Personal foul for the rams, legit tackle for the seafucks.

.
Troy Hill also had a really nice pass break up earlier in the game as well as the two big plays he made towards the end.
Plus the Seahawks made a personal foul against us which kept our drive alive.
So as long as Troy Hill is coachable I won't demand his head like I did Ficken.

And we all know how that turned out!

I actually think our run defense has been a little better this year. Remember last year, there was a stretch where it felt like every game we’d give up a long run for a touchdown. This season, some teams have gashed us here and there, but not nearly as bad as last season. At least so far. But I think we’ll improve on defense as the season goes along.
Through 5 games last year we’d given up 7 runs over 20 yards including a 61 yarder and a 70 yarder. This year we’ve given up only 3 with the longest being on Sunday for 37 yards. You’re correct, while we have had two games where we gave up some rushing yards we aren’t giving up the huge plays we did last year.

Ndamukong Suh. Two sacks (one negated by holding call in secondary, but still a great play) to snuff out SeaHawks drive early in 4th quarter. Totally changed the game.

The Rams shut down the Vikings's rushing attack and I thought they fielded a more formidible running game than the lowly seavultures.

Then that much maligned Seattle OL pushes the Rams front seven around all game long and rings up190 yards on the ground.

How do you tell which Ram's run D is going to show up?

If Rams are fortune enough to make the playoffs they will encounter the league's best rushing attacks and what that pedestrian Seattle team just did better be the top concern for Phillips and McVay.

or maybe the Seattle run game isn't as pedestrian as everyone thinks? They had a rb go over 100 yards in the last 2 games before Sunday's game.

Panic... no. Concern... yes. I was very concerned during the last 2 games if this D could stop anyone by air or by ground. Any time you give up 30+ 2 games in a row, including getting burned by bombs, gashed by runs... there is concern.

Given all the reasons, Barron's 1st game back (and yes he does get blocked out of the play from time to time), Tailib's injury (we didn't have him last year), Peters not at 100% (does not being 100% cause him to look into the backfield and let his man go?)... I'm still concerned.

I don't want to lose to Case f&%$g Keenum again. He's no Wilson, but his running did present problems last time.

Maybe Wade needs to dial up a well timed DB blitz to catch them off guard. Might be saving that....

Can we please do a better job of not creating redundant threads? Scan the front page (at least) and ask yourself "Will my thread create a fresh discussion?"
We very much encourage member participation and creating discussion, however this is not a blog site and redundant threads clutter the board....not to mention my OCD when keeping discussions somewhat organized.

Much appreciated.

yeah they kicked our ass up front ......but who won ?
Right!!! and they kicked our ass for 3 quarters but that last one we won. Our defense stopped goofing around and took it to Seattle. Feels good to be 5-0:yess:

Last year for the season a grand total of 3 teams averaged over 25 PPG for the season. Last year 5 teams averaged over 375 YPG for the season

This year so far there are 13 teams averaging over 25 PPG for the season. This year there are 17 teams (including the freaking Browns) averaging over 375 YPG for the season.

Eventually maybe fans will acknowledge these simple facts and calm down a bit. I'm not saying the defense couldn't be better. But a little bit of context instead of 20 threads about the sky falling and our defensive players suck would maybe be in order. Throw in the fact that Talib is out, who we planned on heavily, Peters is banged up and Barron was on his first game back and I have a feeling we'll be fine going forward.

Interesting tidbit my friend and it echoes what I heard on the radio the other day form a talking head that said defenses still look to be behind offenses so far this year, usually they get up to speed faster.

Is it more sophisticated offenses or are defenses suffering from the shortened practice schedules.

I don't know that we even know what the defense is yet. You'd have to figure at some point, it will stop being acceptable for opposing linemen to wrap their arms around Donald/Suh/Bockers's necks or to stretch out their jerseys every play.

All the talk after Sunday was how Seattle "gashed" our D and exposed a weakness...I mean, most of us were watching that game - we know exactly how it was Seattle was permitted to do that, and it had nothing to do with outplaying us. Been like that all year.

From those #'s PT, what I get is the Rams D has better stamina and are in great condition. Kudo's to Ted Rath and his staff. Gotta play 15 min in all 4 qtrs. with no leveling off. That the Rams can finnish so well in the 4th qtr proves it.

I agree with most thing posted but can't play with fire all the time it can and will come back to haunt you probably at the worst time. Let's not forget we have been great with not turning the ball over cant always assume the offense will overcome it all the time and bail us out.

I will say again after investing so much into this year and I know we set up for the future as well but they really all in this year please just see what's available as far as and edge rusher experienced not an old bat but someone who can just be put out there and not worry. Ahemmmm Murphy for a fourth???? Ray for a 5th and a 7th? Is that too low? too much? I scoured the league and don't see much out there that fits. I will go on record and say I would gladly give up a 3rd for Trent Murphy that's me personally. Also the corner we picked up all I see and hear is some impressive stuff thoughts???

I was thinking on Sunday that perhaps the D was more worried about applying pressure and containing Wilson than shutting down the run. Gotta admit Seahawks had a great plan. If these holes appear with a stiff back there then I'll worry more.

how do we know if Murphy or Ray are available? has anything been reported that they are being shopped? does Wade even like either of those 2 players? Are the Rams even looking to acquire any defensive players at this time thru trade?

definitely you have to win you gap, but unless your superman your going to lose battles sometimes. offensive coordinators aren't stupid, they will attack what they see as a weakness. This can be a defensive player or the scheme itself. My opinion is that Wade unleashes his Dline. They are in attack mode, it will leave them out of position sometimes. I don't see how to change that or fix that. change the scheme? Don't think Wade will be doing that.

Hot... We aren't talkin about guys "losing some battles" of late. This has nothing to do with them attacking. I get it. Wade's defense attacks. We all know he likes aggressive players making plays. But when you get gashed the way our defense has been gashed, in spite of the guys we have in the middle, it starts to look like what the Sheattle OL observed: that our guys are more interested in rushing the passer and racking up sacks than doin the work vs the run.

With our defense we knew losing Talib was a big hit. We knew our LBs would be a bit of a transition year with young guys figuring it out and being a bit short in the pass rush talent department. But what we can't have is our elite DL being overrun. That has to be a strength for us for our defense to have a chance to get us where we run the table in the playoffs.

Oh and before someone swoops in with a comment on panicking... There's no panic here. Just a recognition that we need improvement pretty much across the board on defense and it has to start up front IMO.
