It was in fact quite the oppisite. Savard implied that Fisher would still be comfortable giving Pead the ball and Fisher responded with, "If Pead puts the ball on the ground again it won't be his fault it will be my fault for letting him carry the ball again."

It caught Savard and Farr off-guard and they both seemed surprised for fisher to have been so blunt about a player like that.

Roughly the 35:50 minute mark here:

This was a really good interview. I just have one question, Does anyone have a copy, of the photo of Kenny Britt have that drink with the Fan's after the game!? They said it's on tweeter!

Not that it necessarily helps my case (in fact it probably hurts it because most of you hate Bernie...I'm indifferent), but Bernie and his producer felt that Fisher was blasting Pead and basically saying he was done.

Wonder if Bradley Marquez could be utilized next week as a RB/WR in the short passing game area. Marquez sure has the look of having some youthful Anquan Boldin in him.

Marquez has earned some additional playing time opportunities after the first week.
Maybe.
It is great that he had a contribution at a key moment week 1 of his career.
Austin in the backfield....I always forget about him in the back field. Last week we pretty much got Cunningham/Austin, probably the same this week.

I knew I heard that somewhere. I couldn't find the link.

I think Fisher said on his radio show last night that he's going to give Pead the ball again. I'm hoping I heard that wrong since I couldn't rewind live radio.

maybe he will give him a ball signed by all the team members, then show him the exit door?

So he entered his 4th season---big deal! Does that automatically make him an experienced RB with respect to sheer carries? Even AP suffered from fumbling well into his career, at times turning over the ball in critical situations, and only his rush production kept him in a starting role. Besides, it's not really four seasons; it's effectively three seasons with the first two being extremely limited, and the third being postponed due to injury.

No NFL coach will put up with continued fumbling unless an RB's production makes it a worthwhile risk. However, you see most coaches putting up with RB's who has had limited carries . . . until they either adjust to NFL defenders, or the coach gives up on them entirely.

Any veteran NFL fan knows that fairly inexperienced players make mistakes, and coaches suffer through those, chalking them up to growing pains.

Hell, I didn't want Benny at times early on because he was dropping it too much for my taste. However, a RB can early learn to develop their handle through active carries via hostile opposition.

More spin, jap. Sorry...

Most decent RB's hit the ground running (pun intended) in their first season. ESPECIALLY when picked in the 2nd round.

The statute of limitations has run out on Pead's Ram career. He's been outplayed at RB by Mason, Cunningham, Stacy, Watts, and by Malcolm Brown in the preseason, IMO.

Marshall Faulk nailed it. Either a RB has it, or he doesn't. And it doesn't take years to know which it is, either.

Time to move on with Pead. Give his roster spot to another player that's needed and has earned it.

Could be. And I hope that's the case. I honestly think Pead might just have some of the worst luck ever. I mean he was actually covering that ball up pretty well after a solid run and the defender just made a great play. I feel for the kid.
Difficult part is that if a player coughs the ball up a couple times, the defense puts more effort toward stripping the ball. Until Pead goes a fairly long stretch without coughing up the ball, he is going to have to be extra careful with it and that likely curbs his running style. Pead lost the handle on the ball twice in either the last pre-season game or the Indy game - I don't recall which. Neither one cost us and I think he had already crossed the goal line on one of them, but to me it wasn't something you want to see and the coaches had to see it. Now with this fumble, and as much as I hate to say it because I had high hopes for Pead, I just don't know how you give him the rock unless you have a big lead and want to get him some confidence carries.

As to Fairly, his role is not likely to be a stat magnet type role on this D-line. C Long had one tackle and two assists - yet he was chasing all game long. I think you could count a couple of those sacks toward Wussell seeing him coming. So Fairly likely had influence on the game, just maybe not all that visible. I haven't watched the tape of the game yet but I'll look for him when I do. Funny thing is though, I've seen several live games where the camera is so keyed in on who is actually in on the tackle that it misses a lot of what is going on elsewhere that led to a stop. Maybe someone with the All 22 can chime in on that.

Have to agree here unfortunately. Hopefully the Washington game goes how we hope/think it may, and he can get a few second half carries in that one.
