I hate the piling on when a guy fails. Our kicker is a solid dude. He will come through for us in the future.

I did not like that we were lined up so far over on the right hash. GZ seems to have his most trouble when lined up there. Was there a reason we were lined up so far to the right? I guess the completion run out of bounds. The play clock violation seemed unconscionable. Did it seem to anyone else that clock ran fast?

Anyway, on to the San Fran game! I am convinced the the men in the arena have the right focus.

Nobody kicks 100%. Nobody has a 100% completion percentage. No running back is never tackled behind the line of scrimmage, no WR has zero drops.

It part of football, part of life. Nobody is perfect. Greg is one of the few kickers that a 40+ yard field goal feels automatic. Hell, he's one of the few in the history of the game where a 50+ yarder feels like it's automatic.

Not worried about him at all. He's won us so many games, especially during the final part of the dark ages, I can't be upset about him missing this one. Just like I can't be upset about the Cooper Kupp drop against Seattle two years ago that "lost" us the game as well.

Thursday was the first time I felt all season that we were going to be fine going forward. Not worried about anyone at all right now.

I think the best thing going forward is believing in GZ that he will make the big kicks that we will need the rest of the season. They will be there for him to make for sure.

Seems to me he is avg on the right hash. The miss against the Browns was the same spot. Doesn't seem to hook those in from the right.

GZ has been one of the best kickers in the game since we moved to LA. Y'all are spoiled. NFL players aren't perfect. Every single player on this team has made mistakes this year. It happens. It's unfortunate that Greg missed in that moment, but the guy hit a 58 yard FG just last week.

Wrong

And Philly I respect your opinions but in this isolated case...

If you actually do your homework or even half way paid attention to his career (as I have) and not a small sample size, you’d see the error in your post...I know I may come off as a pontificating Ahss but on this topic I’ve closely paid attention as GZS number one fan.

He’s way more inconsistent from the left hash, to me it’s not even close, the kick Thursday that usually bends in this time went straight as an arrow...well crap but it did

Still love the guy tho, best Rams kicker I’ve ever seen (sorry but JW is 2nd Lansford 3rd) and I’ve been watching since Bruce Gossett

This game highlights to me that 4th quarter comebacks are an incredibly stupid stat. The oompa loompa gets one because GZ missed. Goff didn't get one because GZ missed.

For both players, the critical play for them getting a 4th quarter comeback didn't involve them. So why would they get the stat? So stupid.

Pissed he missed it.. but the ones he made in new orleans in the NFC championship were much more important.

Any stat that makes it all about the qb is stupid. The ultimate team sport and the media want to make it all about the qb.

It makes me wonder, in The Legend of Wittle Wussel Wilson, how many of his league-leading amount of 4th quarter comebacks was he sitting on the bench during the crucial moments? How many were "earned" by the other team simply failing to make an offensive play?

You can't even call this a 4th quarter defensive save, because they didn't keep us out of field goal range. We marched right down... Just missed the kick. Wasn't blocked. Wasn't close to being blocked. The guy just missed it. Shit happens. But they need to stop fluffing that bastard because he has a good defense helping him out.

Bruce Gossett. You’re making me cry.

My first year as a Rams fan 1966, Gossett was voted all-pro. Those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end...

I thought they should have run Gurley up the middle on 2nd down and ran up and spiked the ball.
GZ would have been kicking from the middle of the field instead of the right hash mark. He kicked it almost perfectly straight and didn't miss by much.

It’s weird, but I’ve always been more worried about his 40 yarders than his 50 yarders.

Me too Max, also I like it when he's lined up in the middle of the field because his ball is usually straight or draws, unfortunately, this time, it did not draw.

1973 for me Max and David Ray had a great year, however, missed 3 FG's in a playoff loss at Dallas as Chuck Knox luck in postseason began...Gossett went on to kick for the Whiners.

Ah, yes, 1973. The new uniforms. And Rams revival from the 3 year doldrum under new ownership and Tommy Prothro punting on 3rd down.

Gossett left in 1970 when the Rams were in turmoil. It was sad to watch back then. MNF just started and the Rams were on the downslide just when the NFL merged and was taking off on TV.

But there was one golden moment at the end of 1970. The Rams were out of the playoffs and the Giants needed to beat the Rams to make the playoffs for the first time in a very long time. The NY papers were gloating that the Rams would get trounced. I remember the headline in the NY Daily News. It said, "All I want for Christmas is Rams soup." The Giants players were talking all week about how the playoffs were a done deal. Well, Merlin Olsen made a speech before the game then went out and almost single handedly destroyed Fran Tarkenton. Final Score was 30-3 Rams. Growing up in NY, I remember all my Giants fans friends saying how stupid it was to piss off Olsen. What a great player he was.
