I found myself yelling at Noteboom and Higbee more then anyone on Sunday. Higbee wiffed so badly on one particular block, its probably a meme by now. Not to mention, he dropped a couple passes and went to the sidelines after every play "injured". He's not a tough guy and he really isn't great anymore. I wouldn't advocate taking Bowers or anything, but I also wouldn't have advocated extending him either. And Boom? He just kinda stinks.

I too, am fed up with Noteboom, but I disagree with your assessment of Higbee. I think he’s a pretty tough, gutsy guy—probably to his detriment. McVay spoke to his physical issues but there is a serious dropoff if he sits. NOW that the Rams have bottomed out, maybe he does start sitting. I dunno.
…but will agree on one thing regarding Higbee, that missed block was fugly! Blocking is his most vital asset in this offense and he didn’t show it there.

Thank God....finally.

“Witherspoon played 71 snaps (99%), followed by Duke Shelley with 50 snaps, Quentin Lake in the star role at 43 snaps, and Cobie Durant at 22 snaps.”

I like the idea of putting someone else in the Star role and getting Durant back in a more traditional corner role where he can make more impact plays similar to last season.

Lake has surprised me so far. Didn't think he'd do too well in that role, figured he didn't have the coverage ability to show consistency in there. Hope it continues.

And Higbee is actually McSnead's "in-season" extension. Got to say, at this point I have more faith in Snead than McVay.
It seems every year we give someone a head-scratching extension. Sometimes I don't know what the fuck Snead is thinking. He has as many or more whiffs than hits and it's holding us back.

The scary thought is how many elite players have Snead/McVay in combination drafted. Kupp and I'm drawing a blank from there. They've made some nice picks but when it pertains to the most important positions and getting elite talent it's been reliance on elite players from the Fish era plus FAs and traded veterans.

So even though this past draft was quite good I don't know that these two in combination can draft/develop for the next window. Which means if there are no changes they're probably best off starting that spend cycle again and hopefully they can find an elite player in this draft up top.

Now I know someone will say Nacua but he's come down to earth a bit since Kupp returned. And there's a long way to go with him, maybe he's great maybe he's good. We'll see. But at the very least if I'm Kroenke I want a complete overhaul of my scouting department, particularly the guys leading the charge on OL, TE, QB, and RB.

Also and btw it is possible the problem is McVay and his staff influencing things. Only the Rams know who was behind which picks and all that. But whatever happens the rest of this season there should be an internal analysis on where they need to do better. Lot of room for improvement.

I think they know where the Rams need to improve: OL, Edge, CB, these are the positions the Rams should look at with their 1st pick and take the best one available at one of those. Of course, some of this will depend on what happens during free agency.
