Again, with not being a doctor how can you claim it is needed...just silly.

I've encountered numerous injuries. And in eery single case I've felt back to normal before the doctor(s) have given me permission to get back to normal activity. Most recently, I broke my elbow...doc hasn't told me to resume working out but I feel fine doing push ups and curls.

Again, I just don't understand how a coach can tell a player he isn't ready when a doctor has. Now, if a doctor says a player can run but isn't cleared for full contact it's one thing. Or if a doctor says he could go but probably shouldn't, fine...but if the doctor says he's all systems go and you still sit him it sure seems to me that you're taking an unnecessary precaution.

1. Doctor's don't know what a player feels like.
2. Leg injuries are not equivalent to elbow injuries for a DB, who relies primarily on their legs to make plays.
3. What is the rush to get TJ back on the field??? He'll get back on the field when its time and I would define "time" as; two to three weeks of practice reps.

What the heck are you talking about?

I'm not rushing him on the field. I'm saying that when he is cleared and ready to come back you don't make an argument that he needs to sit out.

An elbow isn't the same as a knee...no kidding?

C'mon guys. All NFL HCs rely on their medical/rehab staff for these kind of decisions. If they say he's good to go, he'll play. Fisher will have at least 3 weeks to get McDonald into football shape, once the medical staff clears him to practice. Besides, they've got big things planned for McDonald; they aren't going to take chances. But they do want to get McDonald back on the field. There's the little thing called PT that's so important to rookies who are ear-marked to start.

Just saw this ...I know many of us were waiting on any news on our star rookie DB !

Rookie safety T.J. McDonald has returned to practice from a broken leg that landed him on injured reserve/designated for return. McDonald must miss one more game, before he's eligible to return.

That's great news. I'd love to see him get some more experience this season. Good for TJ!

How do you get in football shape without playing the game??? Practicing does not get you there. He has already been working out for a while and even though a broken leg is serious it isn't like he tore up a knee. If the medical staff gives him the ok to start practicing they aren't worried about the leg any more. The coaching staff will have his long term health in mind and he will get back out there this year. They haven't completely given up on this year and that includes the young guys getting more reps at game speed. McD needs it to get better for next year just as much or more than the other youngsters.

I read on another site he just return to practice but still has to wait a week to play for
what ever reason.

Just for the record, broken bones heal faster and better than soft tissue injury. Experience.
Yes sir. Those soft tissue injuries linger on forever.

I'm excited for TJ to get back. he was really a bright spot early in the year. Played like a vet.
