Nice little retrospective. As Pearlman points out, Ferragamo's image and looks, and the hopes of what people wanted him to be, probably weren't what the reality was. Yeah, Hollywood.

For those that don't know, Jeff Pearlman is an actual professional writer and not just one of those semi-sentient content creators that seem popular among some fans.
Yeah my wife, who I did not know at the time and grew up an Eagles fan, told me she was a big Ferragamo fan due to his looks. So she apparently had her jinxing powers way back then as a middle schooler since his career went in the toilet.

I’m biased I disliked Haden so much Ferragamo was godlike to me plus the pass to Waddy in Dallas that was a dime not a duck.
Yeah… I was oddly a Haden fan. I liked Vinny. He could throw. But for some reason I recall a bunch of wobblers and not many tight spirals. Blade had himself an arm though.

I remember quite a few ropes by Ferragamo go back and look at that 1980 season. However, the 1983 season, you are remembering that playoff game in Dallas and a few wobblers to TE David Hill. Overall, both Everett and Ferragamo had great arms, but I will always give Vince the edge because......Wait for it, wait for it, he is Italian. There!

That made me want to re-watch, "Heaven Can Wait" with Warren Beatty. And now that I know that the movie is intertwined with the mythology of Ferragamo, I am excited to see it again.

I love Jeff Pearlman grew up in Mahopac, NY and talked about the harsh winters and why rooting for the Dodgers, Rams & Lakers took him away from those winters. That was the case for me too, so I can relate. The title of the video is deceiving, but the rest of it is on point and I enjoyed it.

Ok Rams fans - all this Ferragamo talk's got me debating - which Ram Quarterback threw the best deep ball?

A) Vince Ferragamo
B) Jim Everett
C) Kurt Warner
D) Matt Stafford
E) Tony Banks
James Harris

He wasn't the most accurate of QB's, but he had an arm

James Harris

He wasn't very accurate, but he had an arm
Problem with Harris was he tended to shrink in post season. In 1974, he did not play well against the Redskins and was decent against the Vikings, his best start in post season. In 1975, he did not start against the Cardinals as Jaworski played well, but they went back to Harris against the Cowboys and he was a disaster.

Now IMO, they limited Harris not giving him the ability to audible, but Harris against Dallas in the regular season or post season was just not good. First game of the year in 1975 was at Dallas and Rams lost 18-7 with Jaworski replacing Harris, then the disaster in the NFC Championship game.

Harris had tunnel vision for sure, but he still had one of strongest arms back in the 70's and if someone was wide open he would get the ball to the WR.

I think if he had played a few more full seasons to learn coverages a bit better he could have been a very good QB.

Part of the issue with Harris was although Chuck Knox and the Rams gave him the opportunity, owner Carroll Rosenbloom, who back then was like Jerry Jones (but better talent evaluator, however, owner/team president) felt that race should not be an issue at QB and he liked Pat Haden better.

CR was a great owner, but his feeling for Haden was hard to understand, but he said that playing QB in the NFL was hard enough, you should not have to answer questions about race when it comes to that.

That had to be uncomfortable for Harris.

As for Carroll Rosenbloom that comment was just a way for him to say he didn't want a black starting QB. That dude was publicly racially biased. .... My pops couldn't stand Carroll Rosenbloom, and he explained to me why..... I'll just leave it at that.

Vince was money 40-50yds. The throw to Waddy was an ultimate Rams moment.

Win a playoff game, against the Cowboys and send Roger Staubach off into retirement...

CR acted as GM. He brought Harris in. Was he looking to turn him into a receiver?

You make a claim about our former owner and then say “I’ll just leave it at that”? BS.

You try to make claims that Stan is a cheap owner. Also BS

Back it up or don’t say it.
