I'm not sure the team needed any clues.
Going into this season, I thought they needed 4 O-linemen, new tight ends, 2 ILB's, maybe a running back, and a ton of special teams turnover.
Going into next season, I think they need 4 O-linemen, new tight ends, 2 ILB's, and a ton of special teams turnover.
There was never any great mystery here. They were super aggressive trying to get a Super Bowl before moving into SoFi so they could drive season ticket sales (still haven't sold out of those, btw, buddy of mine gets emailed about once a month asking if he wants to buy some), gave up a metric ton of draft capital in overpaying and taking the wrong side of trades, were handing out extensions like candy years before they had to, and ended up not only blowing the team up a bit, but leaving gaping holes all over the team because of how much they surrendered for a couple of big names (which usually didn't pan out). Had McVay not gotten into his own head trying to figure out how to prove he was smarter than Belichek, it would have worked. Now there's a mess to clean up and not a lot of ways to do it.
Hopefully they focus on the right things with what little draft capital they do have - and then, of course, their darts thrown at the wall continue to pan out for them.
