I understand what they did and why they did it but you can't take the law into your own hands. That leads to more and more problems also violence has never solved violence.
I respectfully disagree. The institutions failed - they should have had this molesting POS locked up instead of letting him out on the streets. When institutions fail like that, people have no choice but to take the law into their own hands.
Strong institutions - no vigilante justice. Weak institutions - vigilante justice is the only justice.
As fare as the violence never solving violence, I think it solved it in this case pretty well, and it certainly solved violent ideologies like Naziism and Japanese Militarism.
