Except for the part where they gave up 4th and 19 to set up the kick.
Well, I have a theory of time (I began thinking about this prior to using THC...LOL, although I have had a pretty amazing revelation since on this subject).
It's pretty in the weeds taking into account near infinite multiverses, Planck time and phasing between spaces, but it leads me to some easier stuff.
Basically, there will be X number of possible permutations (universes) that spring from this moment and survive.
There are permutations where the Lions don't give up that long 4th down, but there are also permutations where the ref called the time correctly.
All we have for our consciousness, tho, is this path.
The point, however, doesn't change. To end the game, the refs allowed an illegal play to go off and determine the outcome and that should NEVER be allowed to happen.
Honestly, presuming that the clock did hit 0:00, the game should be awarded to the Lions.
The one thing there is zero excuse for is accepting an incorrect outcome. However, unlike just about any other sport, the NFL refuses to EVER make any mistakes right, opting instead for a letter on Monday offering condolences which is just so chickenshit of the NFL.
