come September & during the season a lot of different roster changes that will go unnoticed because of injuries & late information. Then come Monday it changes again & plAyers move around again.

Not surprised, good depth player who finally got over the major injury bug last year and contributed with some memorable play. I'm glad he didn't take the pay cut personally and leave.

Travin's interception got some of these 49's fans all doing the same pose! Best moment ever for me at a game. 49's fans hitting the escalators like a mad cow stampede to follow a few minutes later.

Howard wanted to stay :) And the opportunity presented itself. They shouldn't have even considered releasing him from his contract. Or is this a corporate game? :)
I think it was just a good move.

I'm glad that Howard's back. He's a key special teams player, but he's also one of the better backups in the league. Love his coverage ability, and he's a hell of a tackler for his size. If Jones/Wagner go down (and I hope they don't), I'm comfortable with Howard.

Pretty certain it was just a $-issue.

They released him when he carried a $2.54M cap-hit. Waiting to see what he re-signed for but certainly less than $2.54M.

Glad he's back. He's got value on special teams, and he can make plays on defense

Sean McVay and the Rams’ other coaches reported for training camp at UC Irvine on Friday and the head coach kicked things off with a press conference. He shared some bad news about Travin Howard, who pulled his groin while training on his own.

McVay said Howard might be a candidate to land on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list, and he may also need surgery to repair the issue.

Being placed on the PUP list wouldn’t rule out Howard for any part of the season, but it would give him time to recover before eventually practicing and playing in preseason games. It would open up a roster spot for the Rams to bring someone else in until Howard is healthy.

Howard is currently penciled in as the No. 3 linebacker behind Bobby Wagner and Ernest Jones, and his playing time is expected to be limited anyway.

He can't stay healthy just like Henderson

Rozeboom and Hummel are the next men up for special teams. I hope Howard comes back, but if he doesn't, I feel that we're in safe hands with Wagner and Jones.
