League sources tell me the following about the trade deadline:
  • The Jaguars are listening on calls for WR Brian Thomas Jr., even if a move feels highly unlikely. They’re also shopping for defense.
  • The Ravens, Colts, Lions and Rams are making calls for a corner.
  • The Steelers are making calls about adding a wide receiver.
  • The Broncos are monitoring the tight end market.
  • Last week, I reported that the Titans were listening to offers for any player not named Cam Ward or Jeffery Simmons. One name catching the eye of multiple teams, I’m told? Cornerback Roger McCreary, who is in the final year of his rookie deal.
  • The Bengals are still not planning on moving Trey Hendrickson.
  • Keep an eye on the Jets; teams have been showing interest in DT Quinnen Williams, although New York’s asking price is massive.
  • The Bills are looking for help at safety and wide receiver.
  • Barring an unforeseen change, the Saints are not expected to move WR Chris Olave despite interested suitors. Last week, I reported that the two sides are discussing an extension.

Since the Rams won a Super Bowl trading for Ramsey, OBJ and Von Miller mid-season, league activity is really pushing the price up on trades. I am not sure the Rams are willing to pay what it might take to acquire the CBs available. I think they will wait for Witherspoon. He could be ready for Detroit, Seattle, Atlanta and Arizona. Maybe sooner. That would probably be better than overpaying and working in a new guy into the system.

I wonder what the Vikings price would be on Jordan Addison? I know he’s had some personal issues with them but he can play. I doubt they have any real motivation to trade him, but still just an idea.

I’m thinking CB and OT
Maybe OG instead of OT, but concur with CB.

CB...Alontae Taylor (Saints)...Should not cost much can play inside and outside and has nice size at 6'0 198lbs.

Guard...Wyatt Teller (Browns)...Highest rated guard can play LG & RG as IMO, the Rams have plenty of depth at Tackle with McClendon looking good and Humphries & Quessenberry.

I don't have a problem with the guards we have. Center though - that's another story

Is Taylor better than what we're currently putting out there?

Nate Adkins threw out a couple of names for the Rams in his recent mailbag on the Athletic. I am not sure about these players, but that could be more the market we are poking at.

Roger McCreary is on a Tennessee Titans squad that has already fired its coach and isn’t playing for much. The 25-year-old hasn’t made as many plays on the ball as in recent seasons, but a career 7.5 yards per target allowed and 37 starts provide some reliability. He can play inside and outside, which could open up a little more versatility with Quentin Lake. You just wish he were a little bigger than 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, given that physical receivers pose the biggest threat to the Rams right now. But I imagine the cost could be a Day 3 pick.

Cam Taylor-Britt is on a Cincinnati Bengals team that’s still trying to win after trading for Joe Flacco, while hoping Joe Burrow can return later this season. But the 26-year-old was a healthy scratch last Thursday. Even at his best, Taylor-Britt is a boom-or-bust player, allowing a career 9.4 yards per target but with seven interceptions and 35 pass breakups. He offers some man and zone versatility. And the relationship between Rams coach Sean McVay and Bengals coach Zac Taylor could help facilitate a landing spot if he needs a fresh start.

Think there is a WR the Jags must really like in this upcoming draft or something going on behind the scenes we don't know about.
Thomas has been terrible this year. Lots of drops and mediocre production compared to last year. The Travis Hunter effect?

He's also been nursing a wrist injury for awhile that could possibly be affecting his ability to catch. His quarterback also isn't great. Hunter I'm not so worried about he's been just okay not great so him being there shouldn't really be affecting Thomas Jr. I personally think Travis Hunter is way overrated at this point. He's got time but honestly didn't think he was the best coming out of the draft either.

Thomas is hearing footsteps over the middle. That's not a good thing. Kind of thing that can be hard to fix and will affect his value in trade. Basically his value to the Commodes, based on the chances of coaching him through that, is probably greater than what teams will give them right now for him.

I'm not even sure if that's it (could be who really knows) but it is really weird to trade a 2nd year WR coming off of a 1300 yard season. I don't think he'll get traded as I'm guessing he's being dangled to see if they can use him to get a really high pick or get a good player in return for their defense. Maybe their eyeballing my favorite WR in the draft, Jordyn Tyson :laugh2:
