Trying to place any blame on one person in this dumpster fire of an offense is a fool's errand.

The same O line except healthier, had no problem generating running lanes last year. This year apparently nothing. I'm not saying it is Gurley's fault, but I would like to see a whole game with another back make a judgment as to whether he may be part of the problem. Last year I remember so many runs where I was in awe as he made something out of nothing. This year I only have one or two runs where I have been impressed and viewed his run as elite level. Last year it was at least 1 or 2 times a game where he made me feel there wasn't other backs that could make a run. I feel it is worth a look.
Even a mediocre RB could have busted more than two runs of 20+ yards in a full season being the featured back.
Barber said it perfectly earlier. It's also him.
Wooooo
The only sense that's it's him is he is so beat up that he is a shell of his self.
Thats what happens when an archaic coach runs a back to the ground behind a bad oline.
@Ram65 he lost 17 pounds in the offseason. I've been saying for awhile he looks like a guy who has a bad flu virus, sluggish and weak compared to normal. Something is up.
So the same coach that coached up several rookies and effectively established the run with them despite injuries, suddenly failed to coach them this with all of them returning and adding a healthy Saffold too! I for one think it is a combination and Gurley has also underperformed compared to his efforts last year.
Lost weight and looked slower, that is for sure, in fact, there a times it seemed he was one step away. Gurley's position coach was changed too and I did not understand why the Rams made a change there. Ben Sirmans IMO actually did a good job with the Running Backs, however, when they brought in Groh, they hired Peete too who was unemployed, but had a very good resume.
Overall, Gurley is very frustrated like many of us, but help is on the way, IMO, the new Head Coach will actually be able to spell offense, let alone run one. Add in new coaches across the board and hopefully things will start trending upward because God knows that although we don't take the hits like Gurley, we have fans have been dealing with this futility for much longer than he has.
Well, we are about to find out because the new Head Coach will will have a flair for offense and I don't care about the rumors about Rivera, we all know the next Head Coach will either be Asshole Face or Kyle Shanahan with his father having a key role in the organization too. This team has good enough talent on O to be middle of the pack with someone that can design and call plays better.

The Offensive Line Coach hire will be huge too, but one can hope that Gurley will be rejuvenated with the new coaching staff, I'm not as confident as you Les with the talent, but the next Head Coach better be prepared to not only be able to sell his concept, but the ability to win too. That is going to be the key to gain the buy in, you must win!
I'm not as concerned about who the HC is as most people. The OC, and as you point out, OL coach will be (IMO) more important.
