Respect your opinion .... what I don't get is how fits in the system. Both McVay and Snead, 2 or 3 off seasons ago, said they were going to build a WALL for Stafford so that he would not face any more interior pressure. They signed K Dotson and drafted S Avila. The Center is average size, but the plan worked. They also changed up the running scheme to accommodate it. How a 5'11", 280 lbs Interior lineman fits that scheme I do not know.
Strikes me as the kind of signing a team does because they really respect the player....how he plays and his technical skill.....but, he doesn't really have a position. Could be one of those guys with tremendous skill but physical limitation that prevent him from find a position and he kind of hangs around practice squads for half a decade.

Ty Nsekhe.....he was actually pretty solid when he played.
Had to look it up. Tyron Smith is who I was talking about. He's 34 and has always had good feet. I'm sure he could sit on the bench and be a worst case scenario for us that at least could allow Stafford to not sweat his blindside in the first 2 seconds.

Full list as of Monday--with my comments on a couple of them.

Right now, I'm extremely excited about this UDFA group! I think at least three of them will make the final team roster--53-man roster: Dolac, Lampkins, and one other--maybe Terry or Norton. About 3-5 others should end up on the Practice Squad, so yes, I'm saying up to eight of these guys could "make the team."

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – The Los Angeles Rams on Monday agreed to terms with 17 undrafted free agents.

Those players are:

  • Utah State OL Wyatt Bowles
    • 6-5; 300
    • Seems to have a great attitude
    • Before the draft, he said he wanted to be one of the 2% who make it.
    • He was rated #23 Aggie for 2025 before the season started, so a late bloomer
    • Radio chat on him:
      View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1T9Ewf7D8o
  • Connecticut S Malik Dixon-Williams
  • Buffalo ILB Shaun Dolac
    • This guy will make the team!
    • Small but fast and great athlete--incredible body control
    • 6-2 and 220
    • A tackling machine who makes some of the most amazing interceptions you'll ever see--astounding for a linebacker

    • View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4qNnINe_L4
    • I think he can start down the road
  • Boise State OL Ben Dooley
  • Louisiana Tech WR Tru Edwards
  • North Carolina OL Willie Lampkin
This guy has a great chance to make the team!
He's a great player who was ignored due to his small size and mediocre testing
I think he can start at C down the road--maybe even guard
Had a great Senior Bowl week
  • USC OLB Jamil Muhammad
    • Great junior year
    • Terrible senior year
    • Both body type and play style seem like the Rams' 3rd-round pick, Josaiah Stewart
    • 6-1, 260
    • This guy has a chance, but why did he have only one sack last year?
    • "Jamil Muhammad played in all 26 USC games the past two season. He racked up 73 total tackles and 7.5 sacks. Muhhmanad played more defensive end end in 2024 compared to linebacker in 2023. Numbers wise, Muhammad had a drop off in this season. He was tied for 11th on the Trojans defense in total combined tackles, and only ended top with one sack on the year. In 2023, he finished seventh on the team in total tackles with 46 and led the team in sacks with 6.5. "
  • University of Texas DL Bill Norton
    • Huge: 6-6 and 335
    • He definitely has a chance to make it. In his case, maybe he needs to slim down to be more mobile
    • I read that he's a penetrating lineman, but he only had one sack in his career
    • "After the 2023 college football season, Norton transferred to the Texas Longhorns. The 6-foot-6, 335-pound defensive lineman recorded 14 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble for the Longhorns this season. Norton had just one sack in his college career, but he recorded it in the College Football Playoff."
    • Seems to be a huge body that can stuff the middle at nose tackle
    • Originally played at Georgia
    • Georgia head coach Kirby Smart raved about him
    • "What a great kid man, this guy worked his tail off here and worked really hard," Smart said. "One of his key roles was with special teams, he played on our field goal protection unit and was the best at doing it."
  • Rice OLB Josh Pearcy
  • Oklahoma State WR Brennan Presley
  • Louisville TE Mark Redman
    • 6-5, 255
    • Been a starter for at least three year
    • He's a huge guy known for his blocking but can catch the ball
    • I could see him making the team--vanilla, but a much cheaper Parkinson
    • 24 catches for 256 yards and 3 TDs

