I still am shocked Fred Jackson was cut.
I heard it was only 2 millionHow much money was he due? They may have figured he made too much to make the team as a backup, and figured to treat him right by cutting him now so he has more chance to catch on elsewhere. Wouldn't be the first time that an aging but still useful player was cut early on for that reason.

The Rams have made 12 roster moves, reducing their active roster to 78 players.
With his season-ending foot injury, cornerback E.J. Gaines has been placed on injured reserve.
St. Louis terminated the contract of wide receiver Damian Williams, effectively making him a free agent.
Finally, the team waived the following 10 players:
OT T Steven Baker (East Carolina)
OT Travis Bond (North Carolina)
CB Imoan Claiborne (NW Louisiana State)
S Jay Hughes (Mississippi State)
LS Tyler Ott (Harvard)
K/P Michael Palardy (Tennessee)
WR Tyler Slavin (New Mexico)
TE Brad Smelley (Alabama)*
LB Korey Toomer (Idaho)*
C David Wang (Virginia Tech)
*Waived/Injured
In accordance with league rules, the Rams will have to make three more moves to bring the roster to 75 players by tomorrow's deadline.

He didn't play good Saturday...probably his worst showing to date....Hate to see Claiborne cut...I thought the kid had a future with us.
McGee must show something...that we're not privy to....I still like McGee, from the game vs Chicago....he showed he's ready at a moments notice...I'm a little pissed we waived Claiborne. It means a bum like McGee has a shot at the last corner spot even though he's done nothing in his career to earn it. Claiborne had a solid camp. I hope we go externally to fill the fifth CB slot.
Interesting, seems there's external minimum wage options already happening. From overthecap.com:I'm a little pissed we waived Claiborne. Fred Jackson, RB, Bills– This release seemed to catch some off guard, but once the Bills made a large commitment to LeSean McCoy it didnt really make sense to have Jackson also on the team, regardless of his history in Buffalo. The Bills need the cap space for 2016 to avoid going overboard in resturctured contracts in order to be cap compliant, especially once they are forced to use the franchise tag on Marcell Dareus. They will gain $2.5 million in the release.
