He slimmed down this year to get quicker. I'd have him bulk back up for next year. Doesn't have the same power right now. But I don't blame the guy for not running himself into the ground for Fisher.
If he's dogging it because of Fisher, he's not worth a hot damn!:poop:

He's not dogging it. But I think most of us have played football. You play differently for a coach you believe in than you do for a coach you don't. And it's not intentional.

I'm not sure how to define his struggles, but I can tell you when the camera spots him on the sideline, he always looks very pissed. I would never question his effort, but at what point do you as a player just say f it. We could be witnessing this kid's confidence disappear.

I just bought his jersey to wear for next week's game against the Patsies. Hope he shows up BIG!

He has appeared upset in his press conferences and he looks frustrated on and off the field on game days. I hope Stan brings in a coach that can recapture that fire Gurley played with last year.

Switch Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurley to the opposite teams and the production would be the same. Elliott would suck and Gurley would be All Pro.

This was Gurley before the ACL. He didn't need PEDS to recover. He still wasn't 100% last year. I think he has developed limited vision because of the brick walls he's been running into all year. He needs get a better O-line and refocuse on how he runs. I think he played better when he was bigger too.

So our Oline was that good last year?

Last week I heard one of the commentators say Gurley lost "15 pounds" for this season. That would mean he is roughly down to 212 pounds this year. That's quite a bit.

I have my own theories about play design and him doing what he's supposed to do vs. doing what he can do ... but that being said, he needs to spend some time in the weight room and more time consuming protein in the offseason to put back on the weight he took off in the offseason. Even on that big pass he got early in the game, it seemed like the explosion wasn't there at the end of teh run ... I think if that same pass goes to last year's Gurley, it goes for six.

I agree. Last year he would pick a hole and accelerate through it. Now he seems to be trying to do too much before things develop-- maybe due to lack of confidence in his offensive line.

I'd like someone to show him some tape on La'Veon Bell. Dude is probably the most patient runner in a ZBS I've ever seen.

Also like to add. I like Gurley but this is why you dont invest 1st round picks into RBs anymore (especially top 10) unless hes like Barry Sanders good. You can find quality RBs in the 2nd round and on like David Johnson, Jay Ajayi, Devonta Freeman, Leveon Bell, Lesean McCoy. This is just a few non 1st round RBs. The list goes on and on.
Put anyone on this team and you would be saying the same thing.

After his 1st 5 games last year he's played at this level. Same bad blocking and High School plays ne had in those 1st 5 games. Blah Blah Blah.

Teams got enough film on him now to know his tendencies. Kinda simple to stop him right now. Watch his eyes and shoulders. even before he snap they know where he;'s running. He never looks off defenders, he runs where he looks and squares he shoulders to where the hole should be not where it is.
He needs to work with ED and learn how to disguise his intent.

Yeah when he can stay healthy. And that offensive line is better the qb is better and the wide outs are better. Which definitely helps the run game

I was more so referencing how he runs. His style is definitely unique for the position.

He clearly does not have the burst speed or power of last year.

I think he is beat up and physically hurting in many places.

There is almost no blocking in front of him and up till now he has been forced by Fisherball into constant 8-9 man fronts which has worn him down.

He's not breaking tackles and he's not running patiently. He needs to bulk back up this offseason and start breaking those tackles that he did last year.

I have never heard this mentioned before, but I have been thinking this since the third game of the season. Gurley was lighter than he was the previous season, and hasn't got a 100 yard game since last year. sure, he has faced stacked boxes all year, but he just isn't the same guy to me.

PEDS?

Was he so good and came back from the ACL surgery running so well because of PEDS, and then quit taking them around the time he started sucking last year? All I know is the guy I see on the field is a pretender compared to last season.
I have mentioned his lighter weight probably 20 times in different threads. I don't think it is the sum of his issues but it could certainly have an effect.
No idea what his weight is now but he came into camp lighter. This means work he did in his own.
Not to sound like a jerk but a lot of athletes are not very bright. I don't mean their IQ I mean they don't take time to research stuff themselves.
A trainer gets it in their head about getting into "great shape" which is largely worthless for guy in an explosive sport.
I cannot tell you how many times working with pitchers I have to ween them off of this BS. Distance running, cross fit, P90X or whatever. BS.
Anyway. All speculation. Who knows what is weight is now. PEDs? No way of knowing but assume not until proven otherwise.

I think a coaching change will benefit quite a few players. A breath of fresh air is badly needed.

It makes me slightly crazy to be Linehan doing well in Dallas. The Rams tried the coordinators Linehan, Spags with no success. They are trying the established NFL HC with limited successes.
I don't like college coaches cing into the NFL as HC.
So, who knows?
Non idea what direction they go.