    • View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb5VcA1ZLLw
  • Oklahoma DL Da'Jon Terry
    • 6-3, 330
    • This guy could make the team!
    • He's huge and has nice agility--very good lateral movement, too
    • Rams seem to be going very big on the DL--wise after they got pushed around in the trenches last season
    • #95 on the video below

    • View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_Y7pn34bDs
  • Toledo TE Anthony Torres
  • Northern Illinois S Nate Valcarcel
    • 6-1, 192
    • Couldn't find much on him
  • NC State RB Jordan Waters
  • Indiana OL Trey Wedig
  • Tulane WR Mario Williams

From Rams official website: https://www.therams.com/news/rams-agree-to-terms-with-17-undrafted-free-agents-2025

I had some thoughts on 1 or 2 that you think could make the team...
- Bill Norton ... He has never played as a starter ; never played starter snaps or minutes. He only played 240 snaps @ Texas last season, and a total of 790 total over 5 seasons @ Georgia, Ariz. & Texas. His PFF grade for last season was 62 which about average. I'm not sure he has the experience to carve out a roll as a back Nose tackle.
- Willie Lampkin .... I did see that he competed very weel at the Senior Bowl. However, I don't see how he fits the Rams scheme. Snead & McVay made a decision 2 or 3 seasons ago to build a "wall" to protect Stafford from interior pressure. They added Dotson and Avila , along with an average size Center to accomplish that, along with changing the run scheme to more a p ower, duo scheme. I don't see how a 5'11", 280 lb interior lineman fits in that scheme.
- In my opinion, OL Ben Dooley from Boise St, may have the best chance to make the squad of the OL. He's 6'5, 320 lbs, has experience playing all along the line. Has been a starter for a few seasons and his overall PFF grade was 72 ; above average.

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to put this together. It was very informative.

Ah gotcha.
Whoever it is, just tell that back up LT, if the guy is past you, just hold like hell and take the flag.

Tyron Smith might be in the Hall of Fame one day but his playing career is almost certainly over.
I believe he signed a one-day contract with Dallas last month, so that he could retire as a Cowboy.

Joseph Noteboom was more durable over the past five seasons.
That's not a joke. Smith only played 40 games between 2020-2024. Even Noteboom played more.

Thanks 8to12! It did take a while to put it together, but I figure I owed it to the fans here--since I'm new, I had to do something, right?

Re Dooley, after posting, I read somewhere in this thread that he could've gone in Round 6, but he told teams not to draft him late, so he could choose where to go. If true, he is more like a R6 player than a UDFA! That means that he's probably going to make the team.

Re Lampkin, all NFL teams also thought he was too small to play in the NFL, so you're in good company. Actually, the fact that he signed with the Rams might just mean that they gave him assurances that he'd have a real shot. He easily could've gone elsewhere if he didn't think the Rams had the right scheme. Also, I see that Coleman Shelton, the past and future starter at center is listed at 285 at the Rams official website, and Lampkin is listed by the Rams on the same page as 5-11 290! I think the Rams got humbled a bit last season when they tried to add beef by putting 330-lb Avila at center. Maybe it really is a position that requires huge brain power--more than brawn. Of course, when McVay brought in Mike Munchak, I think he signaled that they wanted to get bigger, as you said.

Re Norton, I'm sure you're right, but the raves he got from Kirby Smith and the raves he got from one of the Texas coaches (after signing there) convinced me that he has a chance. His production is near zero, but at nose guard, that's not too bad. He's huge, and if he can occupy blockers and not get blown off the line, he could help!

Anyway, I think we mostly agree. The next step is camp--the Rams, including McVay, will lie through their teeth, desperately trying to avoid praising ANYONE on the bubble (so they can sneak them on the Practice Squad if needed). That means that if any of these UDFAs gets major praise--leaked by other players or a coach--it probably means that McVay is planning to have a spot for that guy.

You don’t think Wedig has a shot, or Dolac?

Wedig also has the size and length required to play in the league. I think he could be groomed as Big Rob’s backup, if he can add strength and polish his technique a little.

Wedig and Dolac were the two highest paid UDFA’s for the Rams. I don’t know if that means the Rams liked them the most among the group or had more competition from other teams to sign them. But, that may indicate initial value.

