Honestly? Sometimes I'm amazed at how much production, fire, and wins we get out of our collection of players. When you take away our few outstanding guys our roster is very... mediocre.

We have dogs on offense. Obviousy Everett and Higs, but you can't tell me Trees isn't a dog. That dude lays WOOD (CWUTIDIDTHAR?) on defenders in the blocking game. Corbitt has a real nasty streak in him....Whit is not to be fucked with. I don't think there is an issue there. This is a Superbowl squad less than 2 years removed. They are mature and understand that the season isn;t won or lost in one damn game.

I think a big part of the problem is the Rams are a very young team, except for a few players. We need more guys with the Jack Hacksaw Reynolds mentality. I remember when I wrestled in High School and College, when I lost a match my mother would tell me if your were as mad before the match as you were after you lost nobody would ever beat you.

I think it’s a symptom of the “new NFL”. You often get penalized for being wide-open aggressive. You can’t always play with your hair on fire and I bet that is hard to manage. These guys are forced to alter their playing style. I also think, because of so many injuries, it might be a strategy to dog it until they think it’s a critical time in a game to step it up. It also seems to be a mindset that it’s a long season and the playoffs is the time to give it 100% for those guys that are secure with their starting position.
Its a slippery slope to play that way and still win.

You just described all 32 teams. Pick one at random and it'll be the exact same thing.

I have no idea who our team is. Are they the team that was a questionable pass interference call from starting 5-0? Or are they the team that got shut down by a banged up 49er defense that gave up 43 points to Miami? Or the the team that couldn't stop a struggling quarterback whose coach called conservative short plays all day?

I keep thinking how they came out so flat against a division rival who won the NFC last year. How can that happen? Or are they not as good as we thought? Either prospect is concerning. If they can't get ready for a division rival, what chance do they have against Russell Wilson? If they aren't as good as we thought, well, nevermind.

The Rams are all three, at least. That is why the NFL motto should be "Any Given Sunday"

Speaking of the offense specifically here, i disagree that the unit is soft or has trouble handling physicality because they're soft.

After watching the McVay/Goffense for more than 3 years now...IMO this unit has taken on a somewhat machine-like, robotic personality. Not soft or even particularly physical.

It's success is so much predicated on execution, rhythm, timing, tempo shifts and discipline. More often than not this produces excellent results. Like a high functioning motor with thousands of tiny moving parts. It sounds like i described a finesse offense but that's not the case here. The Rams can and have delivered smash mouth football as well.

I feel like at times when a defense can get ahead of our offense in the playbook or disrupt the rhythm even a little, the playcalling AND Goff struggle to re-center the focal point of attack...if that makes sense.

I don't think this offense is very instinctual on the fly. It's Mozart, not Jimi Hendrix.

You have to consider Goff as Antonio Saliere, not Mozart! ~CHAMP

I think a lot of fans mistake the style of offense we run for the players being soft. Two very different things.

You can't tell me that there are many soft players in the NFL let alone on the Rams. To a man they "block their balls off", make catches in traffic when they know they're going to take a hit, run through 300 lb. plus lineman regularly.

It's a timing offense that fell to a badly humiliated division rival at their home after a grueling travel schedule to open the season. The Niners were primed for us after that debacle the previous week and may have been looking past the Dolphins at us all along.

It happens and I'm fine with it. Think we'll have a little extra incentive to kick some ass next time we play them at home?

Agree. Every one of our players postgame cite "execution"--"we just have to execute," etc. It's like we're lost when plays break down, and other teams with lesser coaches, turn being used to winging it to their advantage. We almost never extend plays.

One thing that keeps me optimistic is our OL. Seems like a group that will only get better as the season goes on, and I feel like we even have some decent depth with Evans and Noteboom ready to fill. I'm one of those people who thinks OL can get you through a lot of adversity.

I'm hoping this is a group that will be able to move people out of the way if it comes down to it later in the season.

Unfortunately, I think the matter falls on a game to game basis with this team. There are times we are more physical and how did we get there? Mind set. Each week the mind set changes. Last week you could read the body language of our key members and see something was off in the mind set.

Yes, and when goff is on, they can't be stopped. Unfortunately I think Goff comes out tight in a big matchup and when that happens the whole offense and staff know it. They try to keep to the game plan but goff misses reads or misses an open player and before you know it the D starts giving up long drives and wearing down. The D resets at half time but the offense can't always fix itself. They really need to have a quick change to the plan to get Goff back on his game.

I agree, and frankly, I'm a little worried about how they respond. This will be a huge teller of the seasons story.
Well think we saw much more effort and toughness than last week.

They most definitely read my post and it fueled them.

I'd like a little appreciation :ROFLMAO:
