Defense needed more help than the offense, it makes sense we're going to see big changes. Last year we saw a lot of new faces on offense, this year it's defense.

I also share the same concerns. We need to find our second TE option if we cannot address Watkins’ void. Thus far, we’ve struck out on resigning him and landing Eifert. We definitely need to address one or the other. And you bet McVay knows this too!

Another point that concerns me too is the loss of our offensive specialists, LeFleur and Olson, which I’ve mentioned in the past. I know McVay runs the ship, but losing those two coaches, along with our “#1” (although we’re more like the Patsies in that we don’t have a primary wideout) plus not having another big TE target should be cause for concern no matter how genius McVay is.

With all that said, I still shoot for Evans or Landry if we don’t land OBJ with that first pick.

despite all the action on defense, I still want to use our draft to go hard at LB ...then address OT depth.

I'm very excited at the prospect of our line having this 2nd year together but not sure how many years Whit is going to play.

I feel good about our skill players and won't be worried if we move forward without a veteran replacement for Watkins.

I have a feeling the offense will take a slight step back. Maybe hover around 25 ppg.
I think we take a bigger hit than that unless we add a true deep threat. Not sure that guy is on the roster now. It would help if our TEs morphed into serious threats but not sure that will happen either.

Without Watkins or a new comparable deep threat imo we will have only a possession passing game.

Nobody is worried our offense might get better?

If I was the NFL west, I would be worried about these young rams in their 2nd year.

Curious, do you think Everett is a bust? Do you think Higbee has hit his ceiling? Do you think Hemmingway is too injury prone to be counted on? If your answers are "yes", then we do need to find a tight end for McVay's offense. We might be able to choose from all three top TE prospects at #23. if we do not sign OBJ, would you pull the trigger on one of these TEs?

Then why would they contact the Giants about trading for him? They'd find a way to make space of course.
It was before Suh signed with the Rams. Probably a backup plan in case he didn't come here. But now that we signed him there's no way we can afford OBJ unless we cut some people. Which I don't see happening

Mcvay gave an interview yesterday saying that if they added Odell he'd get his targets . But we'll see. Could all be for nothing

I agree with those assessments with the exception of Everett, of course. I loved him coming out and think he has exceptional, raw talent, but he needs time to develop. I would love to pair him with a big-bodied TE for redzones two-TE sets.

You realize the Rams can't afford him right ?

Actually, they can.

It would mean that they have to get creative with the structure of the guarantees, but instead of a massive signing bonus this year, they can guarantee a huge roster bonus next year that becomes guaranteed the moment he signs.

AD isn't in a rush to see the money in his account, just to have it be guaranteed. And I expect his guaranteed money to be much higher than Von Miller's in part due to the funky structure.

Trust me when I say that AD is such a competitor and wants to win SO BADLY that I'm certain that he's discussed the possible options with his agent.

If he wanted all that money up front, Suh wouldn't be a Ram and Snead wouldn't have put the offer out there.

Trust me when I say that AD is on board with this because EVERYONE, even the media, understands that AD is gonna be first and get the Big piece of chicken. NO ONE's confused about that.

So, when I hear the Rams are trying to trade for OBJ who already lives in LA... you can rest assured they've already done the math and can work it out while keeping AD on board.

I feel your concern.

This is not the old Rams FO.

I likened the difference to a min-golf course. Before, getting FAs and making contracts work was like putting into that hole that was at the tip of a very steeply angled cone. If you didn't hit it just right... you're looking at a 6 and cursing. Now, we're putting on a hole where the cup is at the bottom of a bowl and it's almost impossible to miss if you don't do something super stupid.

I think OBJ comes to the Rams, although I don't expect anything to happen on that front until just before or maybe even during the draft if the Giants find someone has fallen that they really are in love with.

So we have about a month. But I actually think it will happen, barring the concerns I've brought up in other posts.

I don't want a reach in round 1. If they go BPA the chances of it being defense are very, very high.

Only offense types I think might be in play are OT Miller and TE Gesicki. Who, IMO, would both be reaches at 23.

In that case The Rams would try to trade back & maybe try to get one or both later in the draft.