Wedig is interesting as you are correct needing to add strength as he only did 17 reps on the bench press, but graded out well in other areas. Seems to have good feet, however, KT Leveston will get every opportunity IMO to be the first OT off the bench because he does have experience playing LT, but Wedig does offer some upside and he held up well against Jack Sawyer when Indiana played Ohio State.

Wedig's prob is he's a RT projection, so his need to improve his strength feels doubly important. But I agree his tape is not bad.

Overall as I sort through these UDFAs it seems like a really strong class. Good chance the Rams will find some role players at the least for teams and depth chart.

We're going to need a QB for preseason games to go along with Bennett.

There's q pretty decent list of UDFA QbS out there who haven't signed plus some UFL options.

One thing to know about each of the Rams' 17 undrafted free agents for 2025

Cameron DaSilva
Rams Wire

Not every prospect gets drafted. Some have to make a name for themselves as undrafted free agents.

The Los Angeles Rams got key contributions from undrafted rookies last year, with Jaylen McCollough and Omar Speights both playing significant roles on defense. After the draft this year, the Rams agreed to deals with 17 undrafted rookies, giving them a shot to make the 53-man roster this offseason.

Here's one thing to know about each of the 17 undrafted rookies fighting for a roster spot in 2025.

RB Jordan Waters, NC State

He scored the 3rd-most rushing TDs in Duke history

NFL DRAFT GRADES: Recap all NFL Draft picks, grades and analysis for all 32 teams.
Waters spent five years at Duke before transferring to NC State in 2024 and he was productive for the Blue Devils. With 12 rushing touchdowns in his final season at Duke, he finished his Blue Devils career with 23, the third-most in school history. He also had 1,690 yards rushing on 333 carries at Duke.

WR Brennan Presley, Oklahoma State

He has the 14th-most receptions in Division I history

The 5-foot-8 Presley was a standout player at Oklahoma State, spending five years with the Cowboys. In his career, he caught 315 passes for 3,315 yards and 23 touchdowns, finishing as the school's all-time leader in career catches. It's the second-most ever in the Big 12 and he ranks 14th in Division I history. Presley was also a two-time team captain for the Cowboys.

WR Mario Williams, Tulane

He had at least 300 yards receiving in a season at 3 different schools

Williams bounced around the country in college, going from Oklahoma (2021) to USC (2022-2023) to Tulane (2024). He had a season with at least 300 yards at each school, with his best year coming in 2024 at Tulane (60 catches, 1,031 yards, 6 TDs).

WR Tru Edwards, Louisiana

He was first-team All-CUSA in 2024

Edwards broke out at Louisiana in 2024, catching 84 passes for 986 yards and six touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories. In his previous three years in college, he had just 28 catches for 321 yards and two touchdowns combined. He's also the son of former first-round pick, Troy Edwards.

TE Mark Redman, Louisville

He was second-team All-Mountain West twice at San Diego State

Before transferring to Louisville in 2024, he spent two seasons at San Diego State in 2022 and 2023. In each of those two seasons, he was named second-team All-Mountain West, totaling 641 yards and five touchdowns.

TE Anthony Torres, Toledo

9 of his 31 catches in 2024 went for touchdowns

Torres wasn't a high-volume receiver at tight end but when he caught passes, he usually made them count. Of his 31 catches last season, nine of them went for touchdowns. He was tied for third in the conference in touchdown receptions, the longest being a 78-yard score.

OL Wyatt Bowles, Utah State

He was a 4-time Academic All-Mountain West

The Rams often look for players who excel on and off the field, and Bowles fits that mold. He was a four-time Academic All-Mountain West at Utah State from 2021-2024, playing in 52 games with 20 starts in his career.

OL Trey Wedig, Indiana

He had the 8th-best run-blocking grade of any tackle last season

Wedig had a strong season in 2024 with just two sacks and one QB hit allowed for Indiana, and he also excelled as a run blocker. According to Pro Football Focus, his run-blocking grade of 85.1 was the eighth-best among all tackles who played at least 500 snaps, while his 83.5 overall grade was 14th-best at his position.

OL Willie Lampkin, North Carolina

He won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the ACC's best blocker

Lampkin played his last two seasons at North Carolina after starting his career at Coastal Carolina, excelling on the interior for North Carolina. He was named first-team All-ACC in 2024 and won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the best blocker in the ACC. He allowed zero sacks and just eight pressures all season at right guard.

