I used to run, like a lot. And for most of my years I abhorred the idea of listening to music while running, even on 2-3 hour long runs.
One day it hit me, while listening to this song for the millionth time, it had always been my "go to" car ride song when I needed to chillax a bit. I thought, "How cool would it be, to listen to this on a morning run when the sun was coming up?"
And the rest is history.

Damn it man. You just gave me a flashback.

I dated a girl on and off for years. She wanted to be permanent but I just wasn't ready for that. I'd break up with her and she'd hit me up out of the blue and we'd get together for a while or for just a booty call... but she wouldn't give up. This went on for years. She had a normal job when we first met...

Time goes by and I meet some friends at a titty bar here in O-Town. We're having a normal good time... then guess who happens to stroll out on the stage. My friends didn't know her. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. BUT... she was even more shocked when she finally saw me. I didn't say anything to my friends about her. Oh... and just to tie in the Crue to this... she pretty much only danced to their songs.

You should have seen my friends' faces when this little Czech blond ran off stage and proceeded to damn near rape me at our table without saying anything to me. It was so over the top that the club manager came running over because he didn't want to get in trouble with code for the scene that was being made. Horny dudes in this club were going to think that this place was a whore house. She got in trouble but she told the manager she would just quit if he didn't like it. I looked like some kind of Mob Kingpin or something and my friends still didn't know what the fuck was happening. Needless to say, it was fucking very cool for me.

Anyway... after that, she always sent me any new Crue album in the mail whenever they put one out. She'd mail em anonymously to my house. She still to this day will call my office out of the blue trying to hook back up.

So Motley Crue has a place burned into my skull that will never go away.
So did she boil any aquarium pet fish?

In 1971 my girlfriend Randi and I went to the Hong Kong Bar in Century City for drinks after my birthday dinner. She was a jazz guitarist and wanted to see a particular performer there. She loved Ramsey Lewis so we went to see him there. Among the selections he played was Wade in the Water. I listened to Randi's music and enjoyed it. But when we went there as watched that performance something clicked and I became hooked on what is now called Smooth Jazz. As I've become older I listen to that genre more and more, especially while on the computer. Whenever I play that selection, I remember that night which probably ranks among the best dates I've ever had. She was killed by a drunk driver a few months later. To this day I will not drive if I've had even one beer. No one drives home if they drink at our fiestas or parties.

So here is Ramsey Lewis:

The Smiths led me to alternative with this:

I can't remember the exact songs that led me to country(probably Johnny Cash), hard rock(probably Ozzy), or anything else. I remember these songs specifically though.

Vivaldi is great, good choice. My preference is Winter as I like the speed and technique:

If there was ever an inspiration for metal it would be ludwig Von. Moonlight sonata third movement is evidence he was the first headbanger:

I believe this is close to how he actually envisioned the music to be composed:

once I graduated from college and started working, I would listen to a lot of music. So I got a Columbia House subscription and started buying all kinds of different stuff because I was bored with the same 60’s-70’s stuff that I had.

I ordered the bigger names but it broadened my musical pallet.

I will give anything a chance because I found that good songs grow on you.

That being said: my buddy got me listening to Johnny Cash. It turns out that I really liked Johnny Cash. But in general, country music is not my bag. Neither is modern rap.
