If I was an owner I would negotiate with Jackson and if I thought he could elevate my team offer him a contract that worked for me and my salary cap.
If LJ doesn't like it he can go find a better offer from someone else. But to not even try and make a fair market offer or even talk to the guy seems over the top to me.

If he hasnt budged off of the guarrantee, why waist your time. If these teams were in the market for him at one time, dealing with the ravens, then they probably already know his asking. Also, if im an owner who didnt offer up 2 #1s to begin with, then why would i now. Seems to me the Ravens are showing lamar who has the leverage.

Man I'd be worried about injuries with him for sure but I may be in the minority thinking the dude is pretty freaking underrtated. Has anyone looked at the pass catchers the last 3-4 years that the Ravens had? It's an absolute joke, think there were bottom in spending at WR every one of those years. They definitely had the worst WR room in the NFL all those years. And Roman who can design an amazing run game was having receivers running the same route at times.

Dude absolutely killed it with no WRs on his team. Still, anything more than what the market is around Mahomes, Kyler or Russel is getting and I wouldn't do it.

He has a career playoff record of 1-3, with a 55.9 completion %, 3 TDs, 5 INTs and a passer rating of 68.3 in those games.

I’ll grant you… his receiving corps were less than stellar in those games, but those numbers are just bad.

His 2019 season was insane.

3150 yards passing, 1200 yards rushing, 36 TD to 6 INT, another 6 TD rushing. Just crazy.

Can’t think of a team that would be into giving up. 1s and guaranteeing $230-250m guaranteed.
Maybe the Browns? Lol

That was his first semi-full season. Unfortunately, 2 years later, his stats don't look near that good and last year pretty much mirrored '21. Even if you factor in the 5 games missed each of those years (which you really have to take into consideration on value), he has had 3 straight years of decline. Is he wearing down already? Is he not playing 100% due to being "disrespected"? Was it a sudden and then steady decline in weaponry? Did teams figure him out (very likely).

I just don't think you can build a team around a QB that is your leading rusher and a somewhat suspect passer. It's not sustainable. Teams game plan to take your biggest threat away. And given the possibility of doing that and removing the starting QB from the game? Just paint a target on him.

IMO, that is why a QB like Mahommes is so much more valuable. He can run and pass but he will always beat you more with his arm and availability while being able to extend plays when necessary. To me, Lamaar calls his own number on too many RPOs and just relies on his ability to run to the point that it takes his weapons out of the game and makes it difficult on his O-line to know where and who to block.

Great talent. Too bad he's a QB.

BTW... He's got those RG3 tooth picks for legs too.

He's been tagged for like 12 hours, and he's supposed to be flooded with offers already?
Personally, I think the Ravens f$%ed up here. I think putting the non-exclusive tag on him totally back fired. They essentially set the market price for him at 2 1st round picks. What if a team doesnt have 2 1st round picks?
Strange deal
True! Teams can't even negotiate with him yet either but people think he should be signed already.

Mentioned this in the Bears trade thread. It makes a ton of sense for them to trade for Lamar instead of roll the dice with one of the other QB's in the draft since they likely don't get Stroud or Young.
Possibly. Depends on what their Salary Cap Vision is. Maybe what he is asking doesn't fit their philosophy. Maybe they don't believe that he is worth the price. The QB on a rookie contract advantage is a real thing in the NFL. Granted, if you pick the wrong guy it can set your organization back. But if you get it right, and GMs are quite sure in their abilities to select talent, you are in a really good position.

49ers 'Might' Be In The Mix For Lamar Jackson, per Report

Much to the chagrin of Baltimore Ravens fans, star quarterback Lamar Jackson getting franchise-tagged didn't interrupt talks of him leaving the franchise.

To the contrary: Because Baltimore applied the non-exclusive tag on Lamar, all 31 other teams can negotiate with Jackson. And according to The Athletic's Tim Kawakami, one of those teams could be the San Francisco 49ers.

To be clear, Niners GM John Lynch can't simply ink Jackson to a long-term deal. The best San Francisco can do is come to terms on a one-year deal exceeding $32.42 million and hope that the Ravens won't match it.

But Kawakami explained why it would make sense for San Francisco to pursue the former MVP anyway.

"The idea of Jackson lining up alongside Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk in 2023 would send jolts of panic through every defensive coordinator in the league," Kawakami wrote.

"The 49ers might be Super Bowl favorites if they get Jackson and possibly wouldn’t have a healthy playoff-level QB if they don’t. And because Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch, York and their best players are starving for a championship after falling just short in three of the past four seasons."

Brock Purdy and Trey Lance might have something to say about Kawakami's "playoff-level QB" quip. But otherwise, it's tough to argue with the Bay Area reporter.

The Niners are built to win and have a glaring question mark at QB with the departure of Jimmy Garoppolo. Lamar Jackson could fill that void and potentially lead San Francisco to its first Super Bowl since 2019.

And how would San Fran be able to offer 2 1st round draft picks since they dont have a 1st or even 2nd rounder?

That’s the BEST part of this… by panicking and dumping stupid levels of resources into Trey Lance, they’ve made it impossible to upgrade at that position which is the last piece for them

I don’t know ? IMO what it all means as far as where The Rams are.Was never big on Stafford trade, but then again never big on signing Goff to a huge contract.
My take is The Best thing that happened with The Stafford Goff trade was niners traded for Tre Lance. Not so much the fact they could have had Aaron Rogers for less & got something for Jimmy G as well.
—-Stafford won a superbowl beating the niners as well to do it.Feel bad for Purdy, but have to be happy about the results.
Wilson stunk as well.
—Fields is prove NINER’s WRONG big time. Beating Lamar Jackson in rushing yards.

I like Lamar Jackson & Baltimore played there had RIGHT. They will get a deal done.Sayimg Kap & Jackson can be compared is silly. If I’m an NFL team I wouldn’t sign Matthew Stafford for that & wouldn’t have given up 2 first rd picks either. Jared Geoff’s contract was an issue as well.
—Baltimore is willing to give Lamar a lot of money as well.

Lamar Jackson reminds me of Cam Newton

Great runner with a decent arm who can make throws to wide open receivers

However, he is not an in the pocket passer and once the legs go, down go his ability to succeed as a QB.

He won't live up long term to any top QB contract. He is a great runner, simply rare there. But there is a cap on him due to his pass game limits and he isn't getting any younger plus he takes a lot of shots due to that run game.

So I think his desire to be top in pay or fully guaranteed is very bad on top of all that. He may have another MVP type season in him but I doubt that and either way over say 5 years of contract whoever signs him will not see full return.