OL Ben Dooley, Boise State

He allowed just 2 sacks in the last 3 years

In addition to being a five-time Academic All-Mountain West, Dooley was also a first-team All-Mountain selection in 2024. In the last 3 years combined, he allowed just 2 sacks, according to PFF, one each in 2024 and 2023. He played both left and right guard in the last three years, excelling on the interior of Boise State's line.

DL Bill Norton, Texas

He was the 3rd-best recruit in Tennessee out of high school

Norton was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, being a four-star prospect from Tennessee. He was the No. 3 player in the state, choosing to attend Georgia for four years before transferring to Arizona in 2023 and Texas in 2024 as a grad transfer. He was two national titles with Georgia.

DL Da'Jon Terry, Oklahoma

He played 2 seasons at 3 different schools

Terry transferred twice in his college career, spending two years at three different schools. He started out at Kansas in 2019, playing two seasons with the Jayhawks before transferring to Tennessee in 2021. He then transferred to Oklahoma in 2023 where he finished his six-year career with 22 tackles in his final season, including five that went for a loss.

OLB Josh Pearcy, Rice

He's in the top 10 for career sacks and TFLs in Rice history

Pearcy was a productive defender for the Owls in his six-year career, recording 16.5 sacks and 34 tackles for a loss. He ranks in the top 10 in both categories among all Rice players in program history.

OLB Jamil Muhammad, USC

He led USC with 6.5 sacks in 2023

Muhammad's best season at USC came in 2023 when he recorded 10.5 tackles for a loss and a team-high 6.5 sacks. He also had two forced fumbles and an interception. Last season, he had just 27 tackles and 1.5 TFLs with one sack.

LB Shaun Dolac, Buffalo

He was a consensus All-American with an FBS-high 168 tackles

Dolac was one of the top defenders in the country last season, leading the country with 168 tackles. He was a consensus selection as an All-American, recording 6.5 sacks and five interceptions to go along with an eye-popping number of tackles. Dolac also led the nation in solo tackles in 2022 when he recorded 97 in 13 games.

S Malik Dixon-Williams, UConn

Led UConn with 3 interceptions in 2024

Dixon-Williams intercepted three passes for the Huskies last season, which were the most on the team. That was after recording four total picks in his previous three years.

S Nate Valcarcel, Northern Illinois

He was a first-team All-MAC selection in 2024

Valcarcel stuffed the stat sheet in his final season, recording a career-high 52 tackles and three interceptions, which were returned for 57 yards. He broke up eight passes and also had two sacks. He was named a first-team All-MAC selection for his standout season.

Lots of transfers, experienced (I.e. older) players and team leaders in this group. Dolac and Wedig were the only 2 I was tracking. Which supports the fact that fans and run of the mill draft analysts don’t know SHIT!!. I see a couple who could make the roster and others that will make for a strong PS.

@Elmgrove.... Yes I do! .... this was in response to the original posters take.

I am very high on many of the UDFA's
-I think Wedig could possibly replace Havenstein in a season or 2. Plus the bonus of 20K indicates the Rams have serious intentions of giving him a legitimate shot.
- I think Paul and Dolac could end up being the pair of starting ILB's by mid-season
- I love that Safety Valcarcel has elite quickens (1.52 / 10 yd split) and eilte change of direction. If he has good anticipation skills, these 2 combined will make for a productive Safety.
- OL Ben Dooley from Boise St has experience playing all along the OL and is 6'5", 320 lbs. I think he may be better than a couple of the guys already on the roster. NO bonus for Dooley is surprising.
- DT Da'Jon Terrry, @ 6'3", 323 lbs, might give the existing guys on the roster some serious competition for the back-up NT position, His PFF grade of 82 defending the Run is exceptional.
- WR Tru Edwards He was about to transfer to Kentucky to play his senior year but signed with the Rams instead. Had he stayed in college 1 more season, he could've elevated his draft stock to mid-round level. Will have to see how he handles an NFL route tree because you don't see much on tape. Also, will be nice to see him catch passes from NFL caliber QB's ; his highlight tape is filled with plays where he has to go to the ground to dig out a poorly thrown ball. There are hardly any plays where he is catching a pass in stride.

