Is it just me or are there more promising very young QBs in the league than ever before?

It used to be so much harder to find a guy.

Is this how things are now, with NFL teams finally understanding how to incorporate spread QBs or is this a flash in the pan and the byproduct of over-the-top hype and expectations for young QBs in the wake left by Mahomes?

Coaches now more than ever are willing to run the offense out of the gun/spread with some snaps under center sprinkled in.

Not sure, I mean at one point Wentz, Goff, Winston and Mariota were looking like promising young QB, then they werent any more...

That’s the Rub of the NFL. I look at Tannehill is a great example of moving on and up. Goff & Wentz may still have a shot, IMO

Goff is a better than average QB and under McVay showed he's capable of getting a team into the playoffs. But it comes with the caveat that all QBs come with. What is overlooked is not just the QB talent but the scheme fit. McVay's system is for a vet QB who can make his throwing decision most of the time before the snap by the expected coverage he reads. Goff was never really tutored to be that type of QB. McVay read the D and told him what to expect which is why he was held in the huddle on a lot of plays until the last 15 seconds. When the D changed Goff was screwed. When he tried to make reads he simply didn't have the time to do so because he got to the LOS too late to make those kinds of reads and adjustments. Now with Stafford, the Rams have a QB who reads defenses better than the HC. McVay just has to call plays.

Goff simply wasn't a good fit for this HC and his scheme. Stafford on the other hand is the perfect QB for McVay and his scheme. This is why I believe Stafford is the missing piece to the Ram's Lombardi quest. I think there is a good chance Goff goes on to have a good career, but the Rams are in a win now mode and will be for the foreseeable future. McVay and Stafford are a very good fit between a HC and QB. With the talent on both sides of the ball that the Ram's have the odds look good for the Rams to take it all.

There is no way Murray, Prescott, or Borrows are better than Stafford.

I don’t see how anyone can be that blind and get something published.

If he stays healthy, in this offense you’re looking at 5000+ and 30+ TDs in a 17 game season. There just aren’t many guys topping that in 2021.

The list seems more serious than most out there, as always there are many I disagree with.

But:
Has Dak ever been a top 5 QB in the league?
Not for me.
And he is coming off a major injury.
Some things are just head scratchers.

I watched Tannehill in the playoffs and he did not show anything more than an average QB to me.

When he had time and the running game was going, he could do good things. But nothing out of the ordinary.

That happens to a lot of QBs. I’m just saying he was about DOA when he got to Tennessee. He showed given the right opportunity he can at a high level.

I am just not that impressed with Tannehill.

Without that running back, I would say he was an average QB at best.

I respect the hell out of Wilson but he is not a QB that I would prefer over Stafford. I want a guy who can deal from the pocket as a preference. As great as Wilson is the way to beat him is contain him in the pocket.

From that perspective Mahomes, Rodgers, and Allen are all clearly superior to him. But if things go like I think they will this season Stafford will be a clear top 5 guy in this offense and the Rams will get it done.

I’m just going to say this first off.Jared Goff is still one heck of a QB & The Rams did well with Jared Goff. What his future is anyone’s guess??

The Best Truth is Matthew Stafford is coming into his Prime if recent History Proves anything.Actually not going to get to DEEP into this NFL QB debate right now.I think The Rams Scored Big Time & the Price was not cheap.

It will be interesting in 2021 , how things playout.I like The Rams as a Team & Mcvay saw a chance to UpGrade The QB position which should be total connection(link) from the coach to player on game days.

Really curious to see how creative Matthew Stafford can get after a play breaks down.Looking back in Rams History & there not very many good examples of QB’s I can recall of hands ?

I like this subject about NFL QB’s. In 2020 we saw a whole Era retire & of all players “Tom Brady” seeing winning it ALL with a New Team after how many seasons? Big Ben is just about done.

Big Ben is done after this season. The Rams will get a look at ex Steelers QB during the preseason. Which should be cool.

I’m a fan of Tua myself. He was struggling with his injury last year, but given the talent around him, I think he could dominate. And with Allen in Buffalo, and a great young quarterback in Zach Wilson in New York (in a non-Lawrence draft, he’d have gone #1), I look for the Cheatriots to settle in their long awaited trip to the basement.
I have an uneasy feeling that the pats will be more like the pats we love to hate this year. The patriot way seems to be play great defense and make a play to win the game late, I don’t know if Cam is a guy who can do that anymore and what’s worse is he was the guy making the mistake that let the other team win. The rest of the team will be better though so maybe Cam is a game manager or maybe his shoulder improves another year out from surgery.
But nobody is picking them to go to the conference championship like seemingly every year of the dynasty which is a good thing.

I can see them bouncing back, too. Yep.

It wouldn‘t surprise me if Mac Jones becomes ”a story” this year at some point.

My problem with this article is it's inconsistency. He seems to bounce from the true talent of the QB over his surroundings (Watson) to elevating the QB because he now has better weapons or protection. I can't really figure his methodology. He's not giving a list of who will have the best stats at the end of the season. He's not saying which QB is best regardless of the team around him. Its not a list compiled by the QB's body of NFL performance. It's not even a list of who is set up to succeed based on the situation. It's just an amalgamation of all these possibilities in an inconsistent manner. The one good thing I will say is that he at least supports his arguments for each QB. I just wish he used the same process of determining a slot equitably with each one.
