Nearly 8 months of preparation, since that Philly game.
Scouting. Workouts. Drafting. Free Agency. Contracts. Rookies. Camps. Sleds. More workouts. Doctors. Meetings. Rule changes. Planning. Preparation. Study. Walk-throughs.

Sunday, it all comes together for the first of 17 games...
What will this season bring? like all other 31 teams, a Lombardi, we hope. But with everything I've seen to date... WHY NOT US?? I think they've got a real shot to do it. Upgrades on this team almost everywhere, coaches included.

So....
LET'S GOOO RAMS!

Amen. The Rams "vaunted McVay offense" has been pedestrian for years. And yes, I get that there have been injuries.... It's football. All teams have injuries.

The scheme is what worries me. Gurley was the main ingredient in the last formidable Rams offense, and he's not coming back. Maybe Adams can be a spark? Maybe a better TE Corp?? This will be a telling season for sure!! GO RAMS!!
IMO, a part of the issue has been Stafford being so streaky and locking in on targets, IMO.

Same mantra. New Year.

The TE is almost aways open. (And the Texans are said to have struggled against the position last year).

That Houston defense is gonna be ferocious.
This will be a very early significant test for the Oline and keeping Stafford upright.

But.. if this Oline takes a decent step forward from last year? This could be an amazing season. I remember how easy it was starting to look for the Rams with OBJ and Kupp... Adams and Nacua are going to wreck defenses and they've got weapons to truly take advantage of that. Even in limited use... I can see Ferguson just wreaking havoc. Tutu is going to have space. Whittington is going to have space.

CAN'T WAIT!

Yeah, I think Shelton is going to be a big part of the line improvement. I know, but the stunts worked to well against us. I think the lack of confidence in the calls had a lot to do with the performance of the line, especially the fall off of the 2 guards and affected the O a lot.

The line improvement and the addition of Adams will open up the box and Kyren will get a lot more chunk runs.

We will see a lot of 2 score leads this year and a lot less of the opposition run game. Our offense will put a lot of pressure on the other teams offense to keep up and the D will feast.

Bennett, Ferguson, Quessenberry, Wallace and Desean
Forget how the rules work, but I think both the Cowboys and Eagles had 7 inactive players last night.

BTW, I think Hamilton will be inactive.

Not so sure about Ferguson. Methinks McVay is going to want to play with his new toy.

Last season the Texans were suckers for play action.

They mentioned this on Between the Horns, saying the Texans defense eyes gets them into trouble. McVay is a master of getting LBers and Safeties to get caught looking. So I expect the Rams Offense to use this to their advantage. No doubt the Texans are going to be a tough outting but if you want to take that next step we have to beat good teams, and do it in dominate fashion.

McVay hasn't had great success against Demeco Ryan defenses in the past. Hopefully this new aged offense several insiders have been hinting at finally keeps from being stymied by his defenses.

Worried about the Spoon news. Wonder if Forbes is up to it. Nico Collins is a formidable WR that we will have trouble covering regardless.
Nico is the single biggest mismatch in the Texans favor because we lack the CB1 you need to handle him. We have a bunch of CB2/3 types who for the most part have a lot to prove. So the key in this game is making Stroud shit his pants early and often in his drops. If Stroud has time we are gonna give up chunks in the pass game.

Verse is the single biggest mismatch in our favor, because he's going up against a rook LT. This is a nightmare matchup for Ersery in game one. If Verse dominates as expected we should see a domino effect up front, because our DL is loaded with threats.

Also I think for McVay the biggest thing will be staying balanced in his play calls. He tends to forget about the run game, and to his credit few are as good as he is at manufacturing drives with creative pass calls underneath when he needs to. But this is not the game to forget about the run. This is a playoff level opener.

I am eager to see how our ILBs fare vs Chubb. I expect the defensive front to own the line of scrimmage, which should mean our backers are running free to clean up behind them. But we really don't want Chubb to get rolling. Stop his ass early. I feel like stopping Chubb will be the single biggest determiner in whether we win this game, because if Stroud has to pass to move the chains he should get worn down by our rush.

I think we have the most depth talent we have had in the McVay era this season. OL and Stafford are my biggest questions going into this season.

Ferguson? He is listed as the back up TE. Zero chance he is inactive. Davis if any TE.

Chubb was a force….in 2022. My guess is he’s still strong but does not have the burst or shiftiness to give our ILBs too much trouble. Collins is a top 3 NFL WR when healthy. Need to keep Stroud in duress and contain him. if Rams DL feasts on Texans OL I see the defense holding them to under 17 points.
