I should put this disclaimer in first though. I didn't see the game yet. I'm just going off of box scores, recaps, and general comments about what happened. Seems to me we blew a few opportunities to get off the field, and a couple of other miscues actually gave away points.

I'll wait for others to give me the low-down before I see the game.

you pretty much summed it up. Our d played way to soft when it mattered most. Sam threw a screen to drich and drich tipped it into a pick 6. And our offense played vanilla again for the first half.

For the most part, I agree X. When this team learns to cut down on the penalties we will see marked imrovement.
The two INT's are pretty freak really. I mean both pick 6? Just doesn't happen that often.

But I think the largest glaring issue is the pass defense is much worse (so far) than anyone expected.
And I'm also not giving up on our RB's yet, but unless Pead ends up playing up to his talent, I think that is an area we need to address next year (draft/FA). I just don't see a dynamic, playmaking stud to fear.

We made the Arizona game much harder than it had to be and this game got out of hand real quick early. Had we not dug such a hole for ourselves we could of won. But should of, could of..

Never been more proud after a loss. Tighten this shit up and start fucking up the league. Go.

Yep.

Penalties. Dropped balls. Coverage was WAY too soft. Did anyone mention to the Rams they should cover Jones because he's kind of good?

Some bad play calling and clock management.

If they play the whole game the way they played the second half - easy win.

To be honest. The cards win has me pumped, They destroyed MIN who was seconds away from beating the 2-0 Bears.
The Cards smothered them and there high power Offense. We're good to go. But we need to beat Dallas in the worse way.

Agreed fully.

I wouldn't go that far. The defense needs to play better. Running game needs some work. I'd look at it this way. They hung in there with a team many think is a Super Bowl contender, and that's after stinking up the joint in the first half. They're 1-1, have a winnable game against Dallas next week, and can play a LOT better. If they get the problem areas cleaned up they're going to cause a lot of problems for teams this year.

We played like a young very talented team and FWIW Sam under threw two sure TDs.

The answer, the medical team, injuries is all that will keep these guys out of the playoffs, they took a big step today not quite big enough but IMA say if we'd played these guys in our house we'd have beaten them worse than Nawlins did.

every other team going to beat us if we keep using that 2nd down and 9 draw play

just don't understand why we dont run the hurry up offense more

SPECIAL TEAMS PENALTIES!!!!!! I was at the game and every single time our d would get a stop they would punt and we would get either a holding penalty or a illegal block in the back pinning us inside our own 15 a couple times inside our own 5-10 :-( and I kept saying all day stop playing so far off the receivers and give our d-line a chance to get there. Matt Ryan would get rid of the ball in 1.5 seconds cause we were playing so far off the receivers so Quinn and co had no chance to apply pressure!

I was so irritated at the first half play of the Rams. They couldn't do anything right. Second half was different tune, and even we lost I am ok with it. They showed me they had resilience against an elite team on their home field.

If they stop with the stupid penalties, and freak plays that end up six points the other way we would be ok the rest of the way. The only thing that's killing me this past two weeks is the soft coverage our DB's are giving the opposing WR's. I know our DB's are good at press coverage, and it would give the D-line more time to get to the QB.

Next week should be interesting, because Romo usually carves up the Rams in recent meetings. Hopefully they can contain him in the pocket and don't make him escape to the right because that's when he usually throws for big gains.

I think many of you are over looking a simple fact. At half time, Atlanta led 24-3 and seemed to be well in control. Often (and this seems to occur frequently these days in the case of the Falcons) once they build a lead, the team tends to back off a bit. It's not unusual, especially early in the season where players "tend" to play more conservatively after having a strong lead in order to conserve themselves and hopefully avoid injury.

I'm not taking anything away from Bradford and company, they kept it "respectable" and for that I'm grateful. It's just that the game was essentially in hand and when the Rams began to close, the Falcons scored again when they needed it. Honestly, there never was a point where I thought the Rams would pull it out.....that's just the way it is when you play a top 3 team in the NFC, especially in their house.

This was a good game to measure the Rams progress. Hopefully, they learn from the experience and continue to improve throughout the season. There's no reason for fans to get down on this team, it was disappointing to see so many ROD fans lose perspective, especially in the first half. It was almost like many folks failed to understand where this team is in its development.

It's been said repeatedly, but I guess it needs reinforcement.....

1. This is an extremely young team and young teams make mistakes, especially on the road.

2. This is the second year of a complete rebuild, most rebuilds take 5 years to be "consistently" competitive.

3. This team will continue to grow at a rapid pace.

4. The Rams are in the toughest division in the NFL.

5. Although there is a solid base of players on this team, a number of holes exist that will not be filled this season.

6. Focus on the successes and growth and have patience as this organization comes together.

7. We really don't want to play football in an open stadium in February anyway....at least not this season. :neh: :what:

D has to be tougher early, tips, eh, shit happens. All in all, offense is to vanilla @ start and D is laying back. This in on both offfensive and defensive coordinators

That's a point Train.

Here's another, "maybe" the soft D and vanilla O are for a good reasons. Already discussed is the philosophy that with a young backfield, it's better to keep plays in front them and make the opponent grind it out and hopefully turn the ball over in the process. Same goes for the "O", the receivers and RB's are young and still learning to execute with precision and confidence.

Heck a few players are still trying to adjust to the pro game speed and pace. I find it impossible to even think that this coaching staff isn't completely on top of this whole deal. I think this is all a tempest in a tea pot...this team is what it is, YOUNG, GREEN and GROWING. Top tier teams take time to develop, jell and execute consistently, we're through game 18 in this process, are we really all that surprised about what we're seeing? :domg:
