There was some speculation on this board that Gurley MIGHT have had a full ACL tear. The lack of news in the past week means that this can definitely be ruled OUT.

Did Gurley have a partial ACL tear? Maybe. Is there something else wrong with his knee? Maybe. Is his knee just fine, or will it be fine after rest and rehab? Maybe.

All I’m saying is, a FULL tear of the ACL did not happen. If so, they would have announced he’d had reconstruction surgery by now.

Anyway— just trying to add some clarity to the mystery surrounding GGurley’s knee. I don’t know if he’s OK or there is still a lingering issue, but it’s safe to assume it was NOT a full tear of the ACL.

He had over 100 yards against the Cowboys. Who the hell thinks he did that with any kind of ACL tear?

For those few who thought there was a “chance” of a full ACL tear... well...there wasn’t. For most of us who always knew that sounded implausible... well... just more evidence to confirm the obvious.

I’ve had three knee surgeries- one ACL, one scar tissue, one meniscus tear. So I know how difficult and “mysterious” knee injuries can be. Not only that, doctors can disagree with one another (I got conflicting diagnoses a few times.) and finally— It’s even harder to figure out what the hell’s going on when the team withholds information.

Now that the season’s over, I wish the Rams would give us a straight answer as to what caused the inflammation in Gurley’s knee. It’s hard to accept that Gurley’s knee is “fine and healthy” when they also say, “oh by the way we’ve been hiding an injury he’s had ever since week one.”

I’m more worried about McVay than Gurley. TG30 has several runs where he looked explosive. He broke Patrick Chungs arm. McVay was the one trying to make sure C.J. got his touches.

I appreciate the mods here and think this is a better forum because of it. This is just my opinion but I think someone prematurely changed the title off trusting a members “source” on the acl tear. That thread really had a lot of members messed up in the head for a few days. I know I was crossing my fingers hoping it wasn’t true. I will swallow my pride if it does come out to be true and apologize to the member who stated it as I was one of the members calling hog wash.

his last carry in the Cowboy game, he went down to tie his shoe before he left the field.... at the time people were saying it looked like he had re-injured himself....and honestly he wasn't the same player after that carry

So can we put to rest the "reliable source" that confirmed it was an ACL tear?

nope. Everyone can do what they like.

It’s been five days since the physical. I am waiting on official announcements, honoring the request of the mods.

Others seem to be pretty sure of themselves. Maybe that can be put to rest.

FWIW, my post wasn’t intended to comment one way or another about the reliability of the “source.” The “source” could have accurately and honestly passed along the info that the Rams suspected a partial tear of the ACL.

As I said before, the problem probably was the “source” omitting the all-important qualifying word partial or complete, which caused confusion.

But yeah, I’ll stand by my assertion that there’s just no way Gurley had a complete ACL tear, that just makes no sense to me. (Based on personal experience, talking to numerous ortho docs, and reading a shit-ton of articles about knee surgeries).

And as far as waiting on official comment about the knee, well, I’m not holding my breath.

I get it. There was just a hint of mockery about the source of the information. But I appreciate the clarification. I’m sure guys don’t want to fill up ten more pages with speculation.

As I stated, I am still waiting for more info. or a qualifyer. I didn’t report anymore than I heard.

What is the “ultimate” source?

If there was a hint of mockery, it wasn’t from me, or certainly not intended.

For me, it’s not about the source’s reliability— it’s about a lack of specificity with word choice. Everyone can be a little vague with words, happens all the time.

“Ultimate source”? I’m such a cynic with knee diagnoses, the ONLY person I’d trust is the surgeon who went in there with a scope and saw the entire joint with his own eyes. Everyone else would be making “only” an educated guess.
