It's kinda crazy that there's that much space available in LA to develop but it's there. I bet the ponies a number of times at the track but the horses have been gone for awhile. It would be kinda cool if they kept the casino that's still there but they won't. ;)

Inglewood has gotten a lot better over the years, it's actually become a decent place to find good rent/mortgages... I can only imagine what this will do to property values around the area....

Yeah and what the devs will do is start buying up the run down neighborhoods and rebuilding them so it's about to get a lot nicer. Those who sell will be able to buy some nice homes elsewhere too.

I think the most successful example of reinvigorating a downtown is San Diego. The Gas Lamp district, which is true downtown SD, is stunning. If you had gone there 30 years ago and compare it to now it's night and day. Such a beautiful, beautiful city now. I still go down there to hang with old buds and tear up the bars, it's amazing down there.

Now LA is going to have a similar thing going on there and with the airport nearby that entire section of the city is about to get a massive overhaul over the next 10 years.

Catering to fantasy football is a must for stadiums today.

If you want to max out your attendance, have to cater toward that. I was at the Rams/Steeler game this year in St. Louis. I was sick very sick (cold), but still screamed my ass off AND kept up with fantasy scores on my phone.

I think this is the norm nowadays...multitasking like that. I even watch two other games while watching the Rams play when I watch from home. Don't miss a play of the Rams game, and see some other action. Perfect.

I disagree. Glare and shadow is what it is when you're a receiver or DB. Remember the old Texas stadium? The big hole in the roof? That was not a practical thing for football players regardless of uniform.
I'll have to look at some of the other newer stadiums and compare the roof architecture. I'm no architect but i hope my amateur(but common sense) observation amounts to nothing.

Good question Mojo. I suspect the shadows in that photo are more reflective of the rendering software than reality. The beauty of EFTE is it's versatility. The translucent properties can be adjusted from dead clear to fairly opaque, (somewhat similar to the Phoenix roof, opacity-wise). I suspect at 175 feet above the field, and the probable size of the bar joist structure, 18" to 30" (just guessing - architect, not an engineer - but they should be relatively small since in the end the entire roof/dome will act as single structural element), with the diffused light and the distance, glare and shadows probably won't be much of an issue, if at all.

I am really looking forward to watching the construction of this stadium - I followed the Phoenix build pretty closely, and have been to the stadium several times - love the place. Am also disappointed it wont be grass, but there may be issues being 100' below the adjacent grade.

Vegas, do you think that they made that decision about grade because of LAX?
Yeah - FAA regs. Still don't know why it couldn't be grass. But then I wonder why they pull the grass out in AZ - must be some reason.

I'm excited about fact that it will be 100 ft. into the ground and with the roof it should be loud as freak in there, no where for the sound to escape. I am worried that the kind of people that can toss the kind of coin around to actually go to the game will be willing to make that noise...
Valid points. I am a little concerned about how vocal the fans will be. In the Coliseum there isn't much that can be done unless you get the USC fans in there. But I have a feeling that the fans in the new stadium will want to do things like break Seattle's record for noise and things like that. People in LA are not nearly as laid back as the stereotype.

ROD will have to take the joint over and MAKE SOME NOISE!!!
We shook the dome so we can do the same for the glass palace.

It's going to be fantastic. I can't wait. But there are always negatives. You know what's going to annoy me? All the bandwagoners that are heading the Rams way. With this stadium, coverage and most likely a lot of winning in the future us diehards will be mere dots in the crowd. That's the real pain in leaving a small market for a huge one even if you don't live in St Louis - you lose that sense of moral ownership over your team. They might suck - but they were our suckers. Not anymore.
That has never once been something I have been concerned with. The more the merrier.

I read a piece on the stadium and there was something said about the glass roof and sections. Something about how the Sun(sunlight) will be causing weird, beautiful, interesting shading inside. That's all well and good but uh...doesn't sound so good relative to the actual football players who are playing football there. Is it going to be JJ Abrahms Field with lens flares blinding the WR's?

I'll try to find that piece and post it.
Every naturally lit stadium has shadowing issues.

I hope the new LA Rams stadium has turf.
I really do.
We are a speed team.
That is what the plans call for.

How is that good for football? Just sayin. That sounds really interesting for a day in a park or something to witness as a bystander but that doesn't sound practical for football aesthetics.
I really don't think it is going to affect much. And maybe they could make the glass clearer when Locket is fielding a punt but more opaque when Tavon is waiting.

It would be kinda cool if they kept the casino that's still there but they won't. ;)
From what I understand that is actually the first thing they are rebuilding. They can't close the old one and tear it down until they have the new one ready to open.

Well rooted turf is hard to grow without full sun. A traditional stadium is sloped back enough to allow full sun. Also, the Inglewood stadium would have a pretty expensive drainage system it would seem. Not sure about sunlight issues but I think it would be much more difficult than open air. The three main reasons IIRR for having the roll in turf in AZ were that it was actually easier to grow that way without causing condensation issues, they had ample land around the stadium to do it, and the other events the stadium would host.

I have heard that Inglewood is a very bad area - can anyone speak to this? I've never been there (haven't been to Cali since 1994) but work with a guy from the LA area
You can get raped, robbed and shot all on the same block. Ok, kidding aside, gang violence in present but same is true at Staples Center. They need an extended fwy ramp to isolate the traffic as well as the fan experience. Staples is in a bad area but they created a controlled environment. If they can do this with ING it'll be great.

Would one of you guys spread my ashes there, when the time comes?

Have someone send them to me and I'll fly over the stadium and drop them out. I have done that many times

I suppose....they mostly had garbage stadiums in LA before, I was never to the Dome in St. Louis so I cant comment on that.
The problem with the big fancy new stadium??....along with it generally comes the whole "experience", IE, $40 parking and $20 beers.
which is why i just love my tv. 20 small gets me a good 12 pack OR a nice fifth (believe it). and i'm already parked in my driveway. cheers.

to be fair, i believe in the experience part, however, other than another SB win, last years home opener vs seattle was an experience that wont be topped. all i have to say is an afternoon with Ramhusker.

I've never put 2 and 2 together, but I just noticed, the canopy is shaped like like Ram on the Rams logo.
