Before I do, tell me how many steps he should take on a 5 or 7 step drop.
And then show me a clip of a throw from another QB who meets the criteria you're laying out.

This will help me get what you're looking for, because I have a pretty significant amount of plays to sift through.
Life's too short to waste time on it . I think you know what I'm talking about , since you seem to be pretty knowledgeable on the game . Keenum is average at best which means 8-8 in my opinion and we have a kid waiting in the wings . What do they have to lose ?

So, again,
Throwing far is not a meaningful measure of arm strength. Many a high school QB can throw 50 yards. My son hasn't played football in 4 years and he can throw a football 60 yards, although he is a baseball pitcher.
That deep out is a standard measure of arm strength. The Rams don't much run it. The run shallow outs. More about timing than anything else. The pic 6 vs Buffalo was not a bad pass and was no late from what I could tell, the receiver was just covered. Too bad cause Gurley was by himself about 10 yards down field. Presnap read that the DB covered. Ok.
Big Ben is probably considered the most accurate deep ball guy. How many of his are rainbows thrown pretty early in the route that the WR runs under? Quite a few. That is about where the S is playing and seeing it, not arm strength. Being accurate is about foot work mostly. This is why Taylor struggles being accurate.
The replace Keenum calls are out in force....and would be if the Rams won or if they lost and he threw 3 TDs. I get it. The reality is vs Arizona an Buffalo he is the only reason the Rams are
Moving the ball. No idea if Goff would do better or not....no one knows that. He could play great or look like David Klingler out there. The next two games probably go a long way to determining what happens when.

I agree that they don't have anything to lose, but it would have taken you 5 minutes to find a video of what you were claiming.
It's fine though. I agree that Keenum has his limitations, but the hyperbole around here needs to be reigned in a little. He's not THAT feeble.

now this is a good throwing face...

You can make fun of Bradford is you like but he has a home in Minnesota. Working with a real OC. He has looked great. If he stays healthy he is poised to lead that team deep into the playoffs.
Not held back by a lame mismatched approach (St Louis, Philly) or health he has displayed his strengths.
Bradford getting MVP talk as Minnesota wins the NFC? Not outrageous at all.

I think what's bothering most of the fans myself included is the fact that they traded away so much to get a guy that can't beat out what they had . If Fisher liked Keenum so much , they should have stayed put in the draft and put more pieces in place around him . Right now it looks like a big mistake and that's hard to swallow

The best comparison I can think of with the Rams situation is Warner and Eli in New York.
Warner was playing solid, although committed some bad turnovers, but the team had a winning record. They put Eli and flushed the season.

Yeah, I get that.

But I think they knew beforehand he was gonna require some work to catch up with the mental aspect of the game. They knew all along he had the physical tools. It just became evident, quickly, that he needed time to let the mental catch up with the physical. And while they did like Keenum (a lot), they knew he wasn't the long-term answer. They just felt comfortable with the idea that he could keep them in games until such a time that Goff can come in and take games over. At least that's what I think the vision was.

Guess we'll see.

Because a guy who had never taken a snap under center ect wasn't ready, it looks like a mistake? Yikes.
As we all know QB is a unique position.
You trade up and draft a QB there for the next 10+ years, not the first 10 games.

What I also want to know about Goff, is what the hail are they doing about that scrawny body? He looks so fragile to me, no matter how talented that he is....

I agree the hyperbole needs to be reined in and I don't view Keenum as feeble. Honestly I will confess that I would start Keenum at Detroit if I was Fisher. This team going 4-2 is an absolute must!

My thing is.......... If the Rams lose at Detroit and fall to 3-3 because of another Feeble rezone performance combined with Keenum not playing well, that the would be the last straw for me.