Being from NC call me a homer. Maybe I am , but this kid is too good not to

Make it and do it without being placed on P.S.

Though undersized he he was a standout against top senior bowl prospects.
He does have a 32 inch arm length which is more than sufficient
and his technique and hand usage has been described as top notch.

Keep in mind that Walker is 9 inches taller and 70 pounds heavier than Lampkin, and Nolen is 5 inches taller and 23 pounds heavier.

Willie Lampkin among the standouts at the 2025 Senior Bowl

Each year, the Senior Bowl is a prime national spotlight for up-and-coming NFL prospects to showcase their skill and bolster their draft stock.

The ‘Reese’s Senior Bowl’ is designed to feature high-pedigree NFL prospects who have exhausted their college eligibility.

NFL Football Operations speaks to the significant opportunity provided by the Senior Bowl.

“General managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, personnel directors, scouts and other front office personnel from all 32 NFL teams attend the event…There are approximately 500 Senior Bowl alumni on current NFL rosters. In the 75-year history of the game, the Senior Bowl has featured 53 Pro Football Hall of Fame members.”

North Carolina’s Willie Lampkin was fortunate enough to be invited to the 2025 Senior Bowl. Clearly, an invitation to such a renowned, historic event is a big honor, speaking volumes to the hard work Lampkin has put into his game.

With his Senior Bowl invitation, Lampkin’s career accolades continue to grow. This season, Lampkin was also named First-Team All-ACC, joining his teammate Omarion Hampton. Last season, Lampkin made Third-Team All-ACC.

Not only is the Senior Bowl prestigious, but it’s also an incredibly exclusive event. SeniorBowl.com speaks on their in-depth selection process of the 100-plus prospects.

“The Reese’s Senior Bowl utilizes an extensive eight-month process in selecting the players that will be invited to the annual showcase of college all-stars.”

Pro Football Focus (PFF) outlined some key standout players from Day 2 of the Senior Bowl on Wednesday, and Lampkin was one of them.

“North Carolina's Will Lampkin is making a name for himself: Despite his unconventional frame, Lampkin was the highest-graded interior offensive lineman in the Power Four conferences last season, earning an 84.8 overall blocking grade. That strong play has carried over to the Senior Bowl, where his leverage, quick footwork, and excellent hand placement have stood out more than his size limitations.”

Lampkin stands at a stout 5-foot-10, 270-pounds. PFF notes that Lampkin would be three inches shorter than the smallest current NFL offensive lineman and the second-lightest in the past 25 years.

However, Lampkin continues to shine, dismissing any narratives surrounding his size limitations. What Lampkin may lack in size and stature, he makes up for tenfold in technique, grit and determination. While PFF said Lampkin’s height may limit him to playing center, they praised his skillful play and athleticism, mentioning that he could even see some run at fullback in the NFL.

Lampkin has taken full advantage of the 2025 Senior Bowl stage and upped his draft stock significantly. It’s no longer a matter of ‘if’ Lampkin will be drafted but ‘when.’

Can't speak on Wedig just from lack of research,
But Dolac is a tackling machine a ILB with 4.55 speed and
can be a ST Demon while learning to play ILB at NFL level.
I think he sticks. JMHO

Shaun Dolac NFL Draft Overview

Few players get to say they started as a walk-on and made it to the NFL. Dolac has the unique possibility of doing just that. Dolac walked on to the Bulls’ team in 2020 and made his way onto the field for all seven games and recording seven tackles. The following year, he played in 12 games and upped his productivity to 37 tackles, six tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

Dolac’s breakout came in 2022. Over 13 games, he led all of college football with 97 solo tackles en route to a 147 total-tackle season. Additionally, he logged 14 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, seven pass breakups, and forced three fumbles.

His 2023 season was off to a good start, but it all ended after four games due to a season-ending injury. Then, last year, he got back to where he was in 2022. Dolac started 13 games and amassed 168 tackles (his 82 solo and 86 assisted tackles led the MAC), a MAC-best 19 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, five pass breakups, and five interceptions, including one pick-six in the Bulls’ win over Eastern Michigan.

Dolac earned the program’s first-ever consensus All-American.
