Of the current modern day players. Manning. Manning never had the defense's that Brady has had. I will say this if Manning, Brady, Brees and other of today had to play with the rules of the older guys in the 50's and 60's their numbers wouldn't look do good. You put Bart Starr on the field with today's rules and he would make Brady look like a 3rd stringer.

Good point on Ted Williams - you got me there.

We could have a separate conversation about the greatest RB of all time but in a - build your ultimate all time franchise draft, I’m not sure any RB is going in the first round.
If that RBs name is Jim Brown he's going in the first round.

Gotta say Marino is the GOAT when it comes to pure talent.

Dislike both QBs. I really dislike the goat question in any sport. Because there are so many factors and variables that have to be taken in to account it makes my head swim. Eras, talent, teams, coaches, one hit wonders, one run wonders, jewelry, it just goes on and on and then there are favorite players. Scrambles the mind. I find it easier to mention the QB that I feel is the most underrated of the (Great) QBs a player I watched and hated at the time but one that is never brought up and I believe its wrong. A player that did nothing but win games and championships. Big, strong ,rocket arm, and developed in to quite the field general. Terry Bradshaw. The biggest knock I have heard on him is "oh that team" or "that defense". Well if you are going hold that against QBs you better mark a bunch off your list. I believe Terry is his own worst enemy and many young people don't even realize he played football. I have talked to some, you mean that crazy fat guy played ball. Yeah he did and he was pretty dam good.

Brady deserves all the accolades... but for me I’ve never seen a QB like Manning and what he did at the LOS.

Manning for me.

Me too.

Dungy being a defensive minded coach fielded poor defenses too often.

If we switch Manning and Brady I believe Manning wins more rings with Belichick and Brady wins less with Dungy/Fox

I dunno nut, I always feel like I am bashing the old guys when we start talking like this but I’m not sure how special some of these old timers would be if they played against the defenses of today.

I know if I were a GM putting an all time team together, no RB is going first round. I’m getting a QB very early or I’m going for a legend at a premium position.

It would be an interesting experiment.

But he only had 1 pitch....the fastball.
I cant tell you how many times I watched Marino throw a 60 mph ball to a guy 10 yds away. Then he would bitch the guy out for not catching it.
Marino isnt even top 5 for me

Oh I get what you're saying with all the differences between the eras be it size, athleticism, rules, playing surface, offense strategy, defense strategy, NFL season length etc. IMO it makes comparison between eras impossible. Therefore I always look at where the player stood among his peers at the end of his career. How many records did he hold? How was he rated during his career? IMO Jim Brown stands alone and above any QB when discussing the GOAT for any NFL player. It isn't close.