Makes me so angry that they basically Gameplan for out routes all day cuz that's what we call. The one deep ball we took quick was wide open. Just because he missed doesn't mean let's stop takin shots?! Hell Tavon ran 10 quick outs, have him run an out and up and it's probably easy 6 with the way they were jumping outs

" we just kept going with our game plan. Sure enough, they still never threw the ball down field"
Nickell Roby-Coleman

Every fan, every forum, every analyst has been bemoaning Rams, or Keenums lack of down field threat. Every sane person knows this is a big reason why Todd Gurley is getting eaten alive...big reason not entire reason.

Now the opposing teams are publicly stating they don't even gameplay for any down field atuud, and we fail to take advantage of that.

Fisher has got to go. He is like a stubborn child, refusing to admit his way is no longer valid. All the offensive coordinators he has had, with all the football experience they had, I can't believe not one of them did not see this teams lack of a passing game as an issue. Not one of them said " hmmm spread the field, run the ball easier" or " hmm seems like everyone plays 8 up on us" no, it begins and ends with Fisher. He will never adapt, never evolve. For God sake, he even signed a qb to start who physically is unable to be effective down field, and passed up the more physically gifted prospect, the one who's run a offense that was run dominate and took snaps under center, and made reads, and opted for a guy with lesser physical tools, tools irrelevant to Fisher because he refuses to look past 10 yd outs.

Keenum ,in very SAFE FG range, on 3rd and 15 throws a pass 3 yds past the L.O.S. , and does so almost at the beginning g of his progressions. Did not increase our FG position relevantly at all, it was 1st HALF!! Not last 5 seconds. He did not want to throw deeper because he lacks the confidence, no ability to do this consistently. He has to put ALL he has into a throw to go anywhere near " deep" , which to is is basically 30 yd pass, and when he does reach down , and tear his soul muscling that huge 35 yd BOMB, he has no control, as he had to give up any chance of that to get the range.

Goff came across as a goofy, not confident, work. Did not show me any type of leadership qualities at HardKnocks. Just like before the draft with Marriuci at the chalkboard, I felt Wentz made Goff look like the kid in the team everyone took care of because they felt sorry for him. Personally, id live to see Mansion. Personally I think we are screwed no matter what, until Standard nuts up and cans Fisher

Good post but there are a few things:
It's kinda like being balls deep in a prostitute and then remembering that you should be using a condom. TOO Late!
It's kinda of the same thing with us drafting Wentz or Goff. While I was in the Wentz camp and continue to be a fan of his we have Goff and we stupidly haven't even given the dude a chance to criticize him yet. My suspicions were the same of how Wentz was and his abilities to Goff the same as yours but we have Goff now so let's see where this ship sails.

There is no arguing that Fisher is a complete stubborn a hole that would rather go down with the ship than change anything apparent. Boras as an O coordinator seems completely clueless and a Fisher goon that doesn't know his asshole from his elbow. I blame play calling more at fault than any short coming of Keenum and he does have some.

Do we really need to do this though?
That's really not what this board is all about, and I think you know this too.

The OP was correct before you guys got sidetracked on nitpicking Keenum's arm strength. It's the fact that Fisher and the Rams do not put an emphasis on that part of the game. When other teams (just as in the OP) are telling you publicly they know you can't and won't throw the ball downfield, then maybe it's something to address? We have seen this in how defenses play us all year.

And it wasn't Bradford, he looks like an all pro now that he has someone worthy of working in the NFL coaching him. Tired of hearing that excuse as well.

They didn't initially, but every week since week 1 has shown more and more deep throws.
They're in the top 10 of percentage of deep throws in the league right now (though, that may have changed +/- after this week).

Now if you wanna talk about whether or not opposing defenses respect the passing game enough to adjust, then that's a different story. They may remain comfortable enough with focusing on Gurley and staying in man coverage because it only means the occasional burn (which we've seen plenty of lately) - as opposed to letting Gurley get going and control the game. And we only nitpicked Keenum's arm strength because it was brought up in the most disparaging of ways. If he didn't want that nitpicked, then he should have made truthful claims. Like the one I just made.
