A shout out to Tomlin for officially continuing his impressive streak of winning seasons as head coach. I bet Fish would have loved some of that during his 7-9 BS streak.

But watching that Steeler vs Seahawk game pointed out a subtle difference in style that our young, already-accomplished coach could do well to adopt.

Multiple times, when the Seahawks were trying to catch up late, Tomlin would call unexpected pass plays on obvious run out the clock snaps that sealed this game.

We’ve seen many games where we’ve let the other team hang around and in some cases, win when they had no business doing so (including the Steelers), and I hope McVay can learn something from what Tomlin did against the Seahawks late.

I really do consider Tomlin to be a quality NFL Head Coach. However, the last time he won a playoff game, Sean McVay was the Offensive Coordinator in Washington.

17 straight seasons of playoffs is crazy. Steelers fans are spoiled by that I think.

They are one of the NFL darling teams that seem to get every call in their favor. That must be nice.

They do have a well run organization and draft very well also. Giving the devil his due.

McVay has won and lost the same amount of Superbowls in 10 less years. Just sayin.

Against us they did, but I have seen some pretty bad calls go against them as well.

All Steeler fans know this fact

I really like Tomlin but sometimes I wonder if the NFL has passed him by in terms of offense. He'll always field a competitive team. But I am unsure if he has the chops to win it all in this day and age. The Steelers offense has been inconsistent for many years now, some of which it had lots of talent. And it cannot always be the OC's fault.

Oh I thought these were prop bets on Tomlin. My bad.

Tomlin is a very good coach any team that fires him deserves to suck for decades.

Yeah, but i’ll never forget the ridiculous Goff “fumble” TD where everyone in the stadium knew it was just an incomplete pass.

The worst one sided reffing for the Steelers was in the SB against the Seahawks. That was highway robbery start to finish. And I was rooting AGAINST the Seahawks :)

There was no way the Stealers were going to lose that "super"bowl

And a few years later against Warner and the Cards, the first half was all calls against the Cards, and none against the Stealers.
They tried to make it look fair after that, but the damage had been done.

NFL is fixed. Stealers are one of the "face" teams, to use pro wrestling terms.
Huge fanbase, more money is made on merchandise when they "win".

And they want him gone. So bizarre.

They point to the lack of playoff wins, but think about it....Belichick, Reid and McVay...nobody else has really won a ton. Pederson who got driven out of Philly and then you're all the way back to Carroll who has had comparable playoff success to Tomlin.

My theory is that Niners/Cowboys/Steelers fans struggle to accept that the success they experienced never would have occurred in the free agent era. A larger contingent of Cowboys and Niner fans have accepted this (not a ton, but more than Steelers fans I think) because the Steelers randomly won two Super Bowls during the Brady/Belichick era, and I think continued/perpetuated their unrealistic expectations.

Not 17 straight playoff seasons.

17 seasons without a losing record. Which is impressive.

Tomlin's Steelers have gone to the playoffs ten times but have not won a playoff game since 2016.

They haven't won a playoff game since 2016 but how many other coaches would have won with old Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph or Kenny Pickett, while navigating the Antonio Brown and Leveon Bell situations?

I agree. There have been times that McVay gets too conservative, too soon. Or he just gets too content to run and eat up clock with far too much time on the clock.

When the offense is clicking I’d just keep doing what’s working and get up by 3-4 scores with this shaky defense.
