All good, I just didn't see a need to dive that deep. The gesture was enough to me. I am a lifelong Angelino who has been evacuated (previously) and had friends and coworkers lose their homes in this fire and countless others be evacuated, There is little if any room in hotels, motels, hostels and campgrounds for these families.
It's really scary and very sad. No offense has been taken on my part, welcome to the board and Go Rams!

it's been reported that Bidwell donated the planes to the Rams. I am sure there is some kind of deal in regards to concession sales.
As for hotels etc., Demoff did state that the Rams had 500 local hotel rooms set aside for Vikings players, family, officials, media etc that would be served better by giving them to folks who had to evacuate. Since most hotels are chains anyway, that would be a wash.. give some rooms away in one city, while charging in another.
I'm 3600 miles away, but do have some family and friends that had to evacuate, and my cousins husband is a smoke jumper, so any and all donations are appreciated
Not at all. But I'm not going to gush about his magnanimity, either, for flying what is essentially a group of well-paid corporate employees & their families to a corporate event. They aren't flying victims out, not loading them with supplies and/or first responders, ffs...lol...
You really have to be gullible to believe there isn't a deal in place that saves the league money & flips a small market team some $$ at the fans' expense. We all need some positive news, especially something that looks like a grand gesture we can all vicariously enjoy because we feel helpless and frustrated. But sorry; I will not let the NFL piss on my leg & call it rain. You do you.
Now, if Kroenke wants to pay to use Bidwill's planes to run non-stop flights in & out of AZ on Monday , free for those fans who already had tix before the move, I'll be the first & loudest to sing his praises.
I've always preferred "Curds" if the whole "unalive" thing is too mean for you. How can you claim hate for calling someone a tasty dairy by-product, no matter how soft & slimy ?
I also have a friend ( I know; shocking) who calls them Fledbirds ( as in "those birds who fled our city for sun & profit) which I think is bitterly witty & historically accurate. Can't fault him for it.
My engineer Dad tried to get us to use " the number of elements of a set" as a synonym, but we could never fit it on our "Eff dem...." cardboard sign. Nothing like a math joke to lighten the mood.

Who are you referring to as "gushing" over the munificence displayed?
The gesture is more tangible than vicarious in that it will directly impact the Ram fanbase.
I find it difficult to understand and it isn't important that I do, why those that are so cynical about the NFL and it's owners retain and continue their fanship.
EVERY member of the Rams organization, esp McVay and Demoff, have gone out of their way to gush .
How is flying Rams employees & families to a game helping the fanbase ? If you are referring to the million dollar donation, it's awesome, but the equivalent of a few bucks from you or me; a welcome positive gesture that will cumulatively have a much-needed impact, but is hardly some major sacrifice on their part that merits praise. It's literally the least they could do. Let's keep a sense of proportion here is all I'm asking & be skeptical of describing PR tactics as classy gestures & whatnot.
I'm a fan of the sport & especially those that play for the team I've supported since childhood. Doesn't mean I'm not going to remain skeptical that the corporate machine that runs the NFL has anything but self-interest governing 99% of what they do.
Both things can be true (Compassion and revenue that is). I prefer to accentuate the compassion part and de accentuate (if that’s a word. If not Im putting in a patent) the revenue part. It’s a horrible situation that not one can imagine unless they are there on the ground. And it could use a little light.

I think most fans that spend the time and energy to frequent sports team's fan boards are also intelligent enough to know it is and will always be economics over entertainment and philanthropy.
I also think this makes the point, knowing this going in why pick this as the time to focus on corporate greed and optics when there is a humane gesture involved as well?
There are more than enough instances of simple greed to dissect without choosing this as the hill to die on.
This board has a pretty sophisticated fanbase and I don't think you have shone much new light on the subject of insincere optics. We do have a positive that is part of the equation and in this time I choose to consider that as the impetus of my focus.
I don't think anymore discourse concerning the affect this has on the fanbase is helpful we seem to see it from different perspectives which is fine
If the circumstances surrounding your argument were different we would likely be more aligned but this is about unification not bifurcation, at least in this situation and in my personnel lean regarding this event.

I'm not dying on any hill. A thread was started that thanked someone/an organization for a gesture I don't believe was worthy of it & expressed skepticism. I was asked, somewhat disparagingly, imo, who pissed in my cheerios & I outlined why I was skeptical. If you prefer to be optimistic & take at face value what seems to be obvious PR spin to me despite the evidence which you claim to be aware of, so be it.
My last thought on the matter before I get back to football is that the problem, as I see it, with your positive /glass half full argument, is that it leads to more corporate apathy & inadequate gestures. It's only by holding their feet to the fire , no pun intended, when their behavior is in the public eye like this, can we get them to make more than the minimum gesture & shoulder their fair share.
You don’t believe thanks to them were worthy? Wow… regardless of their motives they did a good thing. You might want to lighten up a tad.
Not sure why a simple and kind gesture has to be scrutinized so severely. The Cards organization did a nice thing. End of story.
I was going to say, I doubt the owner who makes players pay for their own meals is donating his planes and stadium from the kindness of his heart.
Of course the Cards are being helpful, it's not like they'll host a playoff game of their own any time soon!!
