Good times...

Confused Jimmy Fallon GIF by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Boy, was that depressing! I admit to being "all in" on Martz at the time (didn't want to lose him), but my goodness did we learn his flaws in short-order. Crazy to me that he never self-corrected.

There was no doubt Vermeil would have ensured the Offense stayed on track. Sadly, the front office made the wrong decision.

I doubt Martz will ever take responsibility for his short comings.

Martz was a shitty ass drafter; aside from S-Jax, Tinoisamoa, and Curtis, none of his picks panned out with us.

(No, I refuse to include Richie Incognito in the whole panned-out category; he was regarded as a genuine piece of shit and team cancer while in college, proved it in the NFL and our team, and rightfully got kicked off of our team before he ever did well.)

Zygmut was a cancer too and Charlie Army was part of being too cute in the drafting part of things. The whole front office/coaching was rotten and as soon as the team that Vermeil put together started to fall apart they couldn't do anything to lift it back up.

Lovie actually kept things going for a hot second (even if he had his flaws).

Textbook example of a bad owner and shit ass front office fucking up a good thing. They were questioning Vermiel iirc after year two, which honestly is a joke considering how fucking bad they were for the duration of the 90s.

So glad we got that title season. It's a miracle that it happened, honestly.

I don't hate Martz btw. He was just not ready to be a head coach. Vermiel was the perfect dude to have above him. And I think Martz in that OC role was :fire1:. Loved the arrogance of that offense.

I'm always going to be salty about Martz given the way he ruined Kurt Warner, who had to go elsewhere to get his mojo back. We had a HOF QB and he was the one who fucked it up by not adapting.
