I saw all of the interior including Dedich pushed back often yesterday. The backs usually had success to the outside or cutting back.
Could be.
I will rewatch it. Overall (obviously at this point) Ive been impressed with Dedich over all. Getting pushed back is different than whiffing, which Avila was doing against the Texans. Unfortunately he was injured so early on....maybe he would have settled in.
You're right about offsetting their size and strength inside by getting outside and creating seems for the RBs.
There were some runs with the RBs creating on their own too. Williams may not break 60 yard runs but he is so adept and making a guy missing and turning a zero run into a 3 or 4 yard gain.
There was some good work on inside runs however too.
Both Dotson and Dedich had some good physical run blocks on inside runs and Shelton did his shielding block thing to affect.
There was a lot of good work up front in the run game in my opinion.....both inside and outside, but, more outside I agree and both backs looked really good. The pass blocking was the issue all across the board really.
Jackson has been very solid at LT, especially considering his missed time. He generally has a good recovery where he looks beat on first step and recovers.

I was really ticked off on Williams doing the exaggerated push off on the TD pass.

He had a good chance to intercept the pass if he went after the ball instead of faking being pushed off.
That seemed like amateur hour to me too.
He seemed to be in a spot to defend the pass at least. Maybe it didn't see the ball and thought he was beat....I don't know, but, he has no future as an actor. Vlade Divac thinks that was bad flop.

I've been at Rams fan for a long long time and this is one of the most disappointing defeats I've ever seen because we beat ourselves.
Two blocked field goals is outrageous.
McVay letting off the gas at the end of the first half is outrageous.
Those pass interference non-calls at the end of the game were outrageous.

I damn well hope McVay learned from this.

I think at this point those decisions are on Stafford. he has the ball. he needs to spread it around. maybe he needs a better oline to do that. and sometimes he's just off.
Stafford has always been a little hot and cold it seems to me.

1- McVay just continues to make the same mistakes. He gets too "cute" - Why in hell did he go deep to Adams on a 3rd and 2 late in the game? At that stage "moving the chains" and taking time off the clock is key. Just a bad decision. That's just low percentage and "bad coaching" that you won't see from the great NFL coaches. Not saying he's a "bad" coach but he makes the same mistakes over and over such as burning TOs early that could be needed late in games.

2- Painfully obvious we don't have a reliable 3rd receiver option. Why the hell did we draft TE Ferguson then? If he is so athletic and fast as it's been said- Damn it give the kid a chance!! It's obvious Higbee isn't the answer nor is Whittington.

3- Is it time to make a huge trade since LA seems to be in "Win Now" mode? We have 2 first round picks next year so lets trade for a real CB who can cover the likes of AJ Brown and other big receivers. Brown scorched our secondary last night and there was no one who could cover him. And yes he did Push off on the TD but so did Davante on his TD. Just being honest here. While we're add it lets see if we can trade for a 3rd WR since Whittington isn't the answer. We need a 3rd option and simply don't have it on offense.

4- Special teams SUCKED. How did the Eagles block 2 FGs especially the one that should have won us the game? SMH

Before the final FG attempt I was surprised by how calm I was and how slow I was breathing. I was at peace with a make or miss. But the 2nd block there was totally unexpected. I have no opinion on the cause of the blocks but Luke Willson was adamant that Karty should have elevated more on both. Regardless of the cause, the problem must get corrected ASAP.

At 26-7 I felt the Rams defense went soft, instead of staying aggressive. Reminds me of hockey games where one team is up 2-0 in the 3rd period and then just sits back and plays it safe. Often quickly becomes 2-2.

Switching to a baseball analogy, Stafford was like the ace starting pitcher who doesn't walk many hitters but had a bad day and walked the bases loaded. Plain old accuracy issues on the some seemingly easy throws. Loved the last drive to set up the game-winning FG though.

2nd time in 3 games the TE group was invisible. I wish we'd use these guys in the end zone more. They are 6ft 6in for a reason.

Finally had a good balance for Kyren and Blake.

I will never get tired of seeing Verse's hit on Hurts that forced the fumble.

Mentally I think we will have no trouble flushing this game and moving forward. Although I can't speak for what goes on in Mr. Karty's cranium!

We couldn’t just lose, no. We had to lose in some embarrassingly comical fashion. These eagles games are a bit personal to me in a way that I can’t explain or expect people to understand. But this one really really hurt me.
This is a great way to summarize how I feel. I also cannot exactly explain it, but it feels eerily familiar to that 9er dominance recently that no matter what we'd do, they'd figure out a way to beat us or we'd beat ourselves.

The good news is we broke out of that and turned it around when it came to playoffs against the Whiners. Maybe that's next for Philly? One can only hope.

And lastly... we are all beating up on Limmer, and for good reason... but Darious Williams didn't deserve to be out there either. Don't know what happened to him this year but he looks terrible.
I think Williams is okay. Not great, just okay.

They just decided to say F it and throw it to the best player on their team even when covered, which was the right decision. No CB we have can cover AJ Brown when they decide to throw it to him. Grown man against smurfs.

When they went up 26-7 the confidence was overflowing. Philly cut right thru the Rams D in 5 plays like it was nothing.
Went from a blowout to a ball game in 1 minute

obviously the Rams could do much worse at the head coach position, that being said he makes some head scratching play calls in the redzone. He has always done it and seems to not learn from the poor play calling. Trying the deep ball to Adams on 3rd and 2 late in the game was greedy on his part. I dont understand.. i guess thats why im just a fan.

I'll also add that McVay/Snead seem to have an issue addressing weaknesses at times until its past painfully obvious for whatever unknown reason. Many of us were asking for DB help yet nothing came. They said they were confident in our secondary. That's the part of defense that is lacking. Not saying we could have found it or didn't try, but maybe we should have tried to have gone after a CB1 type player or one that has good physical attributes? AJ Brown single handled tossed our CBs aside like lil bitches. It was frustrating to watch.

Man I wonder if there was a CB in the draft that could have helped us in that department immediately? Oh yeah, that's right, Will Johnson was sitting there for the taking when McVay was allowed to get cute again and take a offensive weapon that is not contributing to us winning the superbowl. Reminds me of another 2nd round weapon pick....

One of the things that bothers me most... is that take everything else away from the game.. when it was time to make winning plays, the Eagles did and the Rams didn't. That's damning, imo.

CB is a massive need. We could really use a true CB1 who can travel with and eliminate draws. And it would sort the rest of our dudes into roles that are more fitting to what they are. None of our boys can take a top matchup.

Blowing a game we had in hand is disappointing to say the least. But I have a feeling Eagle fans do not want to see the Rams in the playoffs.
I have a feeling the Rams don't want to see zebra's in the play-offs.....

Yeah, its hard enough to beat defending champs as it is. But now we're dealing with refs. Eagles are the new Chiefs when it comes to reffing. If refs refuse to call false starts on the tush push I don't see anyone beating them. My guess is either the tush push is outlawed next season or they make it so false starts are reviewable since the refs claim its too hard to see it in real time.

I cant exactly blame our DB's on yesterday's loss. Our cb1 in Witherspoon is out, and could have easily covered Brown, and has. Covering wasnt exactly the problem until the 2nd half. Brown had 0 reception the entire first half. Problem was our Defensive front seemed to be running in quick sand throughout the second half and Shula clearly switched the game plan to soft zone. Doesn't help that our offense, while it stayed on the field to give the D some rest, were only converting FG's. It was only a matter of time before momentum switched, and when that happened, McVay called some ridiculous 3rd and shorts which flipped the field. Not to mention a failure at 4th and short.
